EDIX's Astha Icelandic saddle on the lovely Njóla.

Cutback panels and flap to free up the shoulder and upswept panels to stay clear of the loin. Balanced open seat with low cantle.

What do you do when you buy a Percheron from the Amish, who has only ever been driven, and you need a saddle to fit that massive body and be safe and stable, while realizing that body will change a lot as he learns to carry himself under a rider?

You find a quality treeless saddle with proven ability to shape to the horse and let them move and change, while keeping a rider secure on a horse that has to learn to listen to his rider.

And then you need to add a splash of color, because WOW!!!! Mr Fabuloso wears it well! Then find more purple to keep things matchy-matchy

PS, this is the first time I have had to use that extra huge pommel - I always wondered what kind of horse would need that pommel. Now I know.

Note: Saddle appears low at the pommel. It is cinched down tightly (did I mention this horse is very wide and we need things to not slide around at all?), letting the back pop up slightly. Once the rider is on board, this saddle sits perfectly level and balanced.

This verstile comfy EDIX Equis is headed to its new home at the foot of the Cascade Mountains today. The Equis is a great trail-saddle, offering its rider support and stability and its horse unrestricted movement. The classic Western tooling matches the Rose breastcollar nicely! Paired with the Felt/cotton Roundkirt pad and laced stirrups.

Veneto in Little Black Dress black Fiore leather with purple accents, with matching medicinal sheepskin pad

and

Torino built on a Spanish base in black and blue oiled nubuck leather with matching Vella (synthetic medicinal sheepskin) pad.

Both customers upgraded to matching base and panels, and it certainly does give a more refined look 🤩

Taking you on a short walk-through of the new EDIX Astha Icelandic saddle.

I am thinking this saddle also has great potential for Arabians as well, with the panel design likely giving great support, stability, and freedom on those short flat Arabian backs.

This particular saddle is a black 17.5" EDIX Astha Soft-Tree, which I have fitted for Njola, a mutton-withered barrel-shaped, extremely short-backed Icelandic mare. She fits nicely in the widest (yellow) gullet-plate. I have lightened the flocking along the entire length of the panels to give her petite rider excellent stability by bringing the saddle low onto Njola's back to really hug her back with lots of panel contact. This mare has a history of battling unstable saddles that roll, and when we tested this panel adjustment with the yellow gullet-plate during the demo period, it worked perfectly.

The Astha is $2199 plus any applicable tariffs du jour and shipping from my shop in WA State to you (typically $20-$60).

I will be in Norway this week.

Several of you have your orders in a box that I was hoping would get here by yesterday, but it looks like it will get here while I am gone. I will get all those orders sent your way on the 16th, and I will upgrade them all to faster shipping, since it's my impromptu trip causing this delay for you.

I will have my tablet with me and will still respond to messages from everyone, just be aware there will be a time-zone lag.

Repeat after me: Horses are priceless, horses are priceless, horses are priceless... Ohmmmmmm.

Even with the new tariff-rates added onto my prices, both Ghost and EDIX saddles provide unsurpassed performance for the price-point.

Now that the tariff rates for imports into the US are being more clearly defined, and set to take effect Aug 7th, all items ordered from here on out will have the full tariff amount added to the purchase price. I am a 1-person operation. I do not operate with sufficient margins to absorb any of the tariff costs. They will be added to your final purchase price.

This is a bit fluid...

For now, the prices on my website are WITHOUT tariffs added. That is not your final purchase price. When you contact me to place an order, I will give you an estimate based on current tariff rates. If I am charged a lower rate as your items clear US Customs, I will refund you anything you over-paid.

Why don't I just update my website prices and why don't I give an exact quote?

The rates change almost daily. In addition, previous experience with US Customs has shown me that they charge fairly random rates. If a pad from The Netherlands includes cotton from Asia and Merino fur from Australia, do I get charged EU, Asian, or Aussie tariff rate? Your guess is as good as mine. I have been hit with all of the above in random order over the years.

I have 1500 items on my website. Re-calculating and updating prices takes a full day. And it changes daily.

So until everything stabilizes and is nailed down and very well-defined, I will send you an invoice for the item price (on my website) plus estimated tariff. the estimated tariff on your entire order will be a separate line item, so we can easily track it and refund as necessary. If it comes through US Customs costing less, I refund you your over-payment. If it comes through costing more, I do not charge you more.

Note than anything currently in my inventory will keep pre-tariff price-tags, since I imported it without additional tariff-costs.

I shipped out 4 EDIX Union riding pads to US customers this week, and they are in stock in Netherlands in sizes S, M, L

Suede: Natural, black, brown, blue, green, pink
Soft leather: brown and black

The North American dealers/fitters have been comparing notes, and we are seeing similarly impressive results as Miranda is reporting here.

While the Union is not a replacement for an actual saddle (if you are doing persistent high-intensity upper-level work), a "saddle" having more structure and a more custom fit, it is an incredibly fun, non-complicated, versatile treeless saddle or riding pad that you can play with to find your optimal setup and just comfortably ride off into the sunset and have fun and which will provide all the comfort and support you and your horse need.
