Don't forget to consider your 🐕🐾 come fireworks time! 🎆
Here are a few tips to keep your 4 legged friends safe this holiday weekend:
🔹️take your dogs out BEFORE the noise begins. Exercising your pets early in the day will prevent them from being outside during the noisy hours that might trigger their fight or flight response
🔹️make sure you have your pooch in a safe place (not outside amidst all the noise and action) like the safety of their crate
🔹️If your dog isn't in a crate be sure they're in a smaller closed room with plenty of toys and some treats
🔹️Should your dog find a way out of the house and off the property- be sure they have up to date contact information or they're chipped
🔹️check your yard for fireworks debris before letting the dog(s) out post fireworks

Athens-Clarke County Animal Services is full, and that's GREAT NEWS FOR ADOPTERS! So many animals to choose from--there's someone for everyone ❤

🎉 Playful or couch potato dogs!
🎉 And kittens--so many kittens!

We are celebrating the 4th of July by subsidizing adoptions:
💥 cats and kittens are $25
💥 dogs are $50 (excluding any in the puppy room)

ALL ADOPTIONS INCLUDE:
- spay/neuter
- age and species-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, DHPP, FVRCP, bordetella)
- microchip

IN ADDITION: Thanks to PetSmart, we have adoption packs! Each adoption comes with a bag of food to transition your new pet from the shelter food, 3-8 months of flea preventative, a toy, a leash (dogs), and a commemorative Athenspets glass.

THE SHELTER IS FULL AND THERE ARE MORE THAN 100 ANIMALS IN FOSTER HOMES. We need YOUR HELP to find them their forever homes!

Athens-Clarke County Animal Services is an open admission municipal shelter. It accepts homeless, lost, and surrendered animals from local residents whether or not it has space, and RIGHT NOW IT DOES NOT HAVE SPACE. When there's no space and more animals come in, space needs to be made. This post and the adoption incentives above are one of our efforts to make space in a life-saving way. PLEASE HELP US HELP THEM BY SHARING, FOSTERING, ADOPTING, RESCUING!
