Another first for me today, at an unplanned nail trim.

I answered a "free in driveway" for an item, said I was coming and that I knew where he was since I do nail trims in the area.
When I got there he said he had a rottie if I could do a trim, but she would need a muzzle, no problem.
Isn't Roma gorgeous? Two men gently held and patted her sporadically(constantly is not good), they knew what to do. I sat on the ground trimming.
Halfway thru, she turned and rolled me over, so fast I can't recall exactly. I don't think I could have reacted fast enough to roll away from her on my own
I am SO proud of Roma. It was a very controlled " I don't like this". There was no repeated lunging as her owner instantly pulled her back. She did not growl or bare her teeth. This was not "oh I'm gonna eat your face", nor was she agitated afterwards.
At 96 pounds, she could have made a different choice but did not.
I could not let her stay with one side done, not good orthopedically, so she sat and I did the last two paws.
Roma also has FOUR dew claws, so bonus points for her extra tolerance.
Happy to add her to the gang!

Chance was a new client yesterday. At 11 months, he is quite active, but did really well.
His owner did very well when I accidentally picked a dew claw and it bled quite a bit.
I do not charge when that happens and I try to keep the dog with me until it stops.
He was happy to get down and go sniff more stuff:)

The year was 1985 when my fingers first clutched a pair of dog nail trimmers. I'm still learning the craft.
Yesterday morning was a new at home trim visit. I did not know everyone worked nights so there was not much light.
We were stuck in the foyer.
It turned out to be perfect. It was big enough that the owner (a great holder) and I could both maneuver around on the floor, but small enough that the dogs could not retreat very far. Folding doors kept them corralled.
Added foyer as potential location to my knowledge base.

80 lb Beau still thinks he's a puppy, "still" is not in his vocablary:) Lots of playful wrastling there.

Fritz, great name for a blond German, was much calmer, Beau made fun of him for being a wimp.

Charlie was just flat perfect. Paws down perfect.

They had been trim clients at the Greater Good. I think everyone became spoiled to at home trims pretty fast.

Whew! These costumes came in at noon TODAY( we tried to meet earlier) while I was in Spring, got home at 5, rushed the 3 closest models out to the yard, you can tell NONE of them were happy.
They do not care that Halloween is almost here:)

This deserved a post all by itself.
Today at my first nail trim with Hank, it sounded EXACTZLY as if he said "hello" in a parrot voice. Surely not.
I didn't say anything until the owner said "Hello" back. ( So I wasn't just imagining it.)
He did it several times.
Hank is 18 months old. She had never heard it before.
