Last night we got a call from some friends of ours - they had been seeing a little kitten curled up on their porch for a couple of days and wanted help trapping her.
She was a little hissy at first, but with the help of some snacks she came around quickly and was giving me headbutt after headbutt.
She’s hanging out in a kennel in my garage until she gets cleaned up and then we’ll bring her inside.
We are set on food and medical supplies at the moment, with our greatest need honestly being help finding her a good home!
She is about 10 weeks old, sweet as can be, and will be fixed, vaccinated and dewormed for her loving forever family.
If you know anyone who has been thinking about adding a special little kitten to their life - send them my way! 💓 and please share this post to help find sweet little stripes a forever home!
well well well - look who visited today. The eyeball fairy! 🧚♀️🪄👀
Kittens are born with their eyes closed, and they usually don’t open until week 2 of life. This is because their eyes are still developing and their little eyeballs are extremely fragile! The eyelid acts as a barrier of protection so that their eyes can continue to develop. Once they do open, it takes about another week or so for them to adjust and see clearly (around weeks 3-4).
It’s very, very important to let the eyes open on their own. Forcing them open in any way could damage the vision of the kitten and cause discomfort.
Here you can see Ernie’s eyes just starting to open - I guess that they’ll be fully open and a little responsive by tomorrow! I wonder how shocked he’s gonna be when he founds out his mom is a blonde lady and not a fuzzy mama cat 😳
