We are a family that has a pet Cavalier and breed her once a year not a business that has breeding stock in a shed. We allow mama about 3 weeks of time after the puppies are born where she is quiet and the only interruption is that they receive neurostimulation from day 3 to day 17. Search this term and learn about the importance of it. Around 3 weeks we begin weaning them by feeding them goats milk. We gradually introduce each ingredient in our homemade mix to them watching for problems. We believe the puppies will have the greatest chance at a healthy life if we pay careful attention to their diets and provide them a peaceful home in which to spend their earliest days. Their weaning diet included goats milk, then raw meat, kelp, enzymes, probiotic, oats, human grade dehydrated food and later we introduced soaked kibble. They will have their health check with a vet on their 8 week birthday and their first set of shots will be 2 weeks after weaning (week 9). Here again we believe we give the immune system a chance to develop and the vaccination of a young pup on mothers milk doesn't gain immunity for the pup.
Later we are let them experience new situations in the familiarity of the pack which gives them confidence. We keep our puppies till they are 10 weeks old . We also begin training them as they hit the appropriate milestones. They have collars on. They keep their bed clean and are learning to keep an area of the "pen" clean also. They are fed individually to avoid hoarding issues. We also begin to put them in a separate beds to help with separation issues. We perform a puppy temperament test at 9 weeks so to better be able to fit puppy with family.
We have an Instagram and page Belvedere Cavapoos if you would like to follow us and see more pictures of our kennel and learn more about what we are doing and why we do it. If you are interested in a puppy we ask that you contact us through this page and we can begin to see if our puppies are a good match for you and if you are for our puppies.
