As President of The Steelton Community Development Foundation, I made the tough decision to cancel the 5th Annual Holiday Dinner this year due to the pandemic.

The safety of the families we serve is more important to us as a Board. It’s disappointing to everyone as it’s something we look forward to hosting for the last 4 years.

I will call a SCDF board meeting soon to discuss with the board on a alternative way to still bless the families in our community, please stay tuned as updates will be forthcoming. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Video Previews
Atlantic Broadband also announced an expansion of its video previews for customers. Starz/Encore, MSNBC and CNBC, EPIX, CNN, Fox News and Hallmark Channels—being made available to all video customers at no additional cost for a limited time.
Waiving of Terminations and Late Fees
In support of the FCC’s “Keep Americans Connected” initiative, Atlantic Broadband will not terminate service and will waive late fees for any residential or small business customer because of their inability to pay their bills due to disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Corporate Initiatives
The company last week announced that it would offer “Atlantic Broadband Internet Assist.” Available for a limited time to serviceable residents in Atlantic Broadband operating areas who are in financial need and who do not presently have internet from Atlantic Broadband. Offered free for 60 days with free installation and a free modem.
AT&T
Waiving Fees
As of march 13, 2020 and for the next 60 days, AT&T is waiving domestic wireless plan overcharges for voice, data, text for residential and small business customers “incurred due to economic hardship related to the coronavirus pandemic.” No termination of wireless service for the next 60 days due to inability to pay. Waiving late fees for 60 days.
Relief and Support Efforts
Unlimited AT&T Home Internet. For qualifying limited income households, $10/month. Public safety partner with state and local governments through AT&T FirstNet to give First Responders connectivity for 9-1-1. Keeping WiFi Hot Spots open.
Prepaid Plans
AT&T launched a new pre-paid 2GB, $15/month plan. After 2GB, data is throttled, but not cut-off.

Retail Locations
Other than a handful of stores across the country remaining open to serve first responders, most retail locations are closed. Limiting number of customers allowed in the stores remaining open with reduced hours, closed on Sunday.
Corporate Initiatives
AT&T created a $10M Distance and Learning and Family Connections Fund: Purpose of the fund is to help parents, students and teachers tools they need for at home learning.
Armstrong Cable
Customer Service Options
Armstrong Cable encourages the use of their online and digital self-service platform, use of their online and call-center resources for payment, service requests and to add or delete services.
Blue Ridge Communications
Waiving Fees
Data cap fees are waived until June 1, 2020 for new and existing customers. Offering flexible payment options for customers “experiencing financial difficulty due to the coronavirus.”
Customer Service
New trouble shooting feature launched to assist customers who are experiencing technical issues. Partnered with 10 cable channels to offer free previews until April 30 or May 1st.

Learn From Home Initiative – providing 10 meg high speed internet connection, modem and Wi-Fi to customers at no charge for 60 Days.

Free Wi-Fi for Everyone
Wi-Fi Hot Spots available to anyone, including non-Xfinity Internet subscribers.
Data Plan Pause
Comcast is pausing data plans for 60 days giving all customers Unlimited data for no additional charge.
Late Fees and Terminations
No late fees or disconnects if customers contact Comcast and explain they are having difficulty paying their bill.
New content on X1 and Flex
Educational content available for all student grade levels through a partnership with Common Sense Media.

For Customers:
Unlimited data for 60 Days to customers with metered Plans. Offering 20 GB of free mobile hotspot to customers. Waiving per-minute toll charges for international long distance to US to CDC-defined Level 3 countries.
T-Mobile
For Customers:
T-Mobile launched a new pre-paid plan that includes $15/month, unlimited talk/text plus 2GB of data and $30/month pre-paid plan that includes unlimited talk/text plus 5GB of data.
Verizon
Signed the “Keep America Connected Pledge” Pledge (FCC)
Waiving overage charges and late fees.
Lifeline customers to receive two months of waived internet and voice service charges, along with new affordable internet options for low-income households.
Adding 15GB of high speed data for wireless consumer and small business customers.
Providing First Responders with priority preemption abilities for voice and data.
No data caps for consumer and small business Fios and DSL broadband internet plans.

Harrisburg, PA – As COVID-19 cases continue to grow and the state continues to seek relief to save lives and stop the spread of COVID-19, today Governor Tom Wolf and Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine revised their “Stay at Home” orders to include Carbon, Cumberland, Dauphin and Schuylkill counties, bringing the state total to 26 counties under a stay-at-home order. This order takes effect at 8 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2020, and will continue until April 30. All stay-at-home orders are now extended through April 30. All Pennsylvania schools will remain closed until further notice. Non-life-sustaining business closures remain in effect.

The order now includes these 26 counties: Allegheny, Beaver, Berks, Bucks, Butler, Carbon, Centre, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Erie, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, Pike, Schuylkill, Washington, Wayne, Westmoreland and York counties.

Individuals may leave their residence only to perform any of the following allowable individual activities and allowable essential travel:

Tasks essential to maintain health and safety, or the health and safety of their family or household members (including pets), such as obtaining medicine or medical supplies, visiting a health care professional, or obtaining supplies they need to work from home
Getting necessary services or supplies for themselves, for their family or household members, or as part of volunteer efforts, or to deliver those services or supplies to others to maintain the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences
Engaging in outdoor activity, such as walking, hiking or running if they maintain social distancing
To perform work providing essential products and services at a life-sustaining business
To care for a family member or pet in another household
Any travel related to the provision of or access to the above-mentioned individual activities or life-sustaining business activities
Travel to care for elderly, minors, dependents, persons with disabilities, or other vulnerable persons
Travel to or from educational institutions for purposes of receiving materials for distance learning, for receiving meals, and any other related services
Travel to return to a place of residence from an outside jurisdiction
Travel required by law enforcement or court order
Travel required for non-residents to return to their place of residence outside the commonwealth
Anyone performing life-sustaining travel does not need paperwork to prove the reason for travel.
The following operations are exempt:

Life-sustaining business activities
Health care or medical services providers
Access to life-sustaining services for low-income residents, including food banks
Access to child care services for employees of life-sustaining businesses that remain open as follows: child care facilities operating under the Department of Human Services, Office of Child Development and Early Learning waiver process; group and family child care operating in a residence; and part-day school age programs operating under an exemption from the March 19, 2020 business closure Orders

Individuals experiencing homelessness are not subject to this order but are strongly urged to find shelter and government agencies are urged to take steps needed to provide shelter for those individuals.

International students, foster youth, and any other students who would otherwise experience displacement or homelessness as a result of campus closures are exempt and may remain in campus housing.

The Department of Education will be providing updated guidance and resources on the continuity of education for students to schools in the coming days.

At this time, law enforcement will be focused on ensuring that residents are aware of the order and informing the public of social distancing practices rather than enforcement. To report a noncompliant business, contact your local law enforcement agency’s non-emergency number or the nearest Pennsylvania State Police station. Please do not call 911 or the Department of Community and Economic Development to file reports. Law enforcement officers should refer to Business Closure Order Enforcement Guidance available online.

Good evening,

The SHSD will be providing grab n' go breakfast and lunches to all children under the age of 18 in Steelton Borough. The meals will be available at the following locations between 10:30 and 11:30 am every weekday until school resumes:

Memorial Park Concession Stand - Lumber Street

East End Park - South 4 and P Streets

Mt. Zion Church - Second and Locust Streets

New Primitive Baptist Church - Second and Mohn Streets

Please let everyone know the children will receive a lunch as well as breakfast for the next morning every day. Please note the bags will need be to refrigerated due to the milk included. Public Works will pick up the meals and take them to the above locations prior to 10:30 am.
