Are you and your pets ready in case of an emergency? September is National Preparedness Month — a perfect time to make sure you have a plan in place for animals of all sizes. In events like fires, earthquakes, floods or other disasters, the best way to keep your pets safe is to plan ahead.

Create an emergency kit with at least two weeks’ worth of essentials, and practice loading your pets into carriers or trailers so they’re comfortable and less stressed if you need to evacuate. If an evacuation becomes necessary, leave immediately and always take your pets with you.
