Schnauzer Rescue of Texas Schnauzer Rescue of Texas (SRT) exists for the sole purpose of ensuring all Schnauzers we assist make it to their forever - and perfect - home! A SCHNAUZER.
(196)

Three friends, with different skills and compatible styles, and with a strong, common desire to save lost, neglected and abandoned Schnauzers, pooled their resources and worked together to form Schnauzer Rescue of Texas (SRT). The three Directors leveraged a collective fifteen years of rescue experience to create an organization with one singular purpose – putting Schnauzers in loving homes. SRT w

as organized with a belief that responsible rescue can be rewarding and fun…and can match loving homes with countless Schnauzers when everyone pulls in a common direction. A leap of faith was taken knowing there would be those who would volunteer their time, their resources and their homes to help create a growing network where Schnauzers could be loved, and healed if necessary, as they await that perfect individual, couple or family to bring them to their forever home. SRT is a non-profit, 501c3 organization. Donations to the organization are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. No one in the organization is compensated for their efforts with the exception of the feel-good compensation of knowing the impact that committed individuals can have when focused on a common cause! Every penny we receive goes toward our unwavering mission. Whether as an adopter, a volunteer or by helping us financially, we hope you’ll experience the energy of being part of Schnauzer Rescue of Texas. IN A HOME. KNOWING LOVE!

Soon to be ready for a new home!

Houston TX

Espresso, as named by the shelter, was literally saved from the euthanasia table. This sweet 3-year-old, 15 lb mini Schnauzer tragically suffered serious hip injuries after being hit by a vehicle. Thankfully, Dr. Hanson at Neighborhood Vet Centers, a wonderful partner of our rescue, was able to perform urgent surgery, including a neuter, femoral head osteotomy, and repair of his sacroiliac joint. Espresso is now recovering far beyond expectations—he’s back to enjoying walks and hopping up on the couch.

Espresso is a delightful little companion who gets along well with other dogs and is adapting well to the cat in his foster home. He loves to sleep near his humans and is always ready for a cozy snuggle session on the couch. He quickly learns the routines of his foster family, is fully house trained, and walks wonderfully on a leash.

While Espresso has been through a lot, and can sometimes nip when frightened, he is a loving and resilient dog. We’re happy to discuss his temperament further with anyone interested. Out of caution we are looking for a home for him with no small children.

Another remarkable transformation ❤️

Midas was rescued from a bad situation in August this year. The 1st picture is when we picked him up and had to shave him completely down. It took awhile for him to be adopted as he didn't have a beard and people couldn't envision how beautiful he would be. He's simply gorgeous and is living his best life with his new family.

Look at me now!

Corky was rescued from a shelter in November mostly bald with a skin infection, most probably from fleas. He was surrendered by his owners to the shelter. He was adopted last week and is already so handsome and loving his new home. He has a buddy to play with too which makes him very happy. At SRT, it really was All About Him!

I'm ready for my new home

Sugarland, TX

I'm Lucy Lorraine, a female salt and pepper Miniature Schnauzer mix who is about two years old and weighs about fifteen pounds with natural ears and tail. My mom got sick and passed away and a nice lady took me in. I really prefer to be your one and only pup though and so she decided it would be best to ask SRT to find me the perfect home. I'm a 100% total lapdog and just love to snuggle and give kisses. I'm crate and leash trained and my house training is being evaluated. Being in a two new places in a short time has me a bit confused, but I'll get there. I've been with children who are 11, 13 and 15 and toddlers too and them all. Haven't been around cats so can't say if I would just ignore them. Click the Adopt tab, complete your application and ask for me, Lucy Lorraine, as a pup of interest.

Looking for a new home

Amarillo, TX

I'm Harley Gil, a male liver and cream Miniature Schnauzer who is about eight years old and weighs about twenty pounds with natural ears and a docked tail. My owner was a senior and he's no longer able to care for me. Family members contacted SRT to find me a wonderful home. I house and leash trained and am wonderful with children. I love to play with toys and other pups. I've been exposed to cats in my temporary home and I do find them interesting, but we haven't been allowed to play. I get high marks at both the groomers and vet. I'm described as having a sweet personality with a submissive easy going way about me. Click the Adopt tab, complete your application and ask for me, Harley Gil, as a pup of interest.

New homes needed

Baytown, TX

Our owner is in the military and has been reassigned to California. We can't go🥲 with them so we need a new home by 12/6. We are NOT a bonded pair so can be separated. We are both under ten pounds. Tooties is the blonde female and my owners don't know how old I am. Fang is the black and white male about 1 year old. We are both house, crate and leash trained and fierce protectors of our home. There's a ten year old child in the home and we are fine with this child. We haven't had much socialization so need a foster/adopter willing to work with us so we can be the best that we can be! Approved fosters, contact [email protected] or apply at www.SchnauzerRescueTexas.me under the Adopt tab.

I'm looking for a new home.

Pearland, TX

My name is Natty and I'm a female salt and pepper schnoodle who is about 4 years old and weighs forty-two pounds. My family loves me very much and take great care of me. My problem is that I'm leash reactive with a high prey drive. I can clear the 4' fence easily and even ignore the electric collar when I see a small dog beyond my fence. My parents took me to 3 weeks of training and that training needs to be continuously reinforced so that I listen when on walks when I see other dogs. I'm perfectly fine with the pups in the house and even the cats. I'm a loving, compassionate and loyal to my humans and I love belly rubs. This is a very difficult decision my owners are making so don't blame them. They want me to find a home where I'll be safe and other small dogs will be too. My perfect home would be in a more rural area, with a good higher fence so that I can't escape. I'm crate and house trained. Approved adopters, contact [email protected] and apply to adopt at www.SchnauzerRescueTexas.me

ADOPTED

UPDATE: We have had an overwhelming interest in Duke and Wader and are closing applications for these 2 boys. Thank you everyone for your interest in them.

Meet Duck (the darker male doodle) and Wader (the lighter male doodle) Doodle Dandy.

Duck and Wader Doodle Dandy just arrived into rescue and are approximately 5 months old. These two crazy cats are very dog and people friendly and love to play as any good puppy should. As they are puppies still, they will need some training once they settle into a new home. They are ok in a kennel and will go outside to potty when encouraged to do so. Both enjoy a good car ride. Duck (currently 19 lbs) and Wader (currently 22 lbs) are expected to be medium sized dogs.

If you are interested in adopting Duck or Wader please apply on our website at www.schnauzerrescuetexas.me or if already approved send an email to [email protected].

I'm ready for my forever home

San Antonio, TX

I'm Tatiana a black female Miniature Schnauzer mix who is about six years old and weighs about ten pounds with natural ears and tail. I was rescued from a shelter way down in south Texas. I had what is called a microphthalmia which is a malformed eye and the dog doctor thought it should be removed as it looked like it was causing me pain. I had that surgery and also got fixed and a nice dental. I'm recovering very well and doing great with my foster family. My temporary foster has been wonderful and I get to curl up in laps and get lots of pets. They describe me as super easy and chill. My house training certificate has been signed. Click the Adopt tab, complete your application and ask for me, Tatiana, as a pup of interest.

UPDATE: FREYA has her foster and is now in Dayton. She's good with the other pups and is huge! Foster believes closer to 100 lbs as she makes the 75 lb doberman look tiny.

Hey Y'all I need a new home!

Houston, TX

My name is Freya and my human (who is a senior) was in an accident and can no longer care for me. No one in the family can take care of me either so they contacted SRT to find me a great home. I'm a female salt and pepper Giant Schnauzer who is 2 years old and weighs 80 lbs. I'm house and crate trained and good around children and other dogs. I haven't been around cats, so can't comment on them. At the groomer and vet's office, I'm well behaved. If you have giant schnauzer experience and interested in me, complete your application under the Adopt tab at www. SchnauzerRescueTexas.me
