Was so satisfying to work on this super stoic mare yesterday. She is perfect under saddle and her ground manners indicate that she carries some tension. We started off with a craniosacral session, and her drool puddle (see second pic) was a record setter in this practice! She relaxed deeply into the cross ties, and after she understood our goal was to relax, we introduced magnawave and deeper massage, culminating in a lovely set of endorphin releases

Some lovely post horse show sessions for the hard working and winning team at Mezzi was as expressive in his endorphin releases as he was in his championship over fences rounds, with dozens of endorphin releases. Isy was more subdued but super appreciative of the poll relaxation that the pollcap enabled. Jaspar was also super expressive and kept checking in with me ahead of an endorphin release, “is this normal”? And sweet Archie was grateful for some extra love returning home. Our horses work so hard for us, and they all carry the tension in their bodies of all the try they give. It’s lovely to give comfort back in a way that supports their recovery and well being after a big effort

Photobiomodulation therapy uses light to activate the photoreceptors in cells. The mechanism works through cellular mitochondria. I use an 800mW class 3b cold laser… what determines the efficacy of this therapy for the reduction of pain and inflammation is the dose of energy delivered, the location it is applied, and the frequency of the treatment. Boarders at the equine wellness center benefit from various holistic care options! Cinderella receives daily photobiomodulation therapy and pemf, as well as weekly massage. As she’s not allowed to have turn out just yet, she also benefits from daily handgrazing. We love getting to have all the quality time with her, and bonus, then we know her well enough that we can spot any changes before they can become a problem! ❤️❤️❤️

We use the class 3b cold laser for photobiomodulation therapy - increasing circulation, reducing pain and inflammation. Photobiomodulation (PBM Therapy) is a laser or LED light therapy that improves tissue repair (skin wounds, muscle, tendon, bone, nerves), reduces inflammation and reduces pain wherever the beam is applied.

My first site visit for balanced equine from our new base in Chapel Hill NC was to the lovely to work on some of the client horses of and , and their own sweet pony. Lots of lovely releases from this crew, even as they are all getting to know me - even skeptical little Max released in response to some trigger point work.

Twitch response: sometimes in my session reports I will note that I observe a “twitch response” when working a trigger point release.
A trigger point is simply ima tight painful muscle knot, often due to repetitive muscle strain. They can cause the horse to react sharply when palpated but when the tension is released, the horse may exhibit an endorphin release (often manifest through the open mouth yanking, rolling eyes, deep sighs, licking and chewing). Deeply developed trigger pints can also cause referred pain, and may be resolved in one session or take several to resolve.
The twitch response is the transient visible reflexive contraction and relaxation of the constricted muscle fibers. It often extends away from the actual trigger point as the reaction spreads through the fascia and connected muscle chains. It is a physical manifestation of a trigger point being resolved, I love to see it!

Last 2 sessions of the week - Cora’s competitive nature showed through - she was trying to demonstrate more endorphin releases than her barn mate this morning. Sweet Gia is a charmer who started licking and chewing when she saw me. I love all my horsie clients and done of them get to know me well enough over time that they anticipate what the session will bring for them ❤️❤️

Client appreciation post for Cooper today who let me work pretty deeply though some long held muscle tension in his deep hamstring group. I usually grab a few snaps from my video log of their faces during endorphin releases, when the happen to stay in frame for them, but Cooper had sooo many releases today that I stopped counting after 20. Good boy Cooper! Thanks for working with me!!
