🐾 **Trigger stacking is real — and it impacts how our dogs cope.**

Just like us, dogs have a limit. When stress builds without enough time to recover, it can overflow.
👉 A spilled coffee. Running late. Traffic. Your boss calling. One more thing, and you unravel.

Our dogs feel this too. A smell. A sudden noise. Another dog. A crowded space. Stress stacks up — and suddenly, it’s too much.

✨ That’s why muzzle training isn’t just a safety tool. A well-fitted muzzle can:
✔️ Prevent bites in high-stress situations
✔️ Show others your dog needs space
✔️ Support gradual desensitization
✔️ Allow your dog to sniff, rest & decompress safely

Your dog isn’t being “difficult.”
They’re not giving you a hard time — they’re *having a hard time.* 💕

Meeting them with empathy is one of the best gifts you can give.

🌡️ **HEAT STROKE IN DOGS IS SERIOUS.**
Would you know the signs if your dog was in danger?

Dogs can’t tell us when they’re overheating — but their bodies will.
Look for:
🔸 Excessive panting
🔸 Drooling
🔸 Lethargy or collapse
🔸 Vomiting or diarrhea
🔸 Pale or bright red gums
🔸 Uncoordinated movement

🚨 Brachycephalic breeds (like Frenchies & Bulldogs), seniors, puppies, and dogs with medical conditions are especially at risk.

💧 Keep water handy. Avoid hot pavement. Walk early or late.
🐾 When in doubt, cool them down and call your vet.

🧡 Let’s keep our pups safe this summer.

If the only time you use a recall cue is to end your dog's freedom, whether that’s calling them away from play, exploration, or social interaction, then your dog will start to associate the recall with the end of something enjoyable.

Over time, they may become more hesitant or even resistant to responding to your cue, because to them, “come” means “fun is over.”

To build a strong, reliable recall, your dog needs a positive history with it. This means making it worth their while not just with food, but with outcomes that maintain or even enhance the fun.

Sometimes that looks like calling them to you, rewarding them, and then releasing them to go play again. Other times, it means incorporating games or movement so the recall itself becomes a fun and rewarding behavior.

Ultimately, a good recall isn’t about bribing your dog with the highest value treat. It’s about creating a consistent pattern of reinforcement that tells your dog, “recalling to me is always a good choice.”

That trust and predictability are what make the cue reliable, not the novelty of a reward!

Corn + Pop are two female ginger angels that were dumped at the EC where I do relief. A little under a year old.

They’ve had a full exam and are apparently healthy. However, as an EC we don’t have access to usual vaccines etc.

I am happy to transport as they are being fostered in Magnolia at said hospital.

Looking for rescue backup for medical support and full time homes. Open to transport.

These two have no plan but the clinic is caring for them daily ❤️ (clinic gave permission to post)
