Mr Beau just went back to his foster! Here at Dante’s Dog Farm, we love to help our local rescues! We regularly donate trainings to local rescues to help give their dogs a better chance of adoption! And the best part, our training guarantee goes with them! If you adopt a dog that has been trained by us, we will be there to assist with the transition process and make sure that you are set up for success! This is a 6 week group class, and at the end each dog will be able to test for their canine good citizen certificate!

As many of you know, we here at 🐕 Dante’s Dog Farm 🐩 are advocates and practicers of balanced training methods! I’m here today to dispel some of the rumors surrounding how we train, and why it may be the right method for you and your dog!

Rumor 1️⃣: Balanced training is harsh and inhumane.
Truth: Balanced training methods are designed to be fair and respectful, focusing on guiding your dog towards positive behavior. Although it involves corrections, these are purposeful, thoughtful and always paired with positive reinforcement.

Rumor 2️⃣: Balanced training doesn't work on all dogs.
Truth: One of the biggest strengths of balanced training is its flexibility. This approach can be tailored to any breed, age, and temperament. It's all about understanding your dog's individual needs and adjusting the training accordingly.

Rumor 3️⃣: Balanced training is complicated and difficult to implement.
Truth: Like learning any new skill, balanced training requires patience and consistency. However, once you understand your dog's behavior, the process becomes much simpler.

It's important to remember that every dog is unique, and what works for one might not work for another. Balanced training is about finding what works best for YOUR dog and using that to foster a loving and respectful relationship. 🐶💗

However, during today’s outing, we needed some items from the outdoor garden section! Unfortunately with this heat wave, the pavement is WAY too hot for little paws 😧🥵

Sweet Milo did wonderfully at the adoption event yesterday, and as a treat after he got a toy that looks like him!
He is nearing completion of his basic obedience program and we couldn’t be prouder of him.
We can’t wait to see him in a loving home and all the things he does from here on!

When you hear working dog, what comes to mind?
A service dog, dutifully attending to their handlers needs?
A police K9, chasing bad guys?
Action, thrill, high intensity work?

We’d like to invite you to meet our working dog Ragnar, and below are pretty typical snapshots of what his day looks like!

Ragnar is a Central Asian Shepard, a livestock guarding breed out of the Turkey/Russia areas of the world. He is just under 2 years old, weighs in around 160lbs, and is pictured below next to a 5’9 human.

Ragnar is a working dog on our farm, and spends most of his days just as pictured. Lounging around on our porch, getting some love, and generally being as lazy as possible!

If there is a threat to our property, a predator or invader, Ragnar springs into action. This breed was bred to fight bears and wolves to protect their flock in the regions they were developed in, there isn’t much Ragnar can’t handle!

But in order to do his job, when he’s not in protection mode, he needs to conserve energy while still remaining aware and alert in case he’s needed! That way if and when there is something he needs to attend to, he is rested and ready to work!

Did you know Dante’s Dog Farm offers livestock guardian training?
Livestock guardians benefit from obedience just like any other working dog, or any dog for that matter! With livestock specific training, we work on commands and skills that will apply to their job as a LGD. These include knowing their property boundaries, a strong recall, and of course, desensitization to livestock with the help of our assistant trainers of the goat variety 🐐

Meet Shadow! Shadow is currently in training with us, but once he’s done he will be available for adoption through Active Paws Rescue!

Shadow is a sweet pup who’s a little on the shyer side. He is with us to build some confidence and learn his obedience commands!

Given some time and patience Shadow would be a wondeful companion for a quiet laid back person or couple. This boy is so deserving of spending the rest of his days in a loving home!

We’d like to formally introduce this handsome face, and share a little bit about him!

This is Solo 🖤

Solo was found about a month ago with a yellow rope tied around his neck. He was taken in by some Good Samaritans, and after trying to find his owner, a member of the family decided to adopt him, and brought him to us for evaluation and training. He’s been with us for almost 3 weeks now!

Below is a video of Solo’s first outing! This smart wonderful boy has gone from fairly unhandled, with no concept of leash walking, to taking on tractor supply like a champ in just about a month. We are so proud of him! Way to go, Solo!

Community Outings! ⭐️

Did you know 🤔
Community outings are a built in part of many of our training packages!

🦴 Our 3 week package will usually touch lightly on a few trips into the community
🎾 Our 6 week package focuses heavily on a community component
🐾 Service dog training includes full public access training across all environments (check out the photo below of one of our service dog prospects rockin his training in Disneyland!)

But what do community outings look like? Let’s talk about it! 💡

With any training package, we first lay the foundation of obedience at home on our property, before venturing out in the community. We want your dog to feel confident in what he or she is doing before adding in other stimuli.

For obedience packages, we will only bring dogs to PET FRIENDLY establishments. These includes Tractor Supply, pet stores, Home Depots, our local brewery, and restaurants that offer outdoor and pet friendly porches!

We gauge the level of stimulation for each place and match it to your dog’s readiness- starting with less busy places or times of day, and working up to busier and more chaotic places!

We then work your dog’s obedience in the midst of it! This is where we also address any public issues your dog may have been experiencing, such as reactivity to strangers or other dogs!

For service dogs in training, ADA laws allow these dogs access to most public places, so these dogs will come with us almost everywhere we go in our day to day life, to prepare them for life with their handlers.

We will work on obedience across the community for the first leg of service dog training.

During the second leg, we will then add task work which we will then expand into the community as well!

Whether you’re looking to bring your personal pet with you to your next dog friendly outing, or you’re looking for a service dog to accompany you in public across settings, Dante’s Dog Farm is your resource for all things public access training!

Let’s talk about transitions home! 🐕‍🦺

When you book with Dante’s Dog Farm, there are two lessons that are built into your training package to help your dog adjust to maintaining their training even once they return home! These lessons are the go home, and the follow up!

GO HOME LESSONS: At the end of your dog’s training course, we schedule a go home lesson on our property when you come to pick them up! This is where we’ll show you all their commands, teach you how to work with them, and go over how to maintain and continue their training! At this time we will also sit and talk with you about your goals with your dog moving forward! We want you to leave your go home lesson feeling confident in what both you and your dog have learned!!

FOLLOW UP LESSONS: Two weeks after we send your dog home, we like to schedule a follow up lesson in your home! We’ll come out, make sure everything is still going well, and help fix any little holes we find. It is normal to experience some regression as your dog adjusts to their training back in their home environment and with your family, but during this follow up we can make sure everything is still on track!

These two scheduled lessons are what we’ve found to be most successful in helping dogs transition and maintain their training, and helping owners feel confident in themselves and their dogs!

With our training guarantee, you also have access to continued lessons and refreshers following these as needed! Those can be utilized at any time!

Dante’s Dog Farm has a busy week of evals ahead of us!! Which makes a great opportunity to talk about the the evaluation process!

-Evals are a requirement to be accepted into our behavioral, service dog, or sport programs. But we are also happy to do them if you want more of a hands on opinion on the best obedience course for your and your dog’s needs!

-Evaluations are absolutely free and there is no obligation to book following!

-They can be done in your home, at our facility, or at a community location!

-Expect evals to take between 15 and 30 minutes typically

-Durint the eval, we will ask you questions, talk about your goals, interact with your dog, and observe you interacting with them!

We acknowledge and are so grateful for the huge amount of trust and responsibility you put in us to take care of your best friend! We know you’ll miss them- and that’s okay! Here are some things to help ease your mind about the possibility of leaving your precious pup in our care 💛

TEXT UPDATES 📱

We keep in regular contact with all our clients through the training process! These updates include little tidbits about what your dog is working on, things they’re struggling with or things they’re acing, things they’re enjoying, and overall summaries of their time with us and well-being! We generally send these out every few days, or if your dog has a particularly awesome session that we want to share with you!

PHOTOS/VIDEOS 📸

In addition to updates, we send regular photos and videos of your pups. These photos and videos range from glamour shots (most of the photos we use on this page are photos we took to send to previous clients of their dogs!), to photos and videos of your dog during their training, to them having fun and running around or making friends!

VISITS 🐾

You are welcome to come visit your dog at any point during the training process. Visits are by appointment, so just let us know when you’re wanting to come out and we’re happy to schedule you to come spend some time snugglin your sweet fur kid!
