All the King's Horses A small farm dedicated to breeding quality Gypsy Vanners and European Brabants and nurturing relationships with the people who love them. Faith~Hope~Feather

A family owned and operated farm dedicated to breeding quality Gypsy Vanners and European Brabants. We offer foals from our horses as well as occasionally adult mares who are being retired from the breeding herd. Our horses are also used in our Logging with Horses operation in the winter.

Enjoyed an early morning ride with my sister who is in town for the holidays. We pondered why we never make this happen during the month she is home visit for the summer... But then recalled that we've alternated who is pregnant over the summer for the last four years so it wasn't really in the cards! Today was chilly but it was still great to be out with the girls and Maggie and Bree took great care of us :)

When we poured our winter feed pad last fall we had to remove a chunk of fencing. It was replaced with some sketchy poly wire fence until we could get around to putting up a woven wire run in the permanent winter area. Things went ok over the summer but lately the girls have been a bit naughty so we have to brave the cold and get this fence up :/ Tried out the new post pounder today and hit a few snags so tomorrow we troubleshoot and try again... Farm life is always an adventure!

Peppermint is looking lovely on this cold, snowy day. There's still time to put this powerhouse under your tree! Coggins is in hand and a CVI can be arranged for travel anywhere Santa's headed ;) Peppermint is a smart, personable lady with mass and a gorgeous build. She should mature around 14-14.1 hands and has GVHS papers. Message us to learn more!

Somehow I forgot to post this yesterday but we enjoyed doing something that's been on my list for a long time... Using a horse to bring in our Christmas tree! Typically we don't get much snow this early in the year (it's actually already melted with today's rain) so we seized the chance to make it happen! In true Courtney fashion we were not as prepared as we should have been... All of Dehan's harnesses and chainsaws were in his logging trailer at the other farm :/ But Maggie was a good sport and allowed us to thie off to the saddle horn while she brought it in. It was a little crazy but we all had fun!

Congratulations to all the exhibitors in the 2024 European Brabant Registry of America Virtual Horse Show! Everyone did a fantastic job and we enjoyed hearing the judges' feedback on all of the classes. A special congratulations to our friends at LowCountry Acres for their Grand Champion Stallion, the fantastic Viktor van de Kloosterhoeve, who has overcome some unimaginable hurdles to even be alive today, let alone reigning champion!

We are also so incredibly proud to share that our home bred filly, AKH Meliae, was named the 2024 Grand Champion Mare! I am absolutely in love with the way this girl is maturing and believe she really represents the kind of horse that we are trying to produce. At just 1.5 years old I can't wait to see what she will look like when fully mature.

Stay tuned for more photos of the amazing AKH bred horses that took part in the show. We are so proud of each of our babies and their owners for participating in the show and presenting their horses with pride and professionalism.

Hubby hit the woods with the logging crew yesterday for the first time this fall. The weather is calling for a lot of ups and downs over the next few weeks so it's likely to be sporadic for a while. But it's good to start getting the horses back in working shape so they can really get down to things after the holidays. The report on Birch and Barberry was that they are a 'perfect matched dream team to work' and we're very proud of Birch, our steady teacher, and Barberry, one of our young imports who has been lightly started in the woods the last couple of seasons and is now ready to take on a heavier work load.

If you like these kinds of updates be sure to follow our sister page With Horses on Facebook for lots more driving photos and stories about life in the woods!

Went out to feed this morning and discovered a couple of renegades... Apparently they've figured out that they can step over the low wall into the hay bunk and then meander out the open end... So I guess we'll be troubleshooting the design a bit to stop those antics!

November Days of Gratitude

Happy Thanksgiving! Today I am grateful for this season and a time to intentionally reflect on all the blessings we've been given. My natural bent is to be a bit of a pessimist so it is important to make the time to stop and consider the many, many good gifts in my life. I'm excited to spend the day celebrating and catching up with family. I hope everyone enjoys good food, good company and safe travels on the road!

November Days of Gratitude

Today I'm thankful for Woodman Tree Service. Dehan is wrapping up his spring/summer/fall work with them today and we're reminded of what a blessing his work there has been. Dehan spent many years self-employed and always said he'd never want to work for someone, but he has now been with Woodman for nearly a decade. The owner is a good friend and a very thoughtful business owner, always considering how he can invest in and bless his employees in addition to serving their customers well and growing the business. The group of guys enjoy working together and I am always blown away when I watch them at work- the efficiency with which they can remove a tree and make it look like nothing happened! While I know Dehan would at times love to be a full time farmer the reality is that we're blessed that he has a job that pays the bills and still provides a ton of flexibility for him to be available on the farm as needed. Now he gets to enjoy a break for farm projects and logging until spring, when they will start up again and clean up trees in the community... so if you are local and have trees that need trimming or removal be sure to get on their schedule for 2025!

November Days of Gratitude

Today I am thankful for the gift of technology. It's a double-edged sword, I know, but there are many benefits. I am grateful for video chats with family, the chance to share our story on social media, our effective foaling alarms that allow me to get a little extra sleep in a crazy season, and access to so many good resources online. We are always fighting the temptation to overuse technology but it is a big blessing to have it when we need it!

November Days of Gratitude

Today I'm thankful for the gift of a fresh day and week. Lately it seems like time just flies and the days are a strange mix of never-ending and 'over as soon as they've begun' Life with little kids, I guess :) There are so many things I want to do with our kiddos but it feels like we have so little time (not allocated to naps or feeding one or the other!) and my energy and patience often wear very thin as the day progresses. So while we can't do it all, each day is the chance to do *something* together to learn, bond, and just have fun. And when a day goes poorly, a new day is a gift to start over and try again. I don't know what's in store for today but I hope that we will make the most of it.

November Days of Gratitude

Today I'm especially thankful for all those who have taught and demonstrated the truth and beauty of the gospel to me throughout my life. From my parents to the teachers at my Christian school, my college campus ministry, the pastors who have led the various churches I've attended and the friends and mentors I've known there are so many people who have helped me to see, learn and remember truth one day at a time. In a world that bombards us with lies about where to find worth and fulfillment I am so thankful to be grounded in something greater than myself. It's so easy to forget, though, so I'll go again today to be reminded of what truly matters...

November Days of Gratitude

Today I'm thankful for health. Another one of those things we often don't really appreciate until it's gone ;) But with a couple of sick kiddos struggling and a bit of a sore throat myself I am reminded of how wonderful it is to be fully functional! Thankfully our health challenges are minimal, just a bit of a cold, and overall we are usually pretty healthy and able to be active and doing a lot of things. It's a blessing that too many people just don't have so moments like this remind me to be grateful for the gift of health and strength, especially in a lifestyle that demands a lot from us whether we're feeling well or not!

November Days of Gratitude- Family Friday Edition!

We can't go through a month of gratitude without mentioning our amazing 'daddy' 'hubby' and Dehan. He's the creative, hardworking, never-tiring reason that we can do what we do. From working in the woods or in town cutting trees to making hay to fixing fence and assisting with the breeding operation and horse management he has many talents and is always getting something accomplished. But he also makes time to build a playset for the little guys, play chase or hide and seek, or hang out with the little guy so I can take a shower or get the dishes done. We are so thankful that God gave him to our family and although I'm sure life looks nothing like what he expected when we met many years ago he takes it all in stride and blesses us in so many ways.

November Days of Gratitude

Today I'm thankful for a nice, warm house as our temperatures have dropped from 60 degrees yesterday to a high of 37 today, with snow flurries expected! Hard to believe that in a few short weeks 37 will sound super warm, but today it's going to be a hard transition. I am NOT a cold weather lover so this kind of a day is perfect for baking bread, putting a roast in the crock pot, and getting things done inside. That said, it's a lot less peaceful of a day with an energetic 2 year old farm kid tearing about the place, but I love him and we'll find some exciting projects to do and probably still take a walk at some point :) But having a warm place to retreat to is a huge blessing!

Our Story

Like many, we spent years dreaming of a Gypsy before we finally owned one. Our first mare came to us in 2014 and we quickly discovered that they really are the gentle beauties that they promise to be. We quickly added 2 more mares and a stud in order to have the joy of investing in our own breeding program and sharing the breed with others. Our Gypsies are used primarily for breeding and trail riding, although we are also trying to increase their time in harness to take advantage of their versatility.

In the fall of 2017 our herd expanded, through marriage, to include full size drafties. Our draft horse focus is on the Brabant horse- the foundation for the Belgian breed but now rare in the states. We find them to be a wonderful complement to the Gypsies with their stocky draft build, quiet temperaments and people-loving nature. They are used not only for breeding but also in our horse logging business and to pull wagons for farm events.

We offer purebred Gypsy and Brabant foals as well as occasionally some crosses, and stand out both our Gypys and Brabant studs. We also do carriage events on a limited basis. Contact us for more details on any of our horses for sale, breeding stock, events or logging opportunities. We feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to work with these two amazing breeds and love sharing what we have learned with others.
