As 2024 comes to a close, we want to take a moment to thank everyone who’s been a part of our journey this year. From the wonderful dogs we’ve worked with to the dedicated owners who trust us to help their pups grow, we are truly grateful. Your support and commitment make what we do so rewarding, and we’re honored to be a part of your lives.

Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited for the new challenges, successes, and, of course, wagging tails. Here’s to another year of building stronger bonds, happy homes, and well-behaved pups!

🎓🐾 Congratulations, Jade! 🐾🎓

We are BEYOND PROUD to announce that Jade has officially graduated from our Top Dog training program! From the moment we first met her, Jade’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring.

When she started, Jade was glued to the couch, overwhelmed by fear and anxiety. Fast forward to today, and she’s a completely transformed dog—full of confidence and joy. Now, Jade greets guests at the door, happily accepts (and even asks for!) pets, hits her hand targets like a pro, and continues to build her bravery every day.

This transformation wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible dedication of Jade’s parents. Their love, patience, and hard work have made all the difference, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything they’ve accomplished together. ❤️

📣 Big News! 📣

After many amazing walks, wagging tails, and wonderful training sessions here in Des Moines, we’re officially on the move—to the Metro Detroit area!

We’ve absolutely loved working with all the incredible pups and their humans here in Iowa, and we’re so grateful for the support and love you’ve shown Barkology. 🐾❤️ But now, it’s time for a new adventure in Michigan!

We’re beyond excited to bring our passion for positive reinforcement dog training to the Motor City. Get ready, Detroit—Barkology is coming your way, and we can’t wait to meet all the good dogs in town!

Congratulations to Anubis and his dad for graduating from our Top Dog Program! 🎓🐾 Over the past few months, they’ve worked hard on loose leash walking, dog reactivity, meet and greets, and basic manners. Anubis is now a polite and patient pup, and best of all, he can finally enjoy runs with his dad without dragging him down the street—their favorite activity!

Beau is enjoying this beautiful evening at the park while working on his engagement and focus in a high-distraction environment.

Training in real-world settings is key to helping dogs like Beau stay attentive, even with so much going on around them. By practicing in different environments, we’re building his ability to listen and respond, no matter what distractions come his way!

Consistent practice and positive reinforcement are the building blocks of a well-mannered, confident dog. Keep up the great work, Beau! 🐾💪

Training takes time, and progress might seem slow sometimes, but it’s always worth celebrating! Miss Jade started out with a lot of fear and anxiety, but we’re thrilled to see her growing more confident and curious with each lesson. It’s important to celebrate all milestones, big or small—even her increased comfort around her trainers or finding a new toy that she loves and that can help her decompress. Tonight at Walker Johnston Park, Beau showed incredible progress with his loose leash walking and reactivity. Amidst all the hustle and bustle, he stayed cool, calm, and checked in with his dad regularly. Proud trainer moment! Keep up the great work, Beau! 🎉

Vet visits can be stressful for our pups, but with a little preparation, we can make the experience much more enjoyable! Here’s how we ensure Oliver’s visits are positive experiences:

Lick Mat or Enrichment Toy: We always bring a lick mat or another favorite toy to keep Oliver entertained and relaxed while we wait.

Favorite Snacks: Treats are a must! We pack his favorite snacks to reward him and share with the vet.

Fear-Free Vet: Choosing a fear-free vet makes a world of difference. Their patient approach and calming environment help reduce anxiety and stress for both Oliver and us.

Bonus Tip: Schedule “Happy Vet Visits”! These are non-medical visits where you take your dog to the vet, give them treats, their favorite plushie or an enrichment toy, and let them explore. This helps create positive associations and makes them feel more comfortable in the space.

Remember, a happy vet visit today leads to a healthier, happier pup tomorrow! 🐶💕
