Amelia, Amy & Ava had to fight SO hard to gain weight! Just a month ago we wouldn’t have believed these Buddha Bellies were possible! Now they eat more than ANY other group of kittens I’ve had.
Now the rest of their bodies should catch up soon, especially Amelia’s tiny little head 😂😍

Hello Sweetpea & Charlie 💕🐾
We have been an "overnight auntie" to several kittens this year (pics coming soon!) as sometimes the ability to give temporary safe haven allows the rescue more time to secure a permanent foster home and helps more babies get safer -- especially with euthanasia deadlines sometimes popping up every day 😭. Most times it's less than 24 hours, but sometimes we are asked to tend babies for a few days. There have been so many emergency kitten placements recently-- it has been an incredibly overwhelming kitten season this year! - that we were absolutely ok with loving these babies for a whole week so available fosters could take more urgent cases. These babies have been little dreams and today they go to their forever foster to thrive 😻
Being an overnight auntie is one of our favorite things because our foster family really can take in only 1 litter full time (it's all we can manage and keep up with our little humans 😂) and we feel good to help in this temp capacity because there's just so many in need!

Welcome Pebbles & Bam Bam 💕🐾
We primarily foster bottle fed kittens but we saw these babies with a euthanasia deadline at animal control and knew we could step up to help. Found huddled under a car in Chicago these poor babies were emaciated and dehydrated to the point it was difficult to pinch the skin away from their boney bodies to administer injectable fluids and vitamins to help them recover. They were covered in an oily substance that multiple Dawn baths could barely touch, were grimy and had feces stuck to their long fur. They had such a rough experience. Once cleaned up they showed us how much they loved being handled and would eat enthusiastically then stop for comfort pets and then go back to eating. Although we were pretty worried the first few days because they were so lethargic and starved they began gaining and playing and have since completely stabilized. They are doing so well that as of this afternoon they got their first set of vaccines and moved on to live with our co-foster, Morgan 😻 and will be available for adoption soon at @andersonhumane
CACC (Chicago Animal Care & Control) is completely full and the local rescues are overflowing to the point that they aren't able to rescue more because there aren't enough fosters to help! Please consider helping by donating time (volunteer!), donating resources ($$, supplies & food!) or donating space in your home (fostering!) as creatures like these have nowhere to go and it's becoming desperate. Sweet Sloane left us suddenly overnight & we are devastated.
She hadn’t even been officially introduced with her brothers, Ferris & Cameron.
Losing a 7 week kitten who seemed perfectly healthy is something we haven’t experienced. It’s more common for an orphan kitten to pass at a much younger age.
Sloane was running, playing & cuddling through the weekend but vomited a few times Sunday night. It was noteworthy but typically not a big deal.
Monday morning when I opened the enclosure let them out I knew right away she was gone. She was too still. We’ll never know what happened but the other kittens are totally healthy as of today.
Sloane was with us for 5 weeks. She was the softest, sassiest little tortie. She loved to be held, she loved to eat & play. She had a croaky meow. She was a perfect kitten & then she was gone.
I want to remember her by how she made us all laugh, by the way my daughter thought I had named her “Slurn”, and for being a light in our lives, however briefly.
She was here. She mattered. She was lucky to live as long as she did. ❤️🩹 She’s a casualty of the feline overpopulation crisis. Support your local rescues & spay/neuter programs. Foster some kittens this fall, please.

Unbox some Kittens with us!
On 6/24 We got an alert for 3 bottle babies at Chicago Animal Care & Control (CACC) who were on a 7pm deadline. Deadline means if there is no available foster to feed every 2-3 hours the kittens are humanely €uthanized. This is the fate of thousands of kittens every year due to lack of fosters & lack of space/staff/funding at shelters.
Lisa could not let this happen when she knew she could save this litter. The kittens were claimed with just minutes to spare. Minutes.
Our “unboxing” revealed filthy, underweight 2 week old kittens with upper respiratory infections & fleas. Lisa fixed them right up though and once they were healthy & weaned from the bottle to kitten food they came to Morgan’s house.
They are now sweet, active babies who are working on gaining weight & socializing until they are ready for surgery and adoption! Probably around the end of August.
The black& tabby/white are boys and the tortie is a girl (obviously)! Keep an eye out for their adventures in the coming weeks!

Cheeto & Frito - the Great Gingers 😻
It's been a long update coming for these little 2 week old neonatal kittens. They were tube-fed every meal around the clock (every 2-3 hours!) for over a week and kept our anxiety high as we could only do so much to work against the situation they were born into. We finally saw them take latch-sips from the bottle, more each day, and we could tube feed them less. Then they had a bit of a set back with a mild URI and another round of meds to combat that, but they are growing and wiggly and snuggly. They are beautiful and we are obsessed.

We have 3 sick neonates struggling hard to thrive and they could really use some good vibes right now.
Newly born kittens were discovered outside in a very critical state, some unresponsive and all wet and icy cold. 2 sadly didn't survive long enough to be transported to us and 1 soon followed his litter mates over the rainbow bridge. We are tube feeding the surviving 3 kittens as they are too weak and ill. There are 2 sweet gingers and 1 dark haired baby with an intense fever coat (silver highlights due to mom being sick and feverish during pregnancy).
Their struggle is real as the unfortunate circumstances of being born outside in the frigid Chicago area weather may have caused damage their little bodies may not recover from. For now they seem willing to fight and so we will support and fight with them around the clock as long as they need. Thank you Anderson Humane for rescuing these babies!

Who remembers Peep, the tiny but mighty Paneleukopenia survivor? He’s all grown up thanks to his Champion, Allie. Allie saved Peep’s life by rescuing him, advocating for his urgent medical needs, got him to Lisa for intensive care & ultimately fostering him. Her good work didn’t stop with Peep. Through her enormous heart, Allie saw the bigger picture of animals in need and kept going! First, Allie gifted us almost our entire Amazon wish!! Formula, Rescue Disinfectant, Toys, Kitten Kibble, Cozy Bedding, Towels – SO MUCH that will help SO MANY ORPHANED KITTENS! We were amazed and grateful. What she did next left us awed. Unbeknownst to us, Allie and her mom Paula put together Bingo Fundraising Event in honor of Peep & Kitten Foster Corner. They raised $2,010 to donate to Anderson Humane and her employer matched the funds for a total donation of $4020!! This donation will be lifechanging to so many animals. Anderson Humane helps thousands of creatures and also treats their fosters with great respect and appreciation. We do not have adequate words to describe how much this act of kindness from Paula & Allie has filled our hearts. Little Peep was found on the streets of Chicago, next to his deceased mother. He was given safe haven by Allie, who saw he was very sick. She reached out to Kitten Foster Corner and brought him in for critical intervention overnight until he could see the vet. Peep was diagnosed with Feline Panleukopenia, an incredibly contagious, usually fatal, virus. Over 90% of kittens do not survive. The outlook was grim but we were determined & with the medical support of Anderson Humane we were able to nurse him back to health. Allie was with us at every turn offering love and support for the weeks it took for Peep to stabilize. She then took him home to foster and found him a forever family. Allie still sees Peep regularly & he has grown up strong and healthy.
