Maude found her happily ever after! 💜

We need these happy stories to help keep us going. Rescue can be so full of tears, frustration, and heartbreak. We advocate for spay/neuter laws and still see unwanted litter after litter. We help as many dogs as we can but have to say 'no' to others every single day. The emotional toll is harder than the physical work most days.

And then we see the happiest update, like Maude's story! Rescue work is ultimately about hope. We do the best we can for the dogs that we can help and HOPE they are adopted by the best family for them. Thank you, The Crossings Animal Society for helping with Maude. We can tell she is so loved.

𝗠𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗲'𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴

About two months ago, we provided an update on Maude, a sweet lab mix who’d undergone exploratory surgery for a fractured and dislocated pelvis—surgery that your generosity helped to pay for. At that time, Maude was recovering following her surgery. The plan was for her to remain on bed rest for a month (cared for at the home of Luna Farms Director Stephanie Jordan and her husband, Patrick) and then begin physical therapy. Thankfully, she was expected to make a full recovery.

Maude made significant progress, so we posted her on pet adoption sites and brought her up to PA. As we awaited responses, a local family offered to foster Maude until she found her forever home.

Just 48 hours after her foster family picked her up, that magical moment occurred. We received an email from the foster dad, saying, “My wife informs me that she wants Maude to stay here forever.”

It seems that they’ve already gotten into some new routines…such as their toddler reading Maude a bedtime story every night (picture above). What a fitting custom, as this beautiful soul has such a compelling story.

Maude has now realized her happily ever after.

🚐🐾 Off to New Beginnings! 🏡💛

This week, 10 of our amazing dogs packed their bags (okay, just their wagging tails) and hit the road to their forever homes! From the rolling hills of Marshall County to the busy kennels of Athens and Huntsville Animal Services, these pups started their journey in places where love was abundant, but resources were stretched thin.

But here’s the thing—we’re not just moving dogs. We’re healing communities.

In Marshall County, we helped a family spay and neuter their pets, ensuring the cycle of unwanted litters stops before it starts. That’s how real change happens—not just by finding homes for today’s dogs, but by preventing tomorrow’s heartbreak.💙

Rescue isn’t just about saving dogs. It’s about lifting up people, building bridges, and making sure every tail has a happy ending. Thank you to everyone who fosters, transports, donates, and cheers these pups on. You are part of the solution. Thank to all of the veterinarians and their teams for helping our rescued animals.

We urgently need your help to raise $2,500 for a sweet little puppy named Riya! 🚨

Riyah, whose name means "brave" and "warrior," is a 3-month-old puppy that was rescued with literally minutes to spare. This tiny puppy suffered a brutal attack by a larger dog. She was shaken and left with severe puncture wounds all over her chest plus a badly fractured front leg.

Thanks to Barry, who piloted a Pilots N Paws flight, she made it to safety but she still needs extensive medical care to heal. ✈

Here's Riyah’s journey so far:

⚫Her leg was splinted, and she’s been on antibiotics to treat the infected wounds.
⚫She’s been seeing Dr. Reid Pearlman at North Alabama Veterinary Orthopedics every 7-10 days for check-ups to monitor her leg’s healing and assess if surgery will be needed.
⚫Despite everything, Riyah is a rockstar! She showered her foster mom with kisses at her vet visit, and she’s full of life, love, and joy!
⚫Her first break is healing, and her wounds are nearly closed. She’s eager to get back to playing and running, but we need to keep her leg protected to ensure she fully heals.

Riyah has an incredible spirit in such a little body. She adores everyone and every dog she meets. But she needs your help to fully recover and have a happy, healthy life. 🏡

Transport Time! 28 dogs of all breeds and sizes have safely arrived up north! 🚚

Thank you to the hard working people who volunteer their time to get these animals to safety.💗 From the transport team to the foster families, the paperwork people, the schedulers, every rescue partner, the shelter workers, and everyone else who made this possible- we are incredibly grateful for your support.

We're sad to see our foster pups go but SO happy that they have a second chance at life! Special thanks to Hood's Pet Express LLC for giving food/water updates and arrival times as you transport.

Tiny dog alert! Linus may only be 3.8lbs at 3 months old, but he's already a huge fan of running, playing, and making new friends. ❤️🐶

March 14th is Pi Day, so we had to feature this 'cutie pie' today! We're guessing he's a chihuahua/Pekingese mix but only a DNA test can be sure.

🐱Clawdeen– loves to play with her cat friends and snuggle up to her foster mama when she’s tired.
🐱Pepper– has a funny personality and is playful and mischievous when she's feeling frisky. She loves the printer.
🐱Clove– can be shy at first, but loves to play with ribbon toys and eat wet food.
🐱Cinnamon– loves to play and drink out of the bathroom faucet, and would love to be adopted into a house with another cat to help him feel more confident.
🐱Fig– is still a little shy, so he will need an owner with patience and another confident cat that can bring him out of his shell.

This week alone, we’ve taken in a total of 20 puppies from Marshall County. Each one has a story- many were from unwanted litters while some were found after being dumped in a ditch.

These sweet pups are too young to fend for themselves and we're extremely thankful to the community who rescued them. Luckily, they were found just in time and brought to safety, where they will be cared for until they are adopted.🏡

Then we were contacted by another family in need of help. They had an unwanted litter of puppies and it was clear that the situation was overwhelming. Four puppies here, six puppies there, plus another ten and we are suddenly up 20 puppies in just one week. 😳

The truth is, we couldn’t do this alone. The help from our local community has been invaluable in rescuing and caring for these puppies. These puppies all have a new chance at life. And don't worry; we will ensure that all dog parents are altered so the cycle ends here! 💗
