Jane is about ready to go home, going to miss riding this filly!

One of my favorite drills to do with c**ts before putting them on the pattern or they go to the next person. Teaching one to be fluid and carry themselves around a barrel away from the pattern can save a lot of time and headache when putting one on the barrels.

People often ask if I have any expectations before bringing their c**ts to me to be broke to which my answer is always a trip to the vet and nothing else. If they’ve been handled lightly and can be caught: a healthy weight, wolf teeth pulled and floated, hopefully they’ve been trimmed a time or two, and a coggins is ideal… nothing more. If they’re a bit feral and haven’t had as much handling, we can work on getting those basics knocked out after getting my hands on them. I’ve had owners have them saddled, have some ground work done, or had a bit in their mouth ground driving, which is cool… but regardless of what’s been done I treat every c**t as if it knows nothing. Every c**t gets started back from ground zero and worked down my check list to make sure there’s no holes and that I have all the tools I’ll need to not only safely swing a leg over for the first time, but hopefully avoid other issues down the road.
