What Happens After Culling?
Culling removes animals from the streets. But what happens next?

The remaining animals breed faster. There’s more food, more space, less competition.

The population rebounds — often within months. The cycle starts again.

Spay/neuter breaks the cycle. Fewer births. Less suffering. Real change.

Together we can create change. It's time to unite! Follow us and learn how.

What Tourism Should Support
Tourism can be a force for good. But only if it supports humane solutions.

Culling animals before tourist season is not the answer. It’s cruel. It’s temporary. It’s bad for communities. It's bad for tourism.

Spay/neuter programs reduce suffering, improve public health, and build trust between locals and visitors.

At CANDi-Cats and Dogs International, our vision is to bridge that gap. Follow us and let us show you how!

The Hidden Cost of Culling
Culling may seem “cheaper” than sterilization. But the truth? It’s not.

Hidden costs include: Toxins & cleanup, Kenneling & staff turnover, Public backlash, Rebounding populations

Culling becomes a never-ending cycle. More killing. More cost. No solution.

Spay/neuter is cheaper, kinder, and more effective. CANDi is working to make it the global standard. Help be part of our movement and show tourism we care!

What Is Culling, Really?
Culling sounds like a quick fix. But it’s not.

It means poisoning, shooting, or removing animals to be killed in shelters. It’s traumatic, expensive, and ineffective.

Culling only removes the animals you see — not the source. The population rebounds. The suffering continues.

Spay/neuter addresses the root cause. CANDi supports ongoing clinics with local rescue groups. It’s the only humane way forward. Join us and learn how you can help.

“The Power of Volunteers”

Photographer | Advocate for the Voiceless
Meet Tracey Buyce, an award-winning photographer and lifelong animal lover whose compassion turned a vacation into a mission.

In 2012, during a trip to Cancun, Tracey witnessed the heartbreaking sight of hundreds of stray dogs, sick, starving, and suffering, just blocks from luxury resorts.

“Horrified and in tears,” she searched for a way to help. That’s when she discovered CANDi-Cats and Dogs International.

Within weeks, Tracey was back in Mexico, not as a tourist, but as a volunteer, using her camera to tell the stories of the animals and the compassionate people working to save them. Her images gave a voice to the voiceless and inspired others to take action.

“He put his head in my lap and I was overwhelmed with empathy, love, and sadness,” Tracey recalls of one pit bull she met during a clinic.

Today, Tracey continues to volunteer her time and talent for CANDi’s mission while also supporting local shelters near her home in Ballston Spa, NY, where she lives with her three beloved corgis: Stanley, Sydney, and Bobbi Jo.

Her story reminds us that compassion knows no borders, and that every volunteer, every act of kindness, and every image has the power to change a life.

To all our volunteers: thank you for being the heart of CANDi.
You are proof that love, action, and storytelling can transform the world.

The Tourism Trap
Tourists love the beaches. But what happens to the stray dogs and cats when the crowds go home?

In some destinations, like Morocco ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, governments resort to culling — killing animals to “clean up” the streets.

It’s not just cruel. It doesn’t work. Populations rebound. The suffering continues.

The real solution? Spay/neuter programs — humane, effective, and sustainable. Tourism can do better. CANDi is leading the way.

The Cycle of Suffering
Imagine living where there are no vets. No shelters. No help. Your dog or cat has babies… and there’s nowhere for them to go.

They’re abandoned. They suffer from hunger, disease, or injury. And their babies have babies…

One unspayed female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in just 6 years. One cat? 370,000 kittens in 7 years2.

This is why spay/neuter is the only humane solution. Follow CANDi and together we can be their voice!
