Hello!!

Let’s talk protective breeds shall we? Here we have a Cane Corso puppy who is already showing signs of caution. The signs this cute pup displayed was barking at strange noises, marking everywhere and an overall aura of slight paranoia. Guys, protective breeds are going to protect. Please take that into consideration before getting a working/guarding breed. These dogs will never be golden retrievers so let’s not place unfair expectations across different breeds. If you’re unwilling to learn how to co-exist with these breeds than they aren’t for you and you could be putting your friends, family and community in danger. It takes a lot of work for some of the protective breeds to “not” do their job even with a lot of work from the owner. This is not meant to be a negative post but I get calls all the time with people telling me they got a Cane Corso or a Shepard because they were cute. Bottom line folks really think about what kind of dog you want. If you would like a more social dog than go with the breeds that don’t have a protective disposition. .

To my Human Mums & Dads this is what happens to my paws when you take me out in the scorching sun ☀️ when the pavements are so hot ! Remember I sweat through my paws so in this heat I can’t get rid of my sweat as my paws are burning. Please let me just relax indoors and take me out when the sun is down !🥰

Hi! My name is Fenway and I am a big boy looking for a new home. I am a 6 year old German Shepherd who came in as a stray and am now in need of a new home. I am a strong boy who would benefit from someone who can handle me physically. I love to play and will bring the toys back to you to make sure you keep playing until I've had enough. I would do best in a home with older kids (16+ depending on the children) and no other pets. I prefer to be the star of attention! Hello everyone, my name is Kovu. I am a 5 year old Pitt mix. This is the second time that I have been staying with CPHS. They have always taken great care of me while I am here. I have not had much interest so I figured I would tell you a little bit about myself. I am excellent on a leash for walking, I can not live with any other animals, but I promise that you won't need them. The hardest thing for me, is being in a kennel environment. The staff always try new enrichment ideas for me, but I just have a hard time responding to any of them. I have terrible anxiety when I am in the kennel. So much so, that I spin around in circles constantly while barking and drooling. The staff have tried to put sheets up and give me some quiet time, but it only works so long for me. I do not act like this AT ALL, when outside of this environment. I am actually the complete opposite while someone is with me. I even got to visit some of the patients that were in the hospital for Christmas and everyone was telling me what a good boy I was and how I made so many people happy. But after that, I was brought back to that same kennel environment where I just seem to struggle. I really hope that someone can help me into a home. I am loyal, can be very laid back, and I can play if you want. I hope someone can come in and look for me, it may take a visit or two for me to get used to you, but once I do, I promise you'll take me home.

Oh sweet Baylor, We do not know why you keep being overlooked. You have been here since June 22nd and have not had any interest. You started having seizures during your time with us so you are on a daily medication to control that. We promise you, that you are safe with us until your family comes for you. I know you just want a couch to curl up on.

You may be selective on your canine friends and cannot live with cats but we will find you someone that fits those requirements. You do have an age limit and cannot live with small children but someday your time will come. We can promise you that!
