Just wrapped up our final winter storm preps with more than 500 animals in our care. Our campus will be closed to the community on Tuesday but will reopen on Wednesday, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Emergency services including Animal Cruelty Investigations and Injured Animal Ambulance will be on a modified schedule. 🐴🚨 Rescue: Horse Saved from Severe Neglect! 🚨🐴

On Saturday, Houston SPCA Animal Cruelty Investigators rescued a horse suffering from severe neglect in Dayton, Texas. This poor horse had a deeply painful, embedded rope in his neck, causing significant distress and injury.

Due to the severity of the wound, we had to blur the images. The horse was rushed to our Equine Rescue Center for immediate veterinary care.

This rescue underscores the importance of reporting animal cruelty and neglect. If you see an animal in distress, please don't hesitate to reach out for help.

Adoption Update: Ellie Moo 🐄

It's been a year since we rescued Ellie Moo, a neonatal calf who needed intensive veterinary care, including bottle feeding. Found in deplorable conditions alongside her severely emaciated mom, Ellie has since been adopted into a new home! 🚨 Rescue Update: English Bulldog Saved 🚨

Over the weekend, our cruelty investigators rescued an English Bulldog living in heartbreaking conditions. She was confined to a patio covered in f***s, suffering from Cherry Eye, and very underweight. 😢

Cherry Eye is a condition where the gland in the third eyelid becomes inflamed and protrudes. It can be painful and, if left untreated, may lead to further complications. Our veterinary team is already working on treating this condition, along with addressing her weight and overall health.

🌟Starting your Monday off on the right hoof... Meet Crystal! 🌟

Crystal is an off-the-track Thoroughbred who came into our care through a cruelty investigation in March. She arrived with six other emaciated horses, weighing only 848 pounds. Thanks to the dedicated care of our team, Crystal has gained nearly 300 pounds and now weighs a healthy 1,110 pounds!

This beautiful horse has a sweet temperament and is ready to find a new home. With the right family, Crystal has the potential to become a fantastic show horse.

Petey's journey began with uncertainty, but thanks to our dedicated team, he is now safe. Watch as he races through our campus barn. Just a few more weeks and he will be ready for adoption.
