FOSTER NEEDED ASAP!

Because of your emails, August lives to see many more doggo days! We are thrilled to welcome him to Sandy Paws Sanctuary.

However, he needs a foster ASAP! Our original foster can no longer take him. If August doesn’t find a foster by tomorrow, we will have to close out intake. Meaning, we unfortunately cannot take anymore dogs like August in. We can’t treat this as a freedom until we know August won’t have to go into to boarding which is pretty similar to the shelter.

Riverside just sent this video of a dog with no name. The last time we received a video of a pup like this, he was killed 6 hours later. Let’s not let history repeat itself. We will not let this be the last time he gets to run and play. We need a foster and/or adopter to save this sweet boys life. Let’s all email the shelter to begging them to keep him alive, as we are working on getting an exit plan in place.

Penelope is on fleek, thanks to !

Penelope was in dire need of a bath, as she lived outside before coming to the shelter. This was probably one of her first baths in years, if not ever. With that said, she was a bit nervous arriving at the groomers for the first time. However, the staff was very welcoming and put Penelope at ease. She hopped in the tub like it was nothing. During her bath, Penelope was so dirty the water turned black. They even managed to get all of the stubborn flea dirt out!

We highly recommend Bowie Barker to anyone with a rescue pup who is in need of a spa treatment. Don’t forget to try one of their doggie CBD cookies!

Since opening our rescue 3 months ago, we have been able to save over 50 dogs from euthanasia. Giving the best care possible to our dogs, which includes training, dog walkers, daycare, high quality dog food, and a lot of toys, really adds up. This raffle will hopefully allow us to reopen our intake and save more precious lives. As many of you know California is in one of the worst shelter crisis in the country, everyday we have to say goodbye to multiple healthy and adoptable dogs. Opal, fka Limon, is our newest ! Another beautiful black dog in danger of loosing her life simply because there was no space for her. That is about to change as at Sandy Paws Sanctuary, all of our pups belong and have a special place to be.

Bean- A black pitty with clipped ears, one of the most overlooked type of shelter dogs. He came to Downey with a broken tail (it was amputated) and scars all over his body. To top it all off, he can be killed at Downey Shelter any day.

Lily just got out of surgery. She had to have 2 surgeries. One on her lung and one on her right leg. She is on crate rest until she heals a bit more.

Village, we need your more than ever. Lily’s surgeries were expensive in total they amounted out to 3500. We are humbly asking for your support so we can rescue more pups like dear Lily.

Our 3 year old Husky needs a home! He is the perfect boy; he is house trained, crate trained, and will keep you in shape. Zephyr is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinations. He is good with all other dogs and people, including kids.

Zephyr was rescued from a high kill shelter, not long before he would have been euthanized.

I know everyone says this, but updates like these are truly why we do it. If anything, why my hero does it. This was honestly her save.

Here is the text I received last night: “I’m sorry I haven’t had a chance to message much. We took Baby Boy Mister Man “Buddy” is what my husband keeps calling him, to the vet yesterday and explained his whole situation… which after getting the whole story from my husband, is so much worse and heartbreaking than I even have time to explain right now, but our vet said this poor dog has been through enough for now, as he tried to draw blood and he was terrified, so we will do a full blood panel after he has had a little time to decompress, but he’s on antibiotics for now, and getting homecooked food, TLC and lots of needed rest. He is very attached to my husband already. Here he is carrying his baby. ♥️”

Baby boy, now Mister Man, from West LA is free! I am just obsessed with his sugar dipped muzzle.

He is now on the way to the vet, where he will get all of his shelter sicknesses treated. Once he is feeling 100 percent he will be ready to find his forever fam!

This post is bittersweet as we lost 5 precious dogs to our corrupt shelter system. However, Jose (freedom name coming soon) wasn’t one of them.

We had a few people offer to foster/adopt but they all fell through unfortunately. He was almost a lost case. At the 11th hour a foster came through, and we rushed to let the shelter know, so Jose wouldn’t loose his life today.

We rescue Jose in memory of all his fallen friends, Bonnie, Eldritch, Starburst, Akira, and Howerton, we are so sorry we weren’t able to save you. You are missed.

Miss Hanaan escaped euthanasia just in the nick of time! She and her brother were surrendered together by the only family they ever knew. Hanaan’s brother was adopted, leaving her all alone and at the top of the euthanasia list. With an amazing foster offer, we were able to swoop in and save her!
