Wilson is on his 3rd bowl. Soup is great for new rescues. Most cannot resist it and it helps them not get dehydrated!

New rescue in the house!

After 9 hours and 450 miles of driving we have made it home.

INTRODUCING: Wilson!

Wilson was found on Wilson Blvd in Naples FL by animal control. He has advanced adrenal disease, he is very nervous, and he is a little bit of a biter. Street ferrets are known to be a little more anxious than normal ferrets. It will take some time before he trusts that we will not hurt him. His first vet appointment is scheduled for this Tuesday. He will be receiving a lupron injection and bloodwork. We typically give a few lupron shots before we give the implant. It seems to give it a boost and works much faster. I have not been able to give him a very complete physical exam yet. He doesn't trust me. I hope he will be a bit more relaxed this weekend so I can check him more thoroughly.

This is the stray ferret we will be picking up tomorrow. It is currently in Naples Fl which is about 225 miles one way from us. This is what we know. Gender is unknown. We will say he for now. He was given a rabies vaccine. He arrived covered in ticks. He has already bitten someone. He most likely has adrenal based on his hair loss. Beyond that, we know nothing. Once he is in our care, we will set up a vet appointment for next week for a full check up. Blood work will be included and we will start him with a lupron injection. Unfortunately we just spent $450 today for Blood work and x-rays for 2 of our other babies. It was also confirmed that Beatrice does have a chordoma. She will be having her spleen and tail removed at the same time. That bill alone will be just under $2000.

Please understand. We have 17 non adoptable ferrets in our care. All but one have been surrenders. We really need support from all of you. We cannot do this on our own. You would not believe how far a $5 donation would go. If just 10% of our followers donated $5, that would be almost $1500! We are desperately asking for any assistance we can get.

We are at the vet today with Lemon snd Beatrice. Lemon has slowed down quite a bit lately so we are getting some blood work done today. Beatrice may have the start of a chordoma on her tail and her spleen is starting to worry us. She will be getting x-rays today. She may need the spleen removed and tail amputated. Today's bill is going to be $600. We are also picking up a hairless baby in Naples tomorrow from animal control. The poor thing was covered in ticks. So he will definitely need blood work and an implant ASAP. If anyone wants to donate, please do. We could really use the help.

Today is another sad day at the rescue. Today we lost our precious Yoshi. Yoshi came to us at 4-5 years old. His first week was hard on him, he was depressed and did not want to eat. With time, he opened up to us and we were able to add him to our large group of babies. Over time, Yoshi developed insulinoma and later adrenal disease. We noticed this week that he had started to decline more rapidly. This morning we could see that he was finally ready to go. We did our duty as a rescue and helped him cross the bridge. It never gets easier...

LOOK OUT! Triple Trouble in the house. Thor has completely opened up to us and he likes to play a little too rough for the babies. So he has been moved to our other younger boys. Hagrid, Kitty, and Thor are non stop! These boys are best of friends!

Nearly 2 months ago we rushed 125 miles one way to pick up a ferret. His name is Thor. Thor was being kept outside in a cage in not the best conditions. He was on a very poor diet, overweight and was obviously stressed to his absolute limits. His coat was oily, matted, and very rough. In less than 60 days, we were able to completely turn his life around. He now plays with his 15 other friends and interacts with us like he has always been here. He received one bath the day we brought him to the rescue. All the changes you see are from propper diet, clean bedding, and a stress free environment. We were able to do this thanks to the support of our followers and Dookin in the USA along with their followers. Huge thanks to Lisa Vaughn and Mary Schaffer for always being able to help these babies no matter where they are. The photos from pickup and today are all you need to see what your kindness can do. Thank you! (Yes, this is the same ferret!)
