Thanksgiving is all about good food and gratitude, but some household favorites aren’t safe for pets.

🚫 Do not share: turkey bones, onions, garlic, grapes/raisins, chocolate, ham/ham bones, gravy, alcohol, and rich or fatty foods. Also, keep an eye out for any products containing xylitol!

✅ Safer treats: a small taste of plain turkey (no skin, no seasoning) or plain veggies like green beans and carrots (no seasoning, butter, onions or garlic).

We want to give a HUGE thank you for all that helped support in our food drive. Together with another local hospital we were able to completely fill the drop off bin at a local food bank and the volunteers were overwhelmed with gratitude. We are so grateful for all of our wonderful clients generosity!

Dear Clients,

Our team will be collecting canned goods and non-perishables for local food pantries. The times are becoming increasingly harder for many, some of you may even be effected. If you are looking for a way to give back, we will be collecting at our Hospital and dropping off for those in need. If you as a family are able to participate even if its even a few canned goods we would be so grateful to have your support. If you donate now through 11/15/2025 we will offer 10% off your exam fee as our way of saying thank you. This offer may not be combined with other exam discounts. We are blessed to have a loving community and again we are very grateful for all your support.

Our Story...

“Every idea and dream has a source of inspiration; Kathy Andrews is the heart and soul of The KAAWS Clinic. I first met Ms. Andrews as a client with Long Drive Dog and Cat Hospital in South Houston in 2000. Since 1993 she and her family were devoted to the rescue of many animals, including dogs, cats, cockatiels, and guinea pigs. She would care for each one as if they were her own and find homes for them with diligence and dedication. Ms. Andrews was a firm believer in the kindness of a humane end to prevent intolerable suffering, but she especially cherished the “old” and “ugly” throwaways that no one else wanted. She upheld the idea that every animal deserved an equal chance of life and spent her life ensuring that they were given that chance.

Ms. Andrews introduced me to the nonprofit side of veterinary medicine and opened my eyes to the possibilities of veterinary care for all people and their pets. I was fortunate to have worked with her briefly in 2007. In August of 2007 she was diagnosed with stage four metastasized lung cancer and died peacefully with her family around her on January 12, 2008. Her daughter, Amy Jones, found homes for all of her dogs and still receives updates from some of the new families. Her legacy lives on in her daughter who continues to work with nonprofit organizations and the rescue of animals.” --Dr. Renee Bazan, Founder of The KAAWS Clinic

Upon the success of KAAWS, we are happy to announce the opening of our second location. This location is dear to our hearts as it was formally our sister clinic, Aldine Westfield Animal Hospital. Aldine Westfield Animal Hospital was destroyed by Hurricane Harvey and suffered numerous damages. But every cloud has a silver lining. This story is no exception, as it opened the opportunity for us to salvage what was left and create a brand new clinic, The KAAWS Clinic at Aldine Westfield.
