How did your flowers grow this year? The absolute best thing you can do for your garden this fall is amend with high quality animal manure! High quality manure starts with high quality feed 😉 Your garden will grow bigger than your could have imagined if you follow these steps. Amend with lots of organic manure in the fall and during the gardening season spray your plants with a foliage fertilizer. For that check out our OMRI listed Organic Vegetable and Flower Fertilizers. You can find mushrooms just about all year. Maybe not choice edibles this these gorgeous golden oysters. Mushroom Hunting isn’t scary. Do thorough research, go for mushroom walks with groups, buy or checkout field guides.. just don’t download an app! Stick with obvious edible mushrooms like morels, chicken of the woods, maitake, oysters; and medicinals like turkey tail, rishi and chaga. If you want to find a mushroom, research what trees it is in association with and learn to identify those trees. Always research ‘deadly lookalikes’ and become aware of the possible mushrooms that you might mistake for the ones you want. If you are still not sure you can do a spore print to double check you have the right mushrooms (for things like enoki). Do not put your trust in an app or strangers on Facebook. There is gold in the woods! Happy hunting!

It all started with this guy ❤️ My Schmitty. The reason we own a feed store is our passion for animals. When Schmitty was diagnosed with diabetes and required insulin injections twice a day I was confused. I thought I was feeding him the best food money could buy. But it turns out that the 30% carbohydrate dry kibble that he had been on for his whole life was the cause of his illness. That moment in 2017 began my search into pet food, animal nutrition and proactive holistic animal care. Schmitty was diagnosed when he was 12 years old and lived to be 16 ❤️ My sweet love passed away in 2022 after being such a champ with all of his injections, treatments and countless trips to the vet. The best thing I can tell you to do for your cats is get them off of kibble! At the bare minimum add water to their food until it floats and supplement with protein when you can. It might take more time and money but it is worth the extra days you can have with them. Cats are obligate carnivores and their pancreas’ are not designed to product enough insulin and process the corn, wheat, rice, soy flour, gluten meal and the list goes on that is in the majority of cat kibble, even the good ones. Please learn from my Schmitty’s story and calculate the carbohydrate content on your cat’s food! How do you do this? Add up the percentages on the ‘Crude Analysis’ on your cat’s bag of food. Then subtract the sum from 100 and you have the carbohydrate percentage. Tricky huh? I’m not sure why they don’t just list that on the bag like everything else. A wonderful solution to this problem is to feed your cat high quality canned food that is low in carbohydrates. (Spoiler Alert) Weruva canned cat food has around 2% carbohydrates! Compared to some cat kibbles that can have 50% or more! What a year for peonies! They are a reliable, long-lived and easy to grow perennial. Peonies are well worth the expense, asking a friend for a tuber or going to a plant swap. Are you a gardener?
