It's been a busy week! This is a long post to keep you all informed!

First thing at the beginning of the week, SABLE was neutered, received his Proheart 6 and rabies vaccine. He was HW- πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Then, when City of Hot Springs Animal Services became so full they were completely out of space I had made the decision to pull ARIES. Aries is a large Staffy who had been at the facility almost two months. He was fully vetted by a shelter in south Texas and adopted. His adopter faced rough times and rehomed him to someone he failed to get any information from and that person abandoned him and another dog in a mobile home with no food or water for at least a week, maybe longer in Hot Springs. By the time Aries was found, you could see every rib in his body. Due to him being microchipped, his original owner was contacted and said he was now in a place to come get him. Three times, he "no showed" Aries, knowing he would possibly be euthanized due to overcrowding. I noticed Aries went from friendly and playful to withdrawn and stayed outside staring out into the wood line. He was obviously depressed. I decided he wouldn't have survived through all the things in life, just to not make it out of the shelter. I pulled him. I call the following a God wink. Less than thirty minutes after pulling him, I took him on a walk outside the shelter. I could already see some of the joy returning in his soul, then one car pulled into the parking lot. The man walked to me and asked if the dog I was walking was up for adoption. Absolutely! He said he could go no further. He and his wife had just purchased a new home with a fenced in yard. Their previous pooches had passed of old age and they decided they needed a dog to make their new home complete. Aries fit what they were looking for to a T. We couldn't be more thankful for this adopter giving this boy who is just under two years old, a new life of happiness. On a side note, one of our fans was in the veterinarian office Friday when Aries went for his updated rabies vaccine and Proheart 6. She saw him and his new Momma and they reported he was doing excellent!

Next report is on SADIE. Sadie was scheduled for her surgeries Monday. I picked up Sadie's owner and found he is in-between residences and his wife has been admitted to a nursing home for rehabilitation. He was keeping Sadie at a friend's house. When we pulled up to the house, there was Sadie soaked. She had stood outside in the storm and pouring rain with no shelter all night long. I was devastated to say the least. We made it to Temperance Hill Animal Hospital where we spoke to Dr. Taylor about everything. He told me he would keep her one night to follow her progress, but didn't know if he would remove the mass just yet or would just spay her. I told Sadies owner she would be safe at my house until she heals so on Tuesday I spoke with the staff and they said Sadie's spay was successful, but she had all kinds of lumps and bumps in her they removed when spaying her. They decided against removing the protruding va**nal tumor at this time, but did remove the mass on her face. She has been recovering well at our home and is truly the most low maintenance dog I've ever had stay. She is great. Hopefully we can put some weight on her and either the tumor begins to shrink or it will be surgically removed when she is healthy enough.

CHEDDAR πŸ§€... Whew, this boy is a handful. He likes to lay on top of Lala and give her heck. He enjoys bones, antlers, sticks, acorns, 🐜s, grass, socks, pillows and pretty much anything he can chew on! He has had no other potty accidents and is now sleeping in bed with us πŸ₯΄. SPOILED! He goes to his first official veterinarian visit in the coming week for his third round of shots and a wellness check up. We are happy to see his progress and watch him shadow Lala learning all her good and bad habits along the way.

Lastly, our friend Karen Kelley / Kelley helping dogs be dogs / came down on Saturday and interviewed us for her podcast. We will share when it airs.

A few more updates here:

Junior "Q", now known as Fritz DNA results are posted and they are WILD. We guessed the Malinois/GSD, but as they go down the family tree it's crazy to see! It goes to show you, you never know. It doesn't matter what mix of dogs your pup has in them, as long as they're pure rescued love!

We pulled Sable from City of Hot Springs Animal Services Friday and he went to his new home! We were excited for this 85 pound Goliath who was one of the most gentle and loved giants. He is part goofy and part fun! We can't wait to get updates on his progress as he learns how to live in his new home. We contacted THAH and he will be fully vetted soon as part of the adoption.

Tomorrow, is the big day for Sadie the Border Collie. She is going in for her surgery to remove her giant, protruding va**na tumor and spay. Please be praying for a successful surgery. At eight years old, it will be a lot, but we know she must have it ASAP. If you want to donate to help us with our mounting bills you can do so on our website: www.leeannsrescue.org or you can call THAH tomorrow and put money directly on our bill. Your donation is tax deductible..I can't thank Dr. Taylor enough for agreeing to help her.

Cheddar is growing and learning so much. He has only had three p*e accidents in the week he has been with us and is virtually potty trained and doing well on a leash. He will be going in to get one more round of puppy shots in a week or so and a puppy wellness check up. At first, Lala was not accepting of him and quite frankly pretty horrible to him. It took four days of leash walking, immediately correcting her missteps and rewarding her positive behavior and last night they slept in bed together for the first time. The last three days we have allowed them off leash together and it's been a constant playfest. With as well as Cheddar is doing, he will soon be ready for adoption. Please send us a DM if you're interested in adopting Cheddar and we can point you to our application on our website.

It's been a busy few weeks. We are loving having Cheddar around. We were dreading all the puppy accidents and issues, but knock on wood, NOT one single potty accident. He sleeps through the night and does well in his kennel most of the time. Sometimes he gets loud and whiney, but so far that is the only small hiccup. He has almost mastered "sit" and is now working on "down". Lala has finally began warming up to him after first wanting him far, far away from her. We figure another week or so and we will let them play off leash. Oh yeah, he's been doing great on the leash after first not knowing what it was around his neck.

Onto Sadie the dog with the huge va**nal tumor. Dr. Taylor at Temperance Hill Animal Hospital has worked overtime on this and I truly appreciate his diligence in reaching out to other medical professionals regarding it. Sadie underwent more tests yesterday and it determined even though she has never had a heat cycle, she was never spayed as the previous owner told the current owner six years ago when he adopted her. They also found no cancer in the tumor where they tested it. πŸ™πŸΌ So, Monday she is going in to THAH again and they're opening her up to remove the mass and spay her. We are praying for a successful surgery as this is something they've never seen before.

Lastly we have scheduled more spays and heartworm treatment for a family down on their luck for a beautiful Golden Retriever they rescued and can't seem to get caught up with the bills to pay for the needed treatment and spay.

Thank you all for your love and support.

Double Lastly πŸ˜‚, Junior "Q" now known as Fritz had his DNA submitted by Momma Shelley and you wouldn't believe the make up. See if you can guess five of the breeds in the comments and we will post the results on our next post.

We normally don't do puppies as there are so many older ones who need help, but over a week ago one of our board members reached out to us about eight pups whose Momma sadly was run-over and they were left in the same predicament by the owners being left by the roadway with no regard. Neighbors stepped in and our board member rescued some of them.

We have so many we are helping whether it be at the veterinarian or recently adopted out, but we couldn't say no to all of them. So world, meet Cheddar. He is believed to be eleven to twelve weeks old and we will be doing a DNA test on him to determine the breed make up.

We know one thing already, he is smart. He has let us know each time he needs to go potty and sits quite easily on command.

Cheddar πŸ§€ we think is going to be huge, so big dog lovers please follow Cheddar and his progress as we get him ready for his forever home.

Cheddar makes us better!!!!! πŸ§€ ❀️

We are struggling financially, but sometimes you just can't say no. The question wasn't asked, but when you see the need, sometimes you must act.

Sadie was picked up by City of Hot Springs Animal Services , where her owner came and reclaimed her this afternoon. She has a large tumor growing from her face, but even more concerning she has an extreme va**nal prolapse. We spoke to eight year old Sadie's dad and knew he has no extra money right now to get her treated, so we did what's right.

She has an appointment tomorrow at Temperance Hill Animal Hospital. I truly appreciate them getting her in so quickly as swamped as they are. If you want to help, please tomorrow call THAH At (501) 525-5723 -(LeeAnns Rescue Account) and put money on our account or you can donate on one of the previous FB fundraisers.

We can't help them all, but we try to help all we can. πŸ’” Our hearts break every damn day with all the pain and suffering we see.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support. Pray Sadie will be able to be patched up.

Also, say a prayer for one of our main supporters, Miss. Penny who has always been a mainstay and friend of ours since Leo went missing back in 2017. This morning, she was carrying one of her special needs pups and fell severely injuring herself and her pup too. She will be facing surgery tomorrow and her pup will be going to THAH tomorrow to be seen as well. The more who pray, the better!

We have had a busy week! Last weekend, Vinnie was adopted by the Coker family. He went to Temperance Hill Animal Hospital this Tuesday and received a clear bill of health and was given his Proheart shot! (Thank goodness.) He's settled in and loves his new pack and his family.

Then, City of Hot Springs Animal Services featured R***r, who was sadly repeatedly looked over. R***r, a senior Staffy was quiet, sweet and tender with others. We were so excited when we were notified a family potentially wanted him to join their senior Staffy mix. They did a meet and greet and things went great. We pulled him from the shelter and he was adopted. The family reports he is doing well and follows and loves their son so much. Well, today he went for his neuter and we received the dreaded call.... He is heartworm heavy. πŸ₯Ί They were unable to neuter him, so we told them to start treatment. Due to how heavy, we know this is going to cost big.

In addition, today our homeless friend showed up for the appointment for his girl! We want to thank the homeless coalition people (especially Sally and Trish) for helping us get some of these people and dogs to their appointments. She was spayed and received her rabies vaccination. Now we have one less who won't have unwanted litters!

This week we are bleeding out funds, so please consider donating to help us. EVERYTHING you give goes to the care of the dogs we save.

We hope we can save many more! You all have been amazing with your support of our tiny rescue. We have been blessed by your following of this page which was originally set up to follow Leo's progress after his return from being missing for three weeks and two days, but has turned into an amazing thing. We have saved and rehomed so many pups and it's all because one dog and the community who fell in love with him while coming together to search for him.

We have some adoption announcement(S)!

We are so happy to have two adoption announcements. First, beautiful girl Sasha was pulled by us from City of Hot Springs Animal Services and adopted the beginning of last week. She will be fully vetted next Tuesday and gets to live with the amazing Ms. Carmen and her group of fur kids. I want to send a shout out to Ms. Carmen, who had been visiting COHSAS and couldn't stand by while Sasha was left there any longer. Sasha was originally picked up roaming between IHOP and Ulta Beauty. She was abandoned after she had finished raising her fur kids, because she was disposable to someone. She was running on the hot pavement and begging people to help her. She will not have to deal with abandonment or the pain of hot asphalt ever again. She is done making babies and will now be appreciated and loved how she deserves.

Secondly, we pulled Beanie, now known as Vinnie from COHSAS nine days ago. He was the longest resident at the shelter and there was no room remaining. He had made such progress since his arrival and I couldn't handle him not making it out safely. Vinnie, as you recall was used to living on a chain in a dirt patch with his little buddy prior to coming to HSAS. He came in after his owner over stayed her welcome in her rented home for nearly six months. She never showed up for Vinnie, even after saying by phone, day after day she was "on her way".

While Vinnie was with us, he learned how to play with Lala, even though she was a bit rough. He climbed his first steps. He laid in his first dog bed and he learned people can give him love. He learned about toys and bones and how to potty in grass. It's the simple things in life he was so appreciative of. We are so thankful the Coker family contacted us about Vinnie. He spoke to something in their hearts so they had to meet him. They were former adopters at COHSAS where they adopted the 'unadoptable' Oreo, who had been returned three times. Oreo was one of the most loved dogs we had at HSAS in 2023, so we were ecstatic when a responsible, loving family adopted him. They brought Oreo and his older fur sister to do a meet and greet today and things went wonderfully. After the meet and greet, we told them they could walk him and take some time to visit. They said they didn't need anytime, Vinnie was theirs! He will go Tuesday for his heartworm test, (hoping negative) and his Proheart shot.

Then, this girl in the last photo, her name is Little Bit. Her owner has lived on the streets for much of the last few years. He has finally been accepted into a Christian based faith rehabilitation where he can learn skills and get sober. Since he is trying to improve himself, we offered to take care of his girl, so, in a few weeks she will be spayed and receive needed vaccinations.

Also, tomorrow, we are fully vetting a Lab who has had two litters and her parents couldn't afford for her to be fixed. No more puppies for her.

We are spending LOTS of money. If you feel in your heart you can donate, please do so. You can donate directly to Temperance Hill Animal Hospital by phone tomorrow for LeeAnns Rescue Account or digitally here.

We thank each of you for your help, support, shared and love. Onto saving the next one!

We are back to a very FULL house. World meet Beanie, now known as Vinnie. Vinnie has been in kennel #14 at City of Hot Springs Animal Services for almost four months, making him one of the longest residents there.

He came in after his owner left him tied to a tree in a dirt area with virtually nothing except his little furry friend who was half his size. He was extremely thin and frail and very protective of his little "brother". We finally were able to reach the owner who left him at the residence she no longer lived at after days of trying. She explained she had just found a new place and said she was "on her way" right then. Somehow, even though she was "on her way", it apparently wasnt to pick up Vinnie and his brother. She never answered another call for us and disappeared.

They had ticks and fleas all over them and hid curled around one another in the corner. That is until about a month after they arrived, when his little brother was adopted, leaving him, all alone. Vinnie was almost scary to approach. He was visibly terrified. Thankfully OFC. McCauley and Ms. Kathy take some of our dogs on walk/jogs and this is when we all saw the real Vinnie. Vinnie came out and so did his personality.

He clings to his people, craves scratches, loves walking and being outside and gets along with everyone and every animal.

Yet somehow, four months in, he still sat left behind in kennel 14. It's no secret, HSAS has had a horrible last week, bringing in double what has left. So Friday, when several, were in danger I grabbed him and put him in the back of my truck. He was going to be saved one way or another. I looked in my back seat while driving home and it looked as if he was crying with his head against my passenger seat, head down, not realizing he was finally safe.

Once he got to the house, we had to make sure Lala, our difficult girl would accept him, like she accepted Middy our last foster fur boy. At first, she wasn't having it. It took a full day of walking them on leashes, wearing them out and she finally let her guard down. She fell for him and now whines to be around him when she's separated. Once we realized she was great with him, we made it official. So, we now have Vinnie up for adoption. He will be completely available after we get him heartworm tested and get him a Proheart shot. He is already vaccinated and neutered.

Vinnie loves to play fetch and is already nearly perfect in every aspect. Put in your applications so once he's medically cleared, you can adopt him. We will be making an appointment this week with the veterinarian to give him a once over.

We believe Vinnie is around 3 years old. He's an Australian Cattle Dog/ Terrier mix who deserves to live a wonderful life with a family who treasures him, instead of abandons him. It's been a joy this week watching him experience obvious firsts we often take for granted: walking and sniffing grass, walking up and down stairs and being able to run free in a yard and play.

We are located in the Hot Springs, Arkansas area.

If you're interested in Vinnie, please fill out an appliance at: www.leeannsrescue.org

Just because I have been slacking on posts, doesn't mean we're not doing work. I manage four different (pages) sites, work a full-time job, my phone rings non stop and often times by the time work is over, all of the sites are updated (minus this one) and all of the other things we must do around the house are done, it's well past time to go to bed. I'm sorry! I'm exhausted and have neglected letting you know all of the amazing things we have been doing.

We have been helping several dog families. We have been paying for the spay/neuters, shots and so forth of several people. I often see people at my work who want to keep their female dog, but she keeps having puppies and they can't afford them. I see people whose male dog keeps jumping the fence to get to the lady dog next door because he's not neutered. I see homeless people with injured dogs who we treat medically or dogs who need to be spayed/neutered so we take care of it for them so they quit reproducing. So, we help the ones we can.

We have a spay scheduled for this coming week for a family who couldn't afford to get their girl spayed and she has now had her second litter of puppies.

Also, tomorrow we have an announcement on another pup who has stolen our hearts.

Here is a photo of nine and a half year old Leo, the reason for all of this. We are thankful for all the things that happened back in 2017, when he disappeared for 23 days. It all happened for a reason and we are forever grateful for our community who helped reunite us with him.

Thank you to each of you for helping us with shares and financial donations. This has helped us continue to help our community. We love being able to make a difference, one dog at a time.

Alums, send us your photos if you adopted from us via messenger. We would love to see some of our favs over these last six years.

I know we haven't been posting much lately. It's because we've been busy. We have been helping our community and have scheduled or have had several spays and neuters done for those who need it but can't afford it. We are trying to help with this vicious over population problem

If you can help us out we have a negative balance with more surgeries scheduled in the coming weeks. The best way to help is to pay directly to our vet clinic, Temperance Hill Animal Hospital at (501) 525-5723.

Thank you for helping us fulfill our mission. We will post updates on several of our pups in the coming days. -- LeeAnn

Here's a little update photo on Koa in the meantime! He's living his best life.

So we told you we adopted FOUR in the last week and a half. World, meet Ellie Mae, the black and brindle mini Staffy.

Someone we knew found her running circles in the middle of a major intersection. The road she was on people drive over 55 mph and she was running around in repeated circles looking around in a big curve. They said it appeared she had just been dumped. We were hoping that wasn't what happened, so we advertised her and received not one response. We decided we had to help and took her in to our already FULL home. It took us less than a day at our house for us to quickly learn this young girl had excellent manners.

-she was potty trained
-she was good with other dogs
-she was excellent in a kennel
-she was great on a leash

It was crazy how obedient she was and sad someone had apparently tossed her out of a vehicle in a busy roadway after dark knowing what could happen. We think she was looking for the ones who abandoned her. Thankfully, a kind heart instead found her.

At this point, for four days we had NINE dogs at our house as we had: Junior, Maylin (whose foster Mommy was out of town, y'all she's still available) Middy, our five then her.

After no one claimed her we were so worried about finding her a good home. It's hard to find black Staffys homes. Just about this time, one of the ACO's at work decided she wanted a new friend for her good girl, so she brought her to work to see how she would like a new friend. She did meet and greet after meet and greet with other dogs at the shelter, all were unsuccessful. Her fur child wasn't fond.

AnπŸ’‘idea popped in my head. What about that good girl at my house? Husband brought Ellie Mae by and introduced her, the rest was history. The introduction went unlike all of the others. They were quick friends. After some play and rest, Ellie Mae was adopted! We were so thankful.

Also, see the photos of Middy. He has now made it to New York and is enjoying chasing squirrels, using a doggy door and nice temperatures while laying out on the back deck.

We are so grateful. It helps heal our hearts seeing him happy.

We have had one heck of a few weeks. We went from sad and overwhelmed, not knowing what our next move was, to adopting FOUR of our dogs in a mere week and a half.❀️ First we had Junior adopted, then we had Middy and today.....after a meet and greet, some time to think about it and time to get a few things, Koa, went HOME!

Charlene, his amazing foster mom did so much for him and it was hard to watch him leave, but we couldn't have been happier. The boy who came in at 42 pounds, days if not hours from death, is now 66 pounds, healthy and so full of joy.

Brittany contacted me a few days ago after seeing Koa's story. If you remember almost a year ago, her Mom and step dad adopted Bandit from us. She began following our page then not knowing it would lead her to adopting. When she saw Koa's story she couldn't turn away. She watched and no one adopted him, she just couldn't stand by idly. She had to be part of his forever.

He will now have a large fenced in yard, a family who loves him endlessly, three brother/sister human siblings and one puppy BFF! If anyone deserves to be spoiled until the end of time, it's Koa. We can't wait to get updates from his Mom's. Brittany and Hillary, thank you.

A special thank you to Charlene and everyone else who has helped us by fostering. This helps shape and mold these dogs for their new families. We couldn't save them without fosters as we are foster based. If you live in the Central Arkansas area and are interested in helping us by fostering, please DM us.

Also, I know, crazy, but two weeks ago we took on another dog (hence the #4). We never even were able to advertise her, but were at the right place and the right time and adopted her out in SIX days! We will post her story tomorrow. We also have received Middy updates we will pass along with the post.

Thank you to our followers and donors. We appreciate each and everyone of you for following us, a small rescue created because the love of our boy Leo and how the community came together when he went missing to help us find him.

Bittersweet, heart wrenching, but also an overwhelming sense of happiness. These are all feelings I have right now. It's so weird to describe. I fell in love with Middy, the moment I saw him at COHSAS last June 2023. He was a sad boy who always ran to the outside of his kennel when people came in to visit. He was in pen #1, the one everyone passed by, yet not one person gave him a second look, even when he p*ered back at them from the outside with a look of fright, but at the same time you could see the love he had in him. I knew he was just so scared because of how he was abandoned, found in a business basement after several days.

After months of him being passed up, I pulled him the first week of August 2023. We were dangerously full and I couldn't handle him not making it out. He was first fostered by Karen Kelley Helping Dogs Be Dogs , then Ms. Kara Neavor Davila, then just before Thanksgiving, he came to our home. He was the perfect fit. He was the best dog, who was very best friends to our Lala. Over the last six months he became a fixture. He slept on my pillow next to my head wrapped in a "Middy ball" as we called it. We always knew if we were late for supper because he would let us know at "Middy o'clock" it was 30 minutes past due. (5:45 to 6:00pm)
Today we don't get to hear Middy o'clock, Middy: our sweet blockhead, who loves everyone and everything even if they don't love him, our precious boy who never met a stranger was ❀️adopted❀️. We've both held back the tears but, when we walked in our room after getting back, it hit us like a ton of bricks. He's gone. We shouldn't be sad, because the most amazing family, who brought their extended family just to meet him, adopted him. Our hearts are heavy. Middy bounced around our house with his floppy ears always happy, even when he was "in trouble". Example: (eating my cowgirl boots that one time) we just couldn't be upset at him.

Here is to forever with your new family Middy. The one we have prayed about and the one you deserved. Middy will now be in the great state of New York enjoying a big backyard and cooler temperatures. Thank you so much to Sherrye Smith Bounds and her family for seeing what a special boy Middy is and adopting him. We are excited to see updates in the future when he makes it all the way home.

Now, after a small break, we can begin to help others. Y'all, we owe Temperance Hill Animal Hospital a lot. We have had several dogs fully vetted recently. If you want to help us or can help us, please consider donating directly to them by phone for our account or to our bank account at:

Thank you all. Miss you Middy bobantom sweet boy.

We are proud to announce one of our previous adopters, Shelley, saw Juniors story after he was returned. She couldn't stand for him to not have his forever home. So, after some thought, talking to her husband and contacting us Wednesday, she came to meet him Friday.

We are honest, Junior is a lot to deal with. He's smart, fun and loves dogs and people, but he's sometimes destructive when he isn't exercised properly and can be a lot for a new dog who isn't used to a fur brother who is always full force play. We knew he needed a dominant owner who knew how to correct him and praise him.

If you all recall Ollie, one of our former LeeAnn's Rescue dogs, was also a big guy who had some manner issues and was returned to us after his initial adopter couldn't deal with him. He was smart as a whip and just needed someone to work with him. The amazing Karen Kelley Helping Dogs Be Dogs and TJ Mac worked with him and he was adopted by Shelley Watson Smith. He has since become one of the best boys for Shelley and her husband. Shelley decided Ollie needed a play partner and Junior fit that bill.

She took him home on Friday and now we are a few days into his adoption and we have received these photos.

Please, don't ever give up on them. They sometimes just need a little work. We all didn't come out perfect nor are we still. We had others help mold us and teach us and that's what made us better, what helped us learn and grow into what we are today. I am so glad I was not given up on by others in my life or I might not be where I am today. We all should remember this when we add a new fur member to our family. Thank you Shelley, for not giving up on an abused, but loving boy who just needed the right family, to complete him and learn from.

Here's to forever. Junior and Ollie BFF's

Y'all, please pass along Koa and his story in our previous post. If anyone or anything needs that chance, it's him. Please consider adopting him.
