With the cooperation of various entities such as Capital Region Water, Harrisburg City Farm and Harrisburg Redevelopment Authority, these gardens were installed in the city as part of the ongoing Green Initiative for Harrisburg. Additionally, these spaces were created for city residents to have easier access to a community garden space by placing them within city limits. There are 44 raised garden beds available to lease. The lease is $20 for the year. The lease will cover now until the end of the next growing season. Preference will be give to city residents first, followed by anyone outside of city limits. You will have a choice of location. The Uptown garden located on the 1900 block of North 4th St., or at the Allison Hill garden located on the 400 block of South 15th. St.

Today we harvested a little over 300lbs. of fresh assorted greens, peppers, squash, tomatoes, garlic, peas and beans for Wildheart Harrisburg’s Fall Harvest Party! We got up early to do the harvesting because we wanted the food to be as fresh as possible when we gave it out to the community 76lbs of that was leafy greens, so if you can figure out how much volume of lettuce and all other leafy greens is, you should understand how tired we are, but it was so worth it.

After some hiccups, we finally are able to get everything going! Come on and sign up if you’re looking to to do some volunteer work. This farm is a hidden gem in the middle of the city and it’s gonna provide a lot healthy food for the city.

Joshua Farm is in full growing season and is in need of volunteers! 🥬

This Urban Farm provides food for the people of Allison Hill and gives educational opportunities to the local Harrisburg School District.

No farming experience is required. We are hosting Farm Work Days on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and select Saturdays in July & August.

Sign up to volunteer on our website! 🧑‍🌾

We are THRILLED to officially welcome Amahl Pitts and Kerry MacDearmid to our team to help us take the farm to the NEXT LEVEL! If you've been paying attention in the City, these guys helped pull off an incredible bleacher garden project with our friends at The Bridge last year, taught students at Boys & Girls Club of Harrisburg, LOOP Boyz and Girlz and more. Each of them are PASSIONATE about our community, love growing food, teaching agricultural skills and making sure that EVERYONE EATS! Can't wait for you to meet them!

So many of you have helped us in the last year bring this space back to life, and its going to continue to take a village to see this vision come together. If you'd like to volunteer, sign up at lovethehillpa.com! You can also reach out to coordinate your visit by e-mailing [email protected].

Huge thank you to the Harrisburg School District for this continued opportunity to serve students and residents alike!

WHERE'S THE FARM?

Come visit us at 213 South 18th Street! Just 5 blocks away from our 13th Street address :)

While there’s nothing wrong with the basic tenets of capitalism, people are becoming rich at the expense of the people. Unfortunately, that’s not going to change so that’s why we must learn to sustain ourselves and nourish ourselves with nutrient dense and additive free foods.

We are on the learning journey with everyone else and it’s a wonderful opportunity to learn.

We been at this for a good long time!!! I think the groundhogs are getting smarter though! 🤣
