Hey guys, Star here…

If you know me, you know I truly hate asking for any sort of help. It’s just not in my nature. But in order to make our rescue mission a success, I simply cannot do it on my own. I put every penny of my own into our sanctuary to make sure the cats (and dogs) in our care have the best life.

I really want to pull at least 2, if not 3, medical/behavioral cats from GCAC this week.

I am trapping a cat Monday (black cat pictured) whose elderly person is not coming back unfortunately and will likely need to come to sanctuary after his neuter.

We have traps set to get this orange guy in the picture, who showed up at our fixed colony last night with massive wounds to his face, back, and necks. He is going to need medical care.

We would really, truly appreciate a rally from our community today on $2 Tuesday in order to be able to make this all happen.

If you do not feel comfortable sending funds, we have an Amazon wishlist set up for supplies. Our current biggest need is dry food and litter. Any enrichment toys or beds for our new arrivals would also be wonderful.

We also could take donations of items that you are no longer using. We are always in need of towels, sheets, and blankets. They don’t need to be new, just washed.

We are looking for things to add to the yard for our feral colony.. think old plastic playhouses, old toddler beds, plastic totes that we can make into houses. Old play equipment that a cat may like ton use to climb/perch on. Your junk may be our treasure!

Simone is an approx 1 yr old cat who was surrendered to the shelter in September. She was very very shy and timid when first entering foster home, but she has been opening up so much these last few weeks and we are learning more about her personality! She is a very calm girl who will find the most snuggly hiding places! When approached, she loves pets, neck scratches, and will let you pet her for longgggg periods of time. We are still working on getting her comfortable asking for pets!

She would do great in a household that is on the quieter side and understands that she needs time to adjust. She’s lived with other animals in the past so does not need to be in an only pet house but slow introductions are a must for her!

💙Spayed, chipped, and fully vaccinated!

🐕Dog Friendly: she has met 1 dog while in foster and showed no negative reactions. The dog though did not pursue her or act overly interested in her.

😺Cat Friendly: Has lived with cats in the past! & she has met 3 new cats in foster. There’s been some normal hissing/growling from both sides but has been adjusting.

🏡 Litterbox Trained 100% (although she likes the corners so a tall litterbox works best for her!)

⚡Energy Level: Low but does get the occasional zoomies

💙Social: She needs slow introductions, she likes being tucked away in hide-y holes

Happy Friday Everyone! Today’s $5 Friday will be put towards getting our outdoor structures and areas ready for the upcoming cold weather. We need to get straw to replace the worn out straw in all of our acclimation coops and outdoor cat houses that we have on our sanctuary property, as well as the outdoor cat houses we have at multiple fixed colonies around Anderson County. We also need to replace broken heat bulbs from last year as well as get a few new ones with the aluminum holders for our new areas that we have implemented since the last cold weather. We have many new additions here at the sanctuary since then and needed more safe areas for them to shelter in!

Please stop dumping your animals. Please. Rescue workers are begging you to stop.

This year has become unhinged with abandonment. 🛑 STOP abandoning your pets.

EVERY decision you make in your life, has a good consequence or a bad consequence… it doesn’t matter if it’s a decision about money, a decision about what you eat, a decision who you spend your life with, a decision to get a pet, a decision to abandon a pet, etc.,… eventually that decision comes with a good or bad consequence. Think about that, and choose wisely. Poor decisions always have a way of catching up with you, in some way, shape, or form.

Please stop the abandonment 🙏 They are living beings who don’t deserve this - look for better options or different ways that will hold good future consequences for you, and your pet.

God is GREAT! Just got news about something we have been praying on privately. Mama cat has been returned home where she belongs! We chose not to speak publically to protect her while she was cat-napped, but the truth will soon prevail!

Meet Simone! She also was set to cross the bridge this evening if it were not for a wonderful foster Emily Baig stepping up to help us spare her life!

She came in to the shelter just 19 days ago with her tiny babies (zoom the pic, under her belly🥹) as one of 36 owner-surrendered cats. Her death date was simply due to space. She is healthy and a sweet young girl, barely over 1 year old herself!

Simone is decompressing in foster with Emily and is available for adoption! Please message us for more information! We are willing to to transport out of SC with verified vet references and virtual home visit, so if you can please SHARE her post! Help her fill the missing piece in someone’s ♥️ heart!

Meet Celeste! She was dropped off at the shelter as a stray on 9/5. Today, just 18 days after arrival, they scheduled her ex*****on since no one wanted to adopt her.

She is safe with us now! She is a lovable girl who is a purrrrrrr machine while you give her head pets. 🐈🥹

As of right now, we are going to say she would do best in a home with no other cats, due to some behaviors reported by shelter staff. The shelter can be a scary place, so we will be evaluating her again here at the sanctuary once she has has some time to decompress, and this restriction may change in the near future.
