Well….i think it’s been over a year since I’ve made a post. No we didn’t die😅 just been tremendously busy and posting goes by the way side. My apologies on that. Hopefully most of you are following Andrew and getting almost daily posts! He’s younger than this “old school” guy right here🤦‍♂️ Anyway, I’ll try to do better! Just wanted to say good luck Turkey and bear hunters!! We hope to see you in the taxidermy shop!!

I honestly feel a little guilty posting pictures of me hunting when we have so much work to get done and such little time before September gets here. But as anybody who knows me knows, I love hearing about your hunting goals and dreams. And one hunt I hear hunters talk about often as a dream hunt in my shop are red stag (or red deer). Most people assume New Zealand is the place to go. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I hope to go someday myself. But most of New Zealand is high fence, and while I’m not opposed to that, I really wanted to hunt stag in a free range environment. Fortunately for me a truly good friend and great hunter invited me to tag along with him on his hunt in Argentina. From all the research I’ve done Argentina has some of the best/biggest free range red stag hunting in the world. And the price is incredibly reasonable! If you thought stag hunting was out of your financial reach, you might want to look at Argentina! They also have some monster blackbuck, huge Asian water buffalo, axis deer, mouflan sheep, fallow and a host of other off the wall sheep and goats. Plus amazing food and great people. Anyway, I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have about this hunt. If it’s in your wheelhouse of dreams....... make it happen!! Time to pursue that red stag dream you’ve always had!

This is definitely one of the more exciting mounts we’ve worked on for a while. These are bezoar ibex from Turkey. Spectacular animals living their lives out in amazing mountains half way around the world. If you’ve never thought about an ibex hunt you should reconsider. The ibex family is huge covering many different continents and countries. Adventure awaits!

Ever since I was a little kid I thought Cape buffalo mounts were the coolest mount ever. I don’t think in my wildest dreams back then I thought I’d ever actually have one of my own. Then in May of 2019 my childhood dream of having a Cape buffalo mount came one step closer when I got the chance to harvest this magnificent bull. Four years later the mount is a reality. A HUGE shout out to my besties in South Africa, Werner and Carmen at Cheetau Safaris, for being the best part of this dream hunt.

Anyway, for reasons unknown to me a bull that one of my best friends has hunted incredibly hard for the last 3 years decided to walk into my life on my second Sunday morning sit at a very remote water hole in the panhandle of Idaho. We’ve had trail camera pictures of this bull since 2018. Up till 2020 he was a heavy 6x6 but as the years passed age caught up to him and he began the process of regressing. The third picture is him at the water hole September 3rd. His first appearance of this year and his only appearance until I killed him on the 18th. The second picture of him was taken literally one second before the arrow struck, a perfect heart shot. Pretty wild. The 4th picture is him in 2021 when he regressed to a heavy 4x6. And the last picture is him in 2019 when he was still a big 6x6. This was a bitter sweet hunt as this bull probably deserved to die naturally on the mountain where he’s eluded wolves, lions, winters and hoards of hard core elk hunters, instead of to me, an average elk hunter with really no time to pursue elk due to my occupation. I’ll miss looking forward to seeing him on the cameras in 2023. But then maybe this would have been his final winter anyway. To my friend Tim this should have been your elk. But if there’s one thing I know, elk hunting isn’t fair. I’ll revel in the memories of all the fun years this bull filled our dreams. Thanks Old boy. You were a worthy elk that I am probably unworthy of taking off the mountain. Thanks for the lifetime memories.

Well it’s been an incredibly busy year and I’ve had almost no time to even make a post! Don’t worry we didn’t disappear. Haha. Just been working incredibly hard to wrap up last year’s mounts. Hard to imagine hunting season is already upon us. Archery antelope and Dall sheep have already been pouring in so here’s an antelope we recently wrapped up. Look forward to again hearing all your upcoming hunting stories. If you’re still waiting on a mount, I promise it’s coming up! Best wishes for another successful fall for all of you! See ya in the taxidermy shop!
