Gunner here!!!! It’s been 369 days since I was brought into the clinic as a puppy. I have grown up here my whole life. I’ve watched the excitement of friend after friend as they walk out the doors leaving for their new home. I sit in my kennel and wonder why no one wants me and why it’s never my turn. I have grown very fond of my favorite volunteer and she takes me 3-4 times a week on outings while she works. This has really helped me learn the ways of normal life but I still have a little to learn. I am very shy of new people and hate loud noises. I’m very curious to go meet them, I am always friendly once I warm up. This is gonna be hard to believe but I NEVER bark, I think they are starting to wonder if I even know how!!! I love to take walks or (sniffs) and do very well on a leash. I get along with all dogs and love to play. I ride well in a car with my seatbelt. This last week I got the courage to hang my head out the window, now it's my favorite new thing. I’m gonna need a patient owner that introduces me to “normal” life slowly, and a home that isn’t too chaotic. It is probably best that I’m in a home with older children due to jumping when I’m excited. I’m dog friendly and really need a friend to help me build some confidence. If you want an extremely gentle loving sweet and VERY quiet friend with the cutest face and ears, I would love to come and be a part of your family. There will be tears of joy the day i get to walk out of here so excited knowing I'm the "One" someone finally decided to pick.

Ekko was a bottle baby that we’ve had for a while. Ekko is sweet, social, friendly and playful. Ekko is a female and is fully vetted. She does great with other cats as well. If you’re interested in adopting Ekko send us a message!

Romeo came to us as an owner surrender from Oklahoma. When doing his wellness check it was discovered he was heartworm positive. He underwent the long and grueling treatment which includes a lot of rest and not much activity for at least 4 months. Once he was cleared he was sent to a foster. After a few weeks they noticed his legs were bothering him so we immediately sent him in to have Dr check him out. The results were heartbreaking and unexpected. Turns out his legs both never formed correctly due to being brutally abused as a puppy. Unfortunately there is no treatment to reverse what has been done but he is still able to live a normal life that can be managed with pain meds when he has flare ups. Romeo is a gentle guy who just loves to watch everything you do with such curiosity. He is very low key. You can find him in his bed with his bone or outside soaking up the sun. He gets along with all the other dogs in his foster home, and can be playful. He does need an introduction with new people and pets who come to visit. Right now they kennel him when a guest comes in and then once all the commotion stops they let him out to say hi. Due to his past Romeo needs understanding and a calm voice when being redirected, he is very scared and can assume you are going to do the worst. He would probably do best in a slower paced home. If you are looking for a wonderful companion that has such a tender loving heart, Romeo is definitely your guy. He has been through more than any dog should ever have to endure and he really needs a place to call home so he can settle in and feel loved everyday from here on out! So much love that he can forget his ugly past.

Ok guys, I’m gonna step on a soap box for a minute. We still have so many wonderful dogs that are looking for homes. I will be trying to find other rescues if I have to, BUT I don’t want to, these are great dogs and just need the right home. They have so much potential and have made great progress as it is. If I send them someplace else, then it will likely set them all back to square 1. We NEED people to share the upcoming posts. There is almost 4,000 people who like this page. You’re telling me, that not 1 person would want to adopt a great dog, or know someone who does? SO PLEASE SHARE!!!

First up is Farrah Pawcett 🐾

Farrah came in with a huge mass on her belly. We thought it was a mammory mass but it ended up being a giant hematoma with 1/2 of her body parts sucked down in it. Once we realized that’s what it was, we knew that it was the root of the problem, it became quite clear this poor girl was living in unimaginable pain for who knows how long, and with that came a lot of attitude and mistrust. She spent many weeks in the office healing , showing off the cutest underbite and slowly becoming quite the hoot. She loved her toys and her bed but wasn’t a fan of any other dogs or strangers and would pretty much just snap at anytime. A foster reached out and said “let me take her home and mix her in with the gang, what do we have to lose”!!! The first few days were rough but day after day with love and direction Farrah learned that she can make friends of all sorts. She has met 12 dogs in total and she plays nice with them all except for the resident King of the house Harvey the Chihuahua, he definitely is the instigator! She has loved every visitor that stops by even the little kids. She loves it when anyone gets down on the floor to play and really shows off her personality. Farrah listens extremely well to all direction and will head straight to her crate when you nicely ask her to. She gives a fair warning with a little growl if she doesn’t want to be picked up or has had an enough. She will need a home where her boundaries are respected and understood. To be honest there was a little speck of doubt that this girl would make such HUGE progress. Now all that’s left is finding her a home where she can steal the spotlight and be treated like the star she is, little Miss Farrah Pawcett!!!!!

Update: ALL animals went to another rescue or were adopted. The only animal we have right now is Gunner, he is still searching.

All these kiddos are still looking for forever homes. They have been with us for quite a while. I’m considering trying to get them to other rescues so maybe they will have better luck. If interested in any send me a message.

Update: all cats were either adopted or sent to another rescue.

All these cats are looking for homes. Most are new strays that were never reclaimed by owners. All will be fully vetted before leaving if they haven’t been already.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. Things have been calm and quiet since we can’t bring in anymore animals. But we do still have animals in our care. Currently we are desperately needing cat litter! We have 6 cats we’re taking care of and we emptied the last bag of litter today into the bin.

We typically use the wood pellets from tractor supply or bomgars because it’s cheaper. But we will use any other sort of non clumping or clumping litter!

Please help if you are able too!

Hoisington Veterinary Hospital still has a ton of goods for anyone in need! Please share and spread the word if anyone needs help with food, treats etc. we still have a bunch here!!

I’ve also put a few big bags of food out back by the garage at the clinic for anyone to come and pick up if needed. This food IS expired. Please come by and pick up whatever you’d like! We’re just trying to help anyone who may be in need.

Was able to get some pics of the dogs eating there donated Thanksgiving dinners! Most were skeptical of the green beans and sweet potatoes, but they all loved it! Especially Toad 🐸. Thank you to everyone who donated a meal towards the kiddos! I’m hoping I can get some pics from fosters with their foster dogs.

It is with deep regret that we announce significant changes regarding 'Lada Paws Rescue.' As of this week, we are ceasing operations as a rescue organization. Initially, we were informed by the state that a license was unnecessary since we operated within a veterinary clinic. However, last month, we were notified about the lack of a license, which contradicts what we had been told. While we wish to continue our mission, the veterinary clinic requires concrete repairs (cracks in the concrete) costing a sum we currently do not possess and likely will not acquire. After much deliberation and sadness, we have made the difficult decision to halt our rescue efforts, which were beyond our control.

Regarding the animals in our care, we are awaiting guidance on their future, with hopes of transferring them to 'Hoisington Vet.' Despite these changes, we will maintain our contract with the city, allowing us to have some adoptable animals available. However, our capacity to assist additional animals is currently suspended. Over the past few years, we have saved hundreds of lives, and this unexpected turn of events is disheartening. We will revert to our previous name, 'Hoisington Veterinary Adoptables’, and will no longer operate as a 501(c)(3) organization.

With the loss of our 501(c)(3) status, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude for the incredible support we have received over the years. Your contributions have been vital in saving numerous animals. Moving forward, we will separate future donations and adoption fees from the clinic, ensuring that all donations directly benefit the animals as they always have, though they will no longer be tax-deductible. We anticipate losing some valued supporters due to this change, which will impact our ability to assist animals in need.

Currently, the future remains uncertain. Should circumstances shift, we may revert to our previous state; however, I do not expect this to occur, given the manner in which the situation has been managed.

We would like to express our gratitude to everyone for their support throughout the years and for any future assistance we may receive.

Another kiddo who is facing challenges when it comes to black dog syndrome. Mr. Do-Wright has had minimal interest, parties that have been interested have ghosted us. Mr. Do-Wright is 8 months old and is a corgi/chihuahua mix. He is the last one of the group we took from an individual who had too many dogs.

Do-Weight is sweet and funny. He loves other dogs and loves to play. He is a friendly kiddo and will make a great companion. He is doing good with crate training and the previous owner state he was potty trained. He is fully vetted as well. Help us find Do-Wright a home and share his adorable face.
