The scariest holiday of the year is coming up - not Halloween, the Fourth of July! Due to loud fireworks, more dogs go missing on July 4th than any other day. Microchips are an amazing recovery tool, but unfortunately, because of yearly fees and confusing platforms, over 50% of microchips are unregistered, which is like having an unengraved ID tag on your collar.

We've partnered with Fi to offer free for life microchip registrations and updates to all - and when you register via the following form, you will be entered to win a Fi GPS collar and one year subscription, the perfect pairing to a microchip! With a Fi GPS collar, you can track your dog in real time and have extra peace of mind - not to mention track their steps and exercise!

Training tip of the day;

It is always important to reward, reward, reward! That is how puppies and dogs learn. Some are motivated by treats or toys, while others are motivate by praise! Finding what your dog responds to most is one of the most important aspects of training, so you can reward your dog in the best way possible! It is even BETTER to reward in multiple ways, when your puppy does something good (IE Sits when you say “Sit”) a VOICE marker like “YES” right when the behavior happens is a great idea, then comes the treat (the typical most important reward to a dog) and then praise “good job yay!” Dogs take in positive reactions HUGE and so doing multiple reward steps will help your puppy/dog learn exactly what you are looking for.

HAPPY TRAINING!! 🐾🐾

07/07/2020

Training tip of the day;
When teaching your puppy/dog to “come,” never call your puppy to you and punish him/her. For example, if puppy has an accident, don’t call your puppy to you and then tell them they are naughty and put them outside. Always go TO puppy, and take them outside. Calling your puppy to you, and then “punishing” only teaches that when he/she comes to you, it is bad. This will create the “chase me game,” and make recall very difficult.

Remember, always always be positive when calling your puppy. Reward your puppy WHILE they are moving in your direction, “good job” “good girl/boy, come good come!” etc.

As always, any questions please comment or message! I am here to help! - Bethany
