So so happy to announce that my best friend GiGi will be joining me as a pet-sitter!! It breaks my heart every time I have to decline a booking due to availability, especially with repeat clients who have already gone through the process of finding a reputable sitter they trust. For a while, Iā€™ve been looking for a second sitter I can refer people to that can provide the same level of quality care and compassion that I bring to every booking. Well, GiGi has excitedly taken up that position! She is truly one of the kindest, most dedicated, and reliable people Iā€™ve ever had the joy of meeting. Today my day was made when this pretty kitty approached me on the street and started rubbing against my leg! I went into the CVS around the corner to get them some food (the good stuff, of course), and came back and hung out with them while they ate. They then went back inside to a shop (which I assume was their home). Truly a wonderful morning!!

**I pet and interacted with this cat because it first approached me, so I deemed the situation safe. I would not suggest approaching random cats on the street unless you are 100% certain they are safe to interact with!

Like humans, dogs can have their own traumas too.

This is Luna, who was actually my very first client when I started pet-sitting. As a rescue, her past was truly tragic, resulting in her (understandably) taking a bit more time than other dogs to trust new people.

When I first house-sat her, she would not come out from under her ownerā€™s bed, and mostly kept to herself. However, with compassion, patience, and plenty of treats, Luna finally warmed up to me.

When seeing her the other day, she gave me a mountain of kisses and would not stop smiling. It truly warms my heart to see how far sheā€™s come.

Puppies, puppies, puppies!

Iā€™m always so excited when I get a request for a puppy. They are so fun to be around and always have a way of brightening my day! One of my favorite parts of the job is watching them grow over time. As a once puppy-owner myself, I completely understand how they can feel more like children than petsā˜ŗļø

Hi there! My name is Lanie, and I hope to be a companion to your critterā€” cat, dog, rabbit, you name it! Hereā€™s a bit about me:

ā€¢How I got into pet-sittingā€¢

Since moving to Hoboken from Louisiana, itā€™s been difficult to find nearby shelters to volunteer at. Not being able to have a pet of my own here has been hard, so I originally decided to get on a pet care app to surround myself with animals and the joy they bring to me. Since my start in April, my clientele has grown significantly, so I decided to branch out and start a business of my own! Through the creation of Lanie the Critter Companion (LTCC), I hope to bring a warm, compassionate approach to pet care in the Hoboken area.

ā€¢Previous experienceā€¢

Iā€™ve had my current dog (a german shepherd) for 5 years. Since she was a puppy, I would bathe her, feed her, groom her, and of course give her plenty of love! I would sleep right beside her crate, and even take her outside at 3am if she whined to go potty. Iā€™ve had cats my entire life, and even volunteered at a cat shelter for 1 year taking care of up to 12 cats at a time. I would feed them, clean their litter boxes, play with them, do laundry if they had accidents, and even clean the floors of the shelter. In addition to this, I have owned and taken care of a very feisty Rex rabbit for the past 3 years!

ā€¢How Iā€™ll treat your critterā€¢

I make it my goal to form a bond with any animal I have the joy of meeting. I will do my best to ensure your animal is not overwhelmed by a new face, and will of course give them plenty of love and attention! When taking care of your pet, I will send you continuous updates with plenty of photos. Please let me know your communication preferences beforehand, though (e.g; how often you want to be contacted), as I definitely donā€™t want to disturb you with a mountain of notifications while youā€™re away! If house-sitting, I will make sure you come back to a home that looks better than you left it, in addition to a happy petā˜ŗļø
