Yesterday, Dr. Breidenbach and I had the honor of presenting at Career Day for Bellevue Elementary School on Grace Street in Church Hill. This marks our fifth Career Day event with local elementary schools this year, and it is always one of our favorite ways to connect with our community. 🏫
Each presenter had their own classroom, and students rotated through in 15-minute sessions. We met with five wonderful groups, with students split between us and a representative from the Veterinary Sciences program at Hermitage High School. The kids were so well-behaved, curious, and full of great questions!
🩻 X-rays are always a crowd favorite, and the students had a blast trying to figure out what was going on with each “patient.” We also brought along a variety of tools and hands-on items (including a bag of bladder stones to go along with one of the X-rays) for them to explore as we talked about what it takes to become a veterinarian - from important personality traits to educational requirements. We highlighted what a veterinarian’s day-to-day work looks like, the different types of veterinarians in the field, and even those who work behind the scenes to help protect human health.
Of course, the kids delivered some of the most amazing (and hilarious!) questions and comments. There is truly never a dull moment when sharing our profession with young minds! 😂
We are so grateful for the opportunity to inspire the next generation and to support our local schools. Thank you, Bellview Elementary, for having us! 🐾❤️
