Looking to rehome an animal, find rescue for a stray, or adopt an animal? Here's a good place to start.
The Rescue Me page allows the user to search specific breeds to adopt as well as breed specific rescues. And of course mixed breeds as well. The user can refine the search by state.
When looking to rehome, don't limit the search to your state. There are groups dedicated to transport. The link to the 293 Alabama dog rescues will be in the comments.
Always check out a rescue before sending an animal there. With the understanding that rescuers have animals in various stages of healing, from those picked up in the last few days, those healing from starvation, injury, or lack of grooming, to those ready for adoption, here are some 🚩 to look for
🚩owner, employees, or volunteers have prior charges for animal abuse/neglect or hoarding
🚩avoids site visits-willing to drive long distances when transport offered for delivery
🚩cannot provide local vet reference
🚩no spay/neuter policy
🚩no intake isolation period for new rescues
