We currently have some dove Angora, splash, tricolor, and black tan mice available. Will be in the Canonsburg, PA area tomorrow if anyone around there is interested.

**mouse pictured is not available but example of a splash fox (some of the splash may be that but I haven’t checked that closely). Can get pictures of available mice.

Our current ball pythons. These guys are NFS. We have a few of the females paired to different males (some owned by a close friend). Fingers crossed we get eggs eventually! I’m sure I’ll be adding another male soon enough.

If anyone messaged me about rats and is STILL looking, shoot me a message again if you’re still interested. I’m awful about seeing them on time on this page but will keep an eye out now. I have some that should be available really soon and can get you set up with same s*x pairs for pets or breeding sets. I’ve got some Rex, normal fur, dumbo, top ear, and multiple colors to choose from.

Because I’m nuts (I guess), we’re going to give African Soft Furs a shot! Just picked up a group today, and I’m sure we will have a few available in the future. The goal is to keep temperaments fairly tame (I know, difficult task), but I’m up for a good challenge. I know it -can- be done. These guys seem decent so far (no attempts to bite and far easier to pick up than some of the mice I’ve had) but I’m told they tend to get worse with age.

Our group consists of five females and one male. There’s one picture each of the girls, two at the end of the boy (who happens to be missing half an ear, so he looks a little goofy. Somehow didn’t notice it when I picked him but I don’t mind it 🤷🏻‍♀️. If I could guess he was just overgroomed as a baby). We picked up a few different colors to play with but if I’m being entirely honest I don’t know exactly what we have yet 😬.

I am in LOVE with this black tan pied buck. He’s one I did have available but decided I would find room to keep him. He’s massive and just a very nice looking mouse. He’s a splash carrier so can easily be taken back to my splash carriers or splash girls either one.

I will be vending as Shady Brook Rabbitry (and Exotics) at the Morgantown Exotic Animal And Reptile Expo this weekend with multiple mice & rats. Stop by and see me! My table will probably mostly be filled with rabbits (some of which aren’t available but will be there for showing people full grown versions of what I breed) but I promise I’ll have all the mice & rats that are available with me.

My two keepers from the most recent ‘somatic mutation’ litter. I’m probably still gonna call it mosaic the majority of the time.

1st is a black tan pied doe, with a recessive yellow spot. So that means she also carries recessive yellow (as well as splash), so I might be able to use her to make recessive yellow splashes!

2nd is also a black tan pied doe, but with a blue spot (unless I’m just nuts.. but it’s becoming more obvious with age).

I was trying to keep the somatic mutation line away from the splash, but I didn’t realize the dam was a mosaic til after she was bred by my splash buck 🤦🏻‍♀️. Oh well! Now I’ll embrace it.

Litter ready August 1st. All black tan or black tan pied. SPLASH/self/chocolate/C-locus recessive (I don’t know which of the C-locus recessive the sire has) carriers (solids carry pied too). There’s one possible mosaic (somatic mutation) in here. She has very little color and I’m not 100% on it so she won’t be staying.

Special thanks to Mousin’ Around Mousery for meeting me with these guys today! I only went to get males, but ended up coming home with a couple gorgeous females as well. Mouse math might just be worse than rabbit math but I don’t mind! 😬

The males we got are all black, with the potential to be merle or roan (which takes a little bit to come in). If they aren’t visual merle/roan, they have to carry it, which is still pretty cool.

The females are splash & what I’m going to go ahead and guess (I may be entirely wrong) is a blue point himalayan. She’s not quite pure white like a PEW/albino would be, and has dark ruby eyes. If I could guess it will just take a little while for her points to come in. I can see a smidge of color on her ears already, and I imagine she would be darker if she were black based.

I will try to take pictures of our current available litters today. They will not officially be ready to leave until August 1st-8th depending on what litter.

Hey guys! I changed the name of this page to Shady Brook Exotics as we are also getting into raising ball pythons, and the name covers basically anything else we could potentially get into. Our other page is Shady Brook Rabbitry as our main venture is rabbits. It’ll stay that way as two separate pages.

We currently have two female ball pythons that are hopefully gravid. Pairings are Albino x Mojave Vanilla and Spider x Mojave Vanilla. Nothing too spectacular, but it’ll give us a start for sure while we wait for our boy Pretzel to get to size.

Here are our current ball pythons.

We recently just made some upgrades that give us a lot more space for breeding these little guys (both mice & rats), so I feel I’ll probably be posting here a lot more often! We’ve already increased our amount of rat breeders, and have welcomed more colors such as Siamese, mink (I think), chocolate, etc. I need to look more into what we’ve got for sure. And with mice I’ll be increasing my mosaic numbers (I’m having more & more pop up in the litters and I plan to probably keep 4 does to 1 buck in that). In mice I’ll basically have the same colors, I plan to just keep more homebreds back & go from there.

I will have mice ready to go in a couple weeks from multiple litters. I don’t just have pedigrees written out for those guys, but I know the lineage enough (and which dams who came from) to put one together if needed.

Pictured: one of my little black tan pied mosaic does from a recent litter! She has a recessive yellow spot (and therefore definitely carries the gene for RY). I’ve been told the mouse world doesn’t call it mosaic but I’ve yet to figure out exactly what they call it. So for now I’ll stick to the rabbit terms.

We have a new color in mice we hope to introduce. Meet SAMSON, our splashed buck! With the addition of him, we will likely make several different varieties of splash, as well as maybe siamese, himalayan, stuff like that.

We do have a few female mice we can let go as well. I have:
3x black tan does (1 is undersized, pet only, super friendly)
1x lilac tan ANGORA doe
7x recessive yellow pied does (some carry Angora & Satin)

Those are all just about breeding age. Updated pictures upon request, the pictures I’ve provided may not be of that specific mouse and are several weeks old.

Long time no see! We have some new developments in the building.

Finally, after quite a while, we have rat babies again! These should be available at the end of the month.

And with that we’ve got a new color: ORANGE! Or as I’m pretty sure these are, Russian fawn. As well as more agouti, blue agouti, black, and blue. It looks like there may be some dumbo as well, which came with the addition of our Russian fawn dumbo doe, Peaches.

We will be attending the Morgantown Exotic Animal & Reptile Expo at the end of the month as well, so if you’d like to drop by and take a look in person, we’ll have these guys there.

The difference in normal and Satin coats.

It’s usually visible at a very early age, as soon as they get their fur in. It can for sure be more difficult on black-based mice, but if they’re pied, it becomes a bit easier in that their white portions will glow compared to those of normal-coated mice.

With me starting to throw possible Satin and Angora carriers together, I’m not sure how easy it’ll be to identify Satin Angoras. I may already have some in the current litters if I’m being honest, a couple are awfully shiny, but I hate to say for sure. I’m keeping one of the shinier Angora does and I’ll breed her to the Satin buck pictured to see if it’s just a trick of the light or if she’s truly Satin.

Absolutely loving the gorgeous variety we got in our older mouse litters ❤️. Blacks, black tans, dove pied Angoras, pink-eyed recessive yellow pied Angoras, chocolate tan Angoras, lilac tan Angoras, recessive yellow Angora, RY straw Angora, chocolate/chocolate tan pieds, lilac/lilac tan pied, recessive yellow pieds, RY straw pieds. I really love the warm tones of the chocolate/lilac/recessive yellow/straws (and of course the doves since they look similar to lilac).

I do have more younger mice litters and multiple rat litters currently. Will update on those once I can accurately tell color.

Our other two most recent mouse litters.

Shady Brook’s Pixie (lilac Angora) x Shady Brook’s Ghost (chocolate tan pied Angora) - these should be some variation of chocolate tan/lilac tan/recessive yellow/straw. There doesn’t appear to be any pieds but they have to carry pied/self/dilute, and all six will be Angora.

Shady Brook’s Honey (recessive yellow pied) x Shady Brook’s Ghost (chocolate tan pied Angora) - these will all be pied and carry Angora. Could be quite a bit of variation in color.

Shady Brook’s _____, recessive yellow pied Satin buck

This guy also needs a name. And I really LOVE how sharp his coloring is with the Satin coat. One one side he’s near-perfect banded but on the other it’s a super thin line. I’m hoping in keeping him and breeding him to the does it may improve banded markings, rather than me crossing to random pieds/pied carriers.

At some point I’ll add in new stock. But for now I’ll work with what I have.

Lemon, recessive yellow pied Satin doe

I really LOVE the look of Satins, and Lemon is behind every Satin/Satin carrier I’ve had here in awhile. She’s getting up there in age, so after this last litter with Lenny she’ll be seeking a retirement home with her buddy Cookie. She’s super sweet, and always climbs right up in my hand for attention.

Pixie has more of a medium hair length compared to our other Angoras. She currently has a litter on the ground by Ghost. They should all be Angora and it’s hard to tell what colors we may get out of them.

Shady Brook’s Honey, recessive yellow pied doe

Honey is one I kept to hopefully keep our banded attempts going. I started with poir banded and they’re still looking iffy, but I like the look so I plan on selectively breeding for better banded every generation.

She currently has a litter on the ground by Ghost. There could be some Angora in the litter but I’m unsure if Honey carries for the gene. There’s a possibility.

Lenny, dove pied Angora buck

Lenny will soon be looking for a retirement home, but for now he’s chilling out here with us. If you’d like to take Lenny home, let me know! He’s super sweet and curious. A little messy but most bucks tend to be.

Lenny has a litter on the ground out of Pearl, and is expecting litters out of Sunflower, Lemon, and Cookie. He has produced many babies for us already.

Shady Brook’s Pearl, blue tan doe

I think I really have a thing for blue tans, because every one I’ve produced I’ve loved to pieces. Pearl is no exception, and her personality is awesome as well.

She currently has a litter by Lenny. It’s too early to tell coloration yet but we should only get black, black tan, black pied, and black tan pied. We may not even get black/black pied.

Shady Brook’s Ghost, chocolate tan pied Angora buck

While it’s not really visible in these pictures, Ghost has a GORGEOUS long coat compared to our other Angoras. He’s super friendly and probably one of my favorites. We didn’t know his line carried Angora until he popped up!

Hey guys! I’m going to try to get this page properly up and running again, and I hope to post frequently. With that said, I’m going to be posting pictures of our current breeders here soon!

We are located in Hundred, WV. We will normally only meet in close proximity to Hundred if we are only meeting for mice/rats, unless it’s a larger quantity or we are also meeting people for rabbits. I will try to post when I plan to make trips farther than Morgantown area and I will gladly bring anything I have available with me if people are interested.
