Last weekend Storm took to the road with Karen Potter to go to her first big cluster. This girl handled it like a seasoned pro. She managed to come away with WB two days and reserve on another. Thank you judges Faye Strauss and Angela Pickett for finding our girl. Thank you Karen for taking her along and presenting her so well.

It’s been a day of heartbreak and healing as we said goodbye to our Laser. Although I loved him to death, he was Brian’s heart dog.
He was my first dog to show and learn about the ring. With Karen Potter’s help, we made him a Champion! CH Scout ‘Em Out Lightin’ It Up RN, JH NA Prize II
We attempted rally and he decided the down command on a concrete floor was a stupid idea. We manage a rally novice title out of the deal. Elizabeth Wells couldn’t even convince him with her magic meatballs!

Then we turned to agility. The first trial he decided jumps were not his thing and went around everyone of them. Complete all the other obstacles, no problem!

His conclusion: Just let me hunt!

The only thing he truly loved was hunting! Hated the truck ride but could not wait to be put down in the woods! He would pave his own path frustrating the heck out of us when we want to go north,he’d go south and just when we were at our whits end…slams on point…there’s a bird. With the look of “told you so,it was this way!” He would point and track and point and re-point patiently tracking a bird until he pinned it. I can not tell you the number of woodcock and grouse he put up in his 13 seasons but he was our number 1! We learned we had to leash him when it was ready to leave the woods. He would start ghost pointing, taking us back in the woods knowing we were heading back to the truck and his turn was over. Even with congestive heart failure in his last years, never missed a step; maybe a little slower and closer but raring to go!

Ending an enjoyable weekend with friends, two-legged and 4-legged!

Willow came out with a Group 3 Sporting group after taking Best of Opposite and Owner Handler today. Thank you judges Linda Clark and Mr. Neil T. McDevit respectively.

She also pulled a Best of Opposite and Owner Handler on Saturday. Thank you judge Dr. Eric Liebes.

This gave her the final points and major win needed for her Grand Championship.

A fun weekend spent at Kalamazoo!

Thanks to Booker we brought home a woodcock limit and Willow contributed to 1 more! Gabby is finding her legs in the woods and had some wild bird experience today. She is showing off her single tracking in the 2nd pic! Laser got to sit this one out as he hunted twice earlier in the week and we ran out of light!
