Good morning. Although we were told that there would be a lengthy process to determine if FEMA assistance would be provided for the Florida counties, overnight FEMA declared Citrus County for Individual and Public Assistance. If you affected by Hurricane Helene, please register immediately.
To apply for Federal Assistance:
1. Call FEMA's hotline at 800-621-3362
2. Visit FEMA Application
3. Download the FEMA app (Available from the App Store or Google Play)

FEMA Individual Assistance approved for Citrus County residents affected by Hurricane Helene

The portal is now open for individuals impacted by Helene to request help. https://www.disasterassistance.gov/

Today I posted about our own local artist, Cindy Ersch, creating the artwork for the t-shirts for Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival this year.

Have you noticed we have local food vendors—Pecks, Sweet Sassa, Riveria, and Crump’s Landing? And the festival committee hopes to add more local food vendors in years to come.

The Kid Zone at the festival is run by the Old Homosassa Learning Center director, Jessica MacRae and the teens working in the kid zone are local students receiving community hours.

Many of our artists and crafters are also from Citrus County.

Plus ALL of our volunteers are members of the Old Homosassa Civic Club or relatives of members. This is one of the few festivals that is entirely run by volunteers—no professional management. So from beer pouring to parking vendor vehicles—anyone in an orange event staff t shirt—volunteers.

Plus the proceeds from the festival go back to the community. Free after school tutoring, free summer camp, scholarships for area students, free Wi-Fi, a Sheriff’s workstation, donations for community groups….and there is more!

The Homosassa Civic Club is very serious about its commitment to our local community.

This year’s artwork for the 48th Annual Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival is provided by Old Homosassa local artist Cindy Ersch. You can get your tshirt at the event this weekend, November 11th & 12th!

$20 for short sleeve men’s and women’s t shirts and $30 for men’s long sleeve dri fit.
