Zion’s Touch is a professional pet service that specializes in therapeutic canine and equine massage as well as professional dog training. We use Therapeutic Massage and Reiki/Healing Touch techniques to aid in a healthier, well-balanced pet. Zion’s Touch will come to you and work with your pets which allows them to feel more relaxed in its own environment, therefore maximizing the benefits of t

he massage. The benefits of massage in dogs and horses is much like that of a human massage. These benefits are for more than just performance animals; it’s for all dogs and horses. Benefits include:

Reduces stress, tension and tight muscles
Enhances muscle tone
Increases flexibility and movement
Improves circulation and blood flow
Helps in conditioning and to prevent injuries
Helps to stimulate detoxification
Provides support to the immune system
Helps to calm anxiety and nervousness
Improves overall well-being and disposition

We also offer Private Obedience Training for dogs. Training is given in personalized, private sessions using positive techniques. Following an initial assessment, a training plan will be prepared for you and customized to your pet to ensure complete success. It takes many repetitions for a dog to catch on to the desired behavior, therefore home exercises will be provided to reinforce training. We will come to you so that your pet can be more relaxed and better focused during training. The less distractions a dog or puppy has during training, the faster it can learn. Zion’s Touch services Henrico, VA and surrounding areas and would love to help train your dog as well as give your dog and/or horse a therapeutic massage. It doesn't matter which service you may choose, your pet will thank you for it!

Zion’s Touch dog training can help you train one dog while the other stays in their place. In this quick video, the Beagle is being taught “Paw” (give paw) while Allie Mae patiently waits in her “Place”. As you can see, Allie Mae responds to the “Paw” cue and never leaves her “Place”. The Beagle is still learning, but I felt this video was too cute not to share.
This video reflects several things we’ve taught these pups: sit, stay, place, impulse control, and paw.

Here are just a few of the benefits:
* Physical heath - Massage can improve circulation, reduce pain, increase flexibility and range of motion.
* Mental health - Massage can help relieve stress and anxiety, and help promote a more relaxed disposition.
* Health assessment - Massage can help identify lumps, swelling, or changes in skin or hair.
* Teaching - Massage can help your puppy (or new dog) see touch as a positive experience.

Now it’s time to relax and know that Zion’s Touch can help your pet be its best. Whether your pet needs some help with training or your dog and/or horse needs the benefits of receiving a massage, Zion’s Touch can provide these for you.

Did something bark on Christmas morning? If you have a new pet, please consider scheduling training with Zion’s Touch to help provide basic manners, safety manners, and some fun tricks for your new family member.

In this video showing recall, there are a few things taught in order for this girl to give me the automatic sit at the end of the recall.
1. The “Sit” command was taught.
2. The recall word “Here!” needed to be paired with the action for here to understand what I wanted.
3. Putting steps 1 & 2 together so that the dog gives an automatic sit when she comes to me.
