I tried to get a cute video of the fawns…apparently I should have washed my hands first after feeding them their bottles.

06/15/2024

Apparently eating food can be a very challenging skill…

06/11/2024

I feed these little fellas all the time, and they still don’t appreciate my sense of humor!

06/08/2024

So before they are ready for release, squirrels need to be able to open an unshelled English walnut.
This is our spring babies’ first attempt to do so, and they all set to it with enthusiasm…though some are stumbling through the mechanics of this endeavor.
(I won’t name names…don’t want to make any of them self-conscious)
But presuming everyone stays on track, we should be ready for releases in the next few weeks!

06/04/2024

Though he’s just a baby field mouse, we’re still going to do all we can to give this little one the best shot possible—after all, a life is a life!

(His name is Stephen, and he’s been eating very well so far)

05/24/2024

“You got some schmutz on your face…hold on, let me get that for you…”

05/22/2024

A big THANK YOU to the Nanticoke Conservation Club for donating a whole lot of veggies today!
Everyone—our young squirrels in particular—is loving them!

05/21/2024

I feel so very peer pressured into refilling their food bowl…

05/13/2024

Ummm…
How do you know if an opossum is trying to flirt…?

05/12/2024

We’re still learning new things each day…very interested in how cell phones work

05/09/2024

On chilly days like today, fawns get to wear cute little outfits to help keep them warm.
(Which are just our dogs’ hand-me-downs from when they were pups)

Baby bunny giving himself a bath, then looking very proud of how good a job he did!

Fawn season has begun!

This little one came to us today, weighing just over 4 lbs.

Her name is Woofy.

Rest assured we will do our best to plump her up and make sure she grows up big and strong.

05/07/2024

Bella, who came to us as a tiny baby at the end of last August, finally got to experience freedom yesterday!

She wasn’t old enough to be on her own when the cold weather hit last winter, so she got stuck hanging out with us for a while.

But now, all grown up and ready to meet the world, Bella finally got released into the wild where she belongs.

Best of luck out there, Bella—we’ll miss you!!

The early spring batch of baby squirrels are ready to move on up to trying fruits!
The first honors went to Blueberry, who (somewhat ironically) got to enjoy a small slice of apple.

Things have been more busy than usual this Baby Season: Round 1.
The warm winter and early spring have us filled to the brim with babies, including this adorable family of 6 baby opossums.

04/30/2024

The baby bunnies’ eyes are starting to open…well, one of them at least so far.

Guess I’ll have to start dressing better for feedings now that they can see me—bunnies are notoriously judgy of fashion.

04/26/2024

These 4 baby bunnies arrived today. Their eyes aren’t open yet, but they have a lot of energy, as you can see—even if they don’t know where they’re going yet.

04/26/2024

The baby squirrels are starting to enjoy some veggies.
This is Blueberry munching away at some fresh peas.

04/21/2024

A quick, cute moment to brighten your day: a baby bunny having some dinner

Baby season means baby bunnies!

Poor little Warrior needed a flea bath when she came in.

While she was very tolerant, I don’t know that she exactly enjoyed the experience.

This is Warrior. She just arrived today. She is our 7th baby this season.Right now, she is being a ball.

This is Warrior.

She just arrived today.

She is our 7th baby this season.

Right now, she is being a ball.

Another successful release!

Little Bloodrage the Destroyer (an ironic name given so she will be tougher in the wild) came to us as a tiny baby in early September of last year.
The cold weather hit before she was fully grown and ready for release, so she got stuck hanging out with us all winter.
But now, with warm enough weather finally here, little Bloodrage is finally ready to begin her life in the wild!
Best of luck out there—you’ll be missed!

04/13/2024

Not that it’s a competition, but this morning Diamond was the first of the 6 baby squirrels we currently have to try solid food.

Congrats, Diamond—you’re leading the way!

The baby squirrels keep arriving!Say “hi” to Blueberry. He just got here today.

Poor little Maple lost about half of her tail, but she’s a good eater with a LOT of energy and attitude, so she’s not letting it get her down.

Maple and her brother Oak came to us a few days ago, babies #’s 4 and 5 on the season.

Poor Maple lost about half of her tail, but nonetheless they’re both doing well so far.
(As are Jake, Elwood, and Diamond!)

04/01/2024

Both Jake’s and Elwood’s eyes are open and they are getting excited to explore—it’s going to be time for a cage upgrade soon!

03/30/2024

We hit a milestone: Elwood opened one of his eyes for the first time today!
(Jake’s eyes are fluttering…he should follow soon)
