Government overreach and ignorance. A Florida man's pets were killed by Florida Fish and Wildlife despite years of trying to remain legal with changing permit requirements.

The kicker is that the officers didn't know the species they were targeting and "accidentally" murdered a LEGAL pregnant boa constrictor.

Why should we care? Because species specific and breed specific legislation is not executed properly, nor is it always necessary. Pets are NOT the problem. This is no different than banning certain dogs or cats. My reptiles are my emotional support and service animals. They also serve as therapy animals for others. I would be devastated if any of my babies were murdered by government officers.

Looks like brumation is almost over. Baldrik (tegu) is up and slowly moving around shedding his winter skin. The blue tongue skinks are moving a bit, too.

Went to Sewerfest in Sturtevant yesterday.
Sewerfest is a captive-bred only reptile expo.
Went for feeders and a tortoise.
Came home with feeders, a cherry-head tortoise, and a blue line bearded dragon.
Dragon's name is Leo (Blue line = LEO).
Tortoise's name is Damn Skippy.
Both to young to determine gender just yet.

Welcome our newest Reptile Ambassador: Lilith.

Lilith is a 2-year-old Crawl Cay Boa Constrictor. Her locality is from an island off the coast of Belize. Lilith is a rare locality and a dwarf sized Boa Constrictor. There are very few like her in the world. She is a juvenile and the same size as my baby ball python, Kanne. She will get to only 4-5 feet. She will be mature in 2 more years.
