Remember sweet Kyra? Here's a X-ray update! I've been working on her since July and now it's November. Look at the increase in sole depth and changes in bone angle. She went from barely walking to crushing it! I still want to see some more sole depth in the front right so we may do another round of therapy boots. However with the dedication from her owner and trusting me as her hoof care provider, working closely on diet changes, and meticulous care with therapy squish boots, I can happily say we have saved this horse and are turning her around for the better! We have some more toe to trim and some more adjustments but we are taking things slowly and over time to allow her feet to heal and adjust back to where they should

This is what I live for. This sweet girl is Kyra. She went from barely walking on the brink of euthanasia from founder/rotation, to me getting a phone call from the veterinarian and xrays sent my way asking if I could save this horse. Of course I said yes I'll give it my best shot. I'm proud to say we just put her in her second set of squish boots and she's doing absolutely fantastic! Loot at her rockin' her pink shoes!

The last one on Pogies farm list today was Dream. I Fixed up his feet in no time and now he's walking on a fresh new set of feet! I love taking something messy and turning it into something beautiful that benefits the animals 🥰

Had a long hot day, however we got this sweet donkey her much needed hoofcare with a whole "pit crew". She got brushed, fly sprayed, and hooves trimmed and treated. She's a bit of a shy donkey and not super trusting with strangers so we had to sedate her to get everything done. However I know she's walking and feeling much better.

We now offer hoof casting!
If you have re occurring hoof cracks, white line/seedy toe or just need some extra support for the hoof wall.

In the case of the photos below, we are working on healing some white line and protecting and supporting the hoof wall as we prevent further cracking.
We exposed the compromised hoof wall to the air, applied medicated artimud clay to infected areas and then applied the hoof casts.

Welcome Wilbur to the Kotor trimming program. This was our second trim together and he did wonderful as always once he relaxed and trusted me to hold his feet and place them where he could feel the most comfortable. I look forward to continuing to get his feet in shape and looking the best they can be. Working on these big gentle giants have always been a favorite of mine and close to my heart.

Always a pleasure working on and meeting new horses. Please welcome Chance and his friend Ruby(not pictured) to the Kotor Hoof Trimming program. Two very sweet older horses that were perfect for their trims. And their owner Sue was just as sweet and such a pleasure to talk to and get to know. She was very pleased with my availability to schedule in a timely manner and fit her in right away. She was pleased with how the trims turned out, and I'm excited to continue the journey with them and keep her horses comfortable. I am so glad to be able to do what I love, and meet all the wonderful horses in the process.

A day in the life of a farrier. Captured by the lovely Miss Jessica over at Trail of Faith Farms . I have had the pleasure of working on their horses for a little over a year now and love every minute of it.

If you haven't had the opportunity to check them out please do! Jessica and her team offer not only training and riding lessons, but also opportunities for both military veterans and disabled body riders to have a chance to enjoy horses in their therapeutic riding programs.
They also host wonderful fun horse shows and experiences throughout the year.
