Plum has had an epic comeback.

She was turned in to the shelter as a sad, patchy-haired, broken girl. She’s now a gorgeous brindle babe who is in search of her forever home!

She’s 12 months old, 50lbs, and the snuggliest baby. She’s wonderful with dogs, people and kids. Her ideal home would be one where she can be part of the action! She’s a snack queen who loves to rough and tumble then curl up in your lap for a snooze. Plum is a special girl looking for that perfect family. Could that be you?

Welcome Dorothy!!

This perfect potato princess found her young, cute self on the euthanasia list because her poor little eyelids turn inward, causing a lot of irritation. She needs double entropian surgery on upper and lower eyelids. We have her scheduled for this surgery on Monday so she’s gonna have a new lease on life next week.

Unfortunately, despite testing negative for heartworm at the shelter, when we took her to our vet, it showed low heartworm positive. Poor little honey girl.

None of this is tamping down her fabulous spirit. She’s a fairly low energy gal who just wants to snooze next to you and shows short spurts of zoomies and jumpies.

Dorothy, we can’t wait to get you all fixed up!

Tremendous thanks to a foster village for letting us be able to save this peach. You can follow along her journey via her Fosters .t.g and

🚨🚨this guy is on the 2/12 euthanasia list and needs a foster until March 10 (when another foster can take over)!!

He’s a 4 year old, 78lb mastiff mix who seems to be a total cuddle bug!! He is so squishy and sweet. He met a few dogs - unaltered males, unaltered females and puppies and did fine with all of them. He seems to love a wiggly pup 🤗

Please let us know if you can help so we can tag him!!

Need a foster in the Houston area who can get him on 2/12.

The fact that people aren’t banging down our door to adopt our sweet little sun pig, Ruthie, is an absolute travesty. To meet Ruthie, to know Ruthie, is to fall head over heels for Ruthie. We adore all the dogs in rescue but this girl is something else. Out of this universe amazing.

Let’s address the elephant in the room: she’s not a fluffy doodle or a tiny we**ie that is blowing up your camera screen screaming “I’m so cute”. No, instead she’s a perfect pittie princess.

If people cared about temperament over looks, Ruthie would have been adopted the second she came into rescue. She’s wonderful with people, she’s excellent with dogs, and she does the cutest full body wiggle when you come home. It always makes your heart burst and you feel like a million bucks because how on earth can this creature love you this much!?

She’s potty trained, kennel trained, has zero reactivity. We know her best friend is out there, they just haven’t found her yet. In the meantime, we are going to keep loving on Ruthie and thank our lucky stars every damn day that she’s with us.

It takes an incredibly selfless person to not only agree to taking in a hospice dog, but actively volunteer to bring in an old male dog covered in lumps and bumps and a sack of skin and bones.

asked us if we would agree to tag Biscuit when he ended up on the euthanasia list. She knew all too well that he would be a hospice case, which would result in a fairly quick heartbreak. We are absolutely not ones to say “no” when a committed foster asks us for help.

Unfortunately, Biscuit was a medical mess - a splenic mass, a testicular mass, an elbow mass and a hernia. But we wanted to show him the best few days, weeks, or months of his life. Sadly, he only got 2 weeks with us but his amazing, loving, dedicated foster mama made sure those were the best 2 weeks of his life. We feel so privileged that we got to be a part of his journey on earth.

Biscuit, we hope your space ride to the other side was full of happy memories. Thank you for sharing a small part of your life with us.

thank you for letting your heart break so Biscuit’s heart would never need to break again.

We are all still reeling from the loss of Opal but the show must go on. There’s no stopping in this field until there is enough critical mass to change laws and to change minds about animal welfare. In the meantime, we will keep getting dogs out of the shelter and into foster homes.

Princess Gummy Bear is healing well after her spay and has an evaluation at the eye clinic in 2 weeks to discuss cherry eye surgery. She’s a sassy, cuddly, hilarious, adorable little fur ball. She really embodies Sultan, the footstool from Beauty and the Beast. She loves attention and pets.

She’s a 3ish year old, 10lb Pekingese cutie.

It’s with a very heavy heart we share that Opal crossed the rainbow bridge today 💔

She appeared to be in pain this morning, so we had her seen immediately by the critical care team at Gulf Coast. Unfortunately, Opal took a turn for the worse. Her BP was rapidly declining and her bloodwork was progressively moving in the wrong direction. After consulting with a few of the vets who worked on Opal’s case, the conclusion was letting her go was the best for Opal. Her body was no longer serving her.

We are shattered that this is the end of Opal’s story. But we take solace in that Opal was able to cross with her foster parents by her side, surrounded by people who loved her deeply and did everything possible to make sure Opal got what she needed. We are forever grateful to her foster for showing Opal what it’s like to be loved and cared for.

W I N N I E

Oh boy oh boy do we loooooove this girl! Winnie is a laid back girlie with a side of silly and an extra helping of affection. She’s lovely with all people and dogs. She doesn’t want for much - just a sofa for lounging and her human for kissing.

She’s about 3 years old and 20lbs and cute as can be. She’s fantastic in her crate (doesn’t make a peep!), good on walks, good in the car.

Winnie recently got spayed and will be going in for heartworm injections over the next 2 months. She will be available to go to her forever family in April!

Welcome Beatrice aka Bea aka Baby B aka Bebe!

Bea caught our eye at the shelter - a tiny little girl who had recently been pregnant, still lactating. She was curled up in a tiny ball on the bed when we saw her and gave us flutter tail wags. That was that - we knew she would be coming with us!

She is 100% lap dog, Velcro baby, your forever shadow. Bea is nothing but sweetness with humans. All she wants is to cuddle. The dogs in her foster home are helping her boost her confidence around other pups. She’s even been caught snuggling with them!

Bea is an easy, laid back girl who just wants to be with her person. She’s great on leash, overall pretty mellow temperament. She’s young and tiny - 1 year old and only 21lbs.

She will be available for adoption soon!

Hey everyone, it’s me Sprout! I wanted to pop on here to ask if you could please help out my mama and me.

Sadly, after a few months of being at home, my knees really started bothering me and my mom saw that I was limping. She got me checked out immediately because she’s the best mom and doc said I needed not one but TWO knee surgeries. Turns out, I have luxating patellas in both back legs. Bummer.

I got my first knee surgery this week and I’m recovering like a champ. I’ll get my second surgery as soon as I’m healed from this one. I’m getting lots of Pupsicles and Benebone time while I recover.

Since this was a major medical surprise, my rescue really wants to help my mama out financially! Each of my knees is costing $3,100 so $6,200 total. I’m an expensive little boy but I’m worth it!! I make my mama so happy.

Can you please share our fundraiser? I’d really like to have both knees fixed 😃

Thanks to my Texas family for helping me find my mama!!

Xoxo,
Sprout
