Did you know that the Kong dog toy started out as part of a hard rubber rear suspension bump stop for a Volkswagen Bus?
Joe Markham invented the Kong in the mid-1970s when he tried to distract his German Shepherd, Fritz, from chewing rocks and threw him some left over rubber parts from a VW bus he was working on.
The picture is not a Kong -- it's a rear bump stop from a 1964-1979 VW Bus.

THE WILLOW CATS

They call them pussy-willows,
But there's no cat to see
Except the little furry toes
That stick out on the tree:
I think that very long ago,
When I was just born new,
There must have been whole pussy-cats
Where just the toes stick through----
And every Spring it worries me,
I cannot ever find
Those willow-cats that ran away
And left their toes behind!

On days when it is too cold to ride, Dr. Severn likes to pamper her horses to some acupuncture 🩺 💉 Acupuncture involves placing thin needles into certain acupoints to stimulate nerves, relieve pain, and promote healing. Dr. Severn uses an electro-unit in combination with acupuncture, which adds an electric stimulation into the needles that provides additional pain relief and stimulation of the nerves involved. The regular use of acupuncture also helps to maintain a healthy musculoskeletal system. We have also seen many benefits with our older patients (horses and dogs!) in managing age-related problems - like arthritis.
