Lena doing a little ground work
Lena doing a little light lunging. She is doing great with voice cues, and being tacked up like a big girl. Now I just need a baby cinch so she can progress to carrying a saddle.
Morning zoomies
Morning playtime! I just love to watch them.
Yankee having a roll in the pasture
The only non fjord I own and the oldest horse on the farm, my 22yr old quarter horse Yankee. He is living his best, mostly retired life. He loves to have a roll in the grass.
Lena and Gertie
With the promise of a little grain, they always come up for the night when called. I don’t have to ask them twice.
Lena loves her scratches
Lena has always been a sucker for scratches. That is the way to her heart. With all the bugs, her new favorite place to be scratched is her udder. She LOVES it. As she is a broodmare prospect, it is great that she is very comfortable with being freely handled this way.
My departed mare Sonja loved udder scratches too.
Kjaer at driving training
Kjaer has been away at training for about 10 days. I went to go visit him for the first time today. Other than one naughty incident, he has been progressing every day. He has been used on farm implements and driven single. My husband and I each got to for a ride with him!
Lena’s first show warmup
Lena has been amazing all day! Here are a couple clips from her warmup! She didn’t bat an eye at anything.
It’s raining again
Well look… it’s raining again 🌧️
Will it ever dry out long enough so I can ride my horse again?
Snack time
They will always come running in for snacks! They only get about 1lb of ration balancer a day, but they think it’s a big deal 😆.
Mother’s Day visit
My grandma came out to visit with the horses for Mothers Day. The friendly and people loving personality of a fjord is so wonderful. They will stand there as long as she wants to pet them. Kjaer has always been her favorite.
Lena’s first time wearing a girth
Lena’s first time wearing a girth went without issue. No excitement whatsoever. I did not expect much for entertainment, nor do I want any. Her lack of a response shows she wasn’t scared or confused as to what was going on. She has had ropes around her belly preparing her for a girth. Even so, I did think that maybe she would complain just a little bit 😆. She can be a little dramatic at times. Nope! Good girl 💕
She will be two years old in August.
Grass is the best treat.
It’s still a little too wet to ride from our storms the other day. Kjaer and I played with a little groundwork!
I think I may have discovered the easiest and most rewarding way to trick train a fjord to lay down. Just work over some grass 😆.
Kjaer and Lena
Kjaer and Lena having grooming session.
Friday evening ride!
Kjaer and I took a little walk up the driveway again this evening. Good boy!
Lena and Gertie zoomies

Yankee is living his best left this Saturday!
It’s heartwarming to see my old man frisky enough to want to play. Rolling is his favorite
Lena loving her scratches in the warm up arena early this morning. We’re here to have fun with our horses, and to make it fun for them.
My husband spent some time with the girls yesterday evening. They loved the attention.
It is a good thing I did so much work for fair over the weekend, I have unfortunately come down with whatever illness my husband had last week. I might need to wear a “do not pet” sign at the fair.
On a serious note, please respect those signs when you see them at the fair this year. You will likely see them a lot, my group included. Horse owners are being generous by still bringing our special ponies to the fair despite some recent health warnings. Please respect the owners wishes. We want to keep everyone healthy while at the fair, and when they return home.
Enjoying the beautiful day.
