“Mighty Glory” aka “Zion” is a 4yr old, 16.2hh, ottb, gelding. I will start by saying, I absolutely adore this horse, and he is going to make someone such an amazing partner. Zion is kind, goofy, loving and safe. He is such a nice boy already, and will only continue to get nicer. I will be jealous of the person who gets to call him theirs forever! I am proud to offer such a genuine creature who has an old soul and strives to please his rider. On top of his good looks, and laid back personality, this dude has a fantastic brain. Zion is a huge puppy dog, and will fall asleep while receiving attention and love.
Zion arrived to me on July 11th, it’s been smooth sailing since day one. He lives out in the pasture with friends, he is very docile with other horses. He comes up to you in the pasture. He stalls quiet as a mouse and never asks for anything, and has zero vices. He cross ties, ground ties, straight ties. Tie him to the trailer to get ready. He has amazing ground manners and is safe for beginners and kids to work around and could care less about my crazy dogs running right under his heels. Zion has been packing on the pounds since he arrived to me, he is going to be a really easy keeper. You can even notice his weight progress throughout the photos, he is filling out quickly, nicely and I am not doing anything special other then a simple diet and exercise! He doesn’t require any maintenance, has great feet and clean legs. Right now he is pastured on grass and gets a scoop of senior feed, and half a scoop of Purina amplify once a day in the am. He is not pushy or rude on the ground at all. Zion stands to be groomed, bathed, tacked, etc. This boy absolutely adores attention and will hang his head, lips, and close his eyes to a gentle grooming.
Zion absolutely loves trail riding! He is brave, and willing to give new things a try. He is very relaxed on the trails, and doesn’t care if he leads, follows, goes out alone or in a group. He rides on the buckle the whole time, and loves to look around at the scenery. I brought Zion through his first large water crossing and though he was a little hesitant at first, he followed the group and by the end of the ride he was loving the all of the water activities. I also brought him over his first metal grate bridge, and he did super well with that. He is not spooky, and doesn’t mind traffic, machinery, dogs, bikes, etc. When we first unloaded at the park, he looked around like where am I, then stood quietly tied to the trailer, stood for me to mount and then stood and waited for the group to mount. He is patient and stands well on the trails, I could definitely see fox hunting in his future!! I enjoy trail riding him, he walks out nicely but is not even close to being forward, he loves a good adventure and takes care of his rider.
Zion is a total push style ride. He seriously is not going anywhere fast, so if you are looking for an upper level eventer, I would scroll on lol. He takes his time and he is SUPER laid back. I have thrown all sorts of stuff his way and he takes everything in stride. This boy is extremely smart, so don’t let his puppy dog, derpy look on his face fool you. When Zion arrived to me I gave him some time to settle in and then hopped right on him and started working slowly on riding off of my seat, learning about leg, and just over all learning how to be a solid citizen in the ring. My first ride on him, he was very relaxed and started to pick up on my cues immediately. I spent the next few rides after day one, just slowly teaching him, and every ride that he has under his belt right now has been a good experience for him. I have not pushed him, I have been letting him learn at his pace and slowly move up to more things. With that being said, here are some things that Zion is learning! Neck reining, moving laterally off of leg, turning off of leg, pivot, the word whoa (his favorite word), backing up, adjusting his trot speed to my seat, picking up the correct leads, learning about jumping, and he naturally likes to lower his head and stretch out, which I love.
In the ring, Zion will walk, jog, trot, canter, and has been lightly started over small cross rails. His gaits are very smooth and comfortable. Again, he is more whoa than go; I don’t use spurs but every now and then I do need to use a crop if he’s being very lazy lol. He doesn’t ignore your cues to move forward but he will ask “are you sure” once or twice before popping into his trot or canter. But I would rather him be push style then constantly pulling on the reins to go. Zion is a beautiful mover, especially when he extends his trot. I think that he could definitely dabble in dressage, classical or western, with his rhythmic gaits. Over all, yes Zion is still considered “green” in the ring, everything that you see in the video is what I have done with him since he arrived on July 11th, which in my opinion is pretty dang good! I can’t take the credit though, as Zion truly just has a great brain and he is very teachable. You will see some clips of me riding him with out a bridle and then with out tack completely. Showing his calm demeanor, and that he has learned to ride with my seat and legs. He would be a good horse for an amateur to bring along, a kid, etc, as he is safe. Zion has popped over a few cross rails, and was honest to them. I have not jumped a ton due to his age, but he could make a cute hunter in the future. There are many possibilities for his future!
I can lead Zion from my atv, dogs running all over, kids running around, he doesn’t care. He is good for the vet and farrier. My first time loading Zion into my small trailer he was a little hesitant at first, but once he realized that he did in fact fit, and he was not in a racing box, he was fine. I worked with him loading, standing and unloading as well, which you can see in his video. Over all, my time spent with Zion so far, has been amazing. I can’t ask for better demeanor especially in a horse this age. Zion is currently set up to head into any direction. I can ramble on about him all day long, but take a look at his video and get a feel for how amazing he is. I care a lot about this boy, and want to ensure that his next home is the perfect fit, and that he will be loved. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for further information.
