Please please have patience for the vet med staff now more then ever. So many patients to be seen and not enough vets to go around.

Heads up! Due to staffing shortage, Veterinary Emergency Center will need to change our hours for this weekend. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. We strive to keep our hour changes to a minimum, but some nights, we just don't have enough staff to provide overnight care for your pets. We are constantly striving to get better and we are actively looking for more veterinarians to help us out! Thank you for understanding.

As temperatures rise this summer, so does the risk of heatstroke in our pets. Because dogs cannot sweat to cool themselves down, heatstroke can be extremely dangerous. However, it's also preventable if you know the signs and what to do if your pet looks like they’re overheating.

We strive to be as transparent as possible. Veterinary medicine is going through a shortage and it's affecting clinics across the nation. With that being said, we found out we are the only emergency clinic open tonight for the Toledo area. We brought in extra staff to help, but expect a wait. We will do our best to handle the increase in clients in a timely manner. Please be kind to our staff as we all are working together tonight to provide the best service to your pets.

❌ DOGS DIE IN HOT CARS! ❌

This weekend will be hot! So leave your pooch at home! ☀

Temperatures in a car can rise to dangerous levels and can rapidly reach more than double the outside temperature even on mild days. Tinting, parking in the shade or leaving the windows open do not help to reduce the inside temperature significantly.

Do not leave your dog in the car, not even for 5 minutes while you duck into the shop!

If you see a distressed dog in a hot car, report it immediately to the RSPCA Cruelty Hotline on 1300 278 358 (1300 CRUELTY), or call WA Police on 131 444.
