And they’re off! Six pets hopped a ride with Safe Haven transport yesterday to make their way to northern rescues in New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. 🚚 Passengers included a pregnant dog, two adults, an older puppy, and two younger puppies.

Motley Mutts Rescue and Luna Farms Rescue-PA KL 18648 helped make it possible to get these dogs out of shelters and off the streets. They were given a second chance to find amazing families who will love them for the rest of their lives! 🐕🐾

We are beyond grateful for everyone who had a hand in their rescue- our wonderful foster homes, the volunteers willing to transport to partnering rescues, and shelter workers from Florence Lauderdale Animal Services and Athens Limestone Animal Services. 💗

Meet Benny Clark, the 2 year old canine explorer! His foster mom says he is just like Dug from the the Disney-Pixar movie, Up. 🎈🏠

Benny Clark may not have a talking device on his collar but he is playful, loveable, and friendly, He is excited about life but even more excited about any and every person he meets! 🐶

Benny loves hugs, belly rubs, eating, sleeping in his crate, and other dogs. He is doing well using a doggie door and has not had any accidents inside. Adopt Benny Clark today and he will show you that he is "up" for the adventure of a lifetime! 🌍

You might be familiar with the Rainbow Bridge poem if you have ever lost a pet. It paints a nice picture of where our pets go after they pass and say their goodbyes here on earth. 🌞🌳🌸

Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, so we would like to take a moment to remember all those good girls and boys who are no longer with us. 🐾💜

We appreciate our teen volunteers! We had a group come out to the farm to give our pups a special spa day. 🛁🐾The dogs loved all the extra attention.

One of our fosters teaches AP Biology and some of her students showed an interest in helping out. The girls will eventually need volunteer hours to join the National Honor Society, but that isn’t why they did it. 🌟This was just a bonus and they had so much fun!

Thank you to the crew for showing compassion and dedication to our foster animals. Their hard work made a huge difference. We will welcome this group out any time! 🐶💕

Kristina is a realtor in AL who gives her clients an awesome gift when they close on a house. 🏡They get a donation check for one of two organizations and we are thrilled when her clients choose Luna Farms Rescue!

The contributions go into our 'Community Spay and Neuter' fund. Just this week we were able to spay three females and neuter six males! We were also able to save some puppies; they will be altered when they are old enough. 🐶❤️

These donations are vital to saving hundreds (or even thousands) of lives each year. This is a game-changer in our mission to reduce overcrowding in shelters and get unwanted or abandoned animals off the streets. We are so grateful for the support.🐾

This week was a HUGE transport week for us! We had 8 animals leave yesterday. Then 20 more left this afternoon on Hood's Pet Express LLC . We even had a few kittens this week! 🐾🚛

Pups came from Huntsville Animal Services, Florence, and Athens. We also helped with several unwanted/accidental Madison County litters. We were able to spay the moms and return them to their owners thanks to the community support! 🐶✨

As always - we couldn’t do it without our volunteers that come in all forms. We have communication support, paperwork gurus (both in print and online), foster homes, transporters, and countless other volunteers and helpers along the way. Everybody's support made these journeys possible.

While we know we can't save them all, Luna Farms Rescue is proud of every rescue and adoption we help facilitate. 💕 Together, we can continue to give a second chance to these sweet animals!

Corky is a tiny black dog with big pointy ears and an even bigger personality. Despite his small size, Corky is full of s***k and always ready for an adventure. 🧭

He is a bundle of energy who loves to play, but is also a sweet cuddle bug when it’s time to relax. 🦴 Corky gets along great with other pets and has a gentle, friendly personality that makes him a joy to be around.

Luna Farms Rescue does not have a boarding facility so we rely on volunteers (foster homes) to help get dogs out of shelters and off the streets. Our animals need a temporary home while they get ready to be adopted. That means the more people we having willing to open their homes to foster animals, the more dogs and cats we can save. 🐶🐱

Responsibilities of a foster:
🐾provide a safe, clean, and loving environment
🐾monitor animal for medical or behavioral needs
🐾possibly transport to/from vet appointments
🐾try to get quality photos and fun info for a bio to help get them adopted

What we provide:

❤️grooming/medical expenses as needed
❤️mentoring and support for YOU!

Hey, everyone! 🌟

We’ve got 15 incredible dogs looking for their forever families, and we need YOUR help to make it happen. Luna Farms Rescue does not have a boarding facility, so all of our rescue animals are in foster homes. 🏠 Many of our foster homes have other dogs that are waiting on transport, so we are at capacity!

We introduced four new rescues last week; Trooper is the adorable and loving puppy who had to have exploratory surgery on his bowels. You could say he was feeling a little melon-choly! 🍉🐶

Luckily, he did not have a blockage and is back to feeling like his normal self. He is sweet, playful, and happy. Trooper even got to snack on a little watermelon as a special treat. 💖

The good luck continues because our Luna Farms Rescue hub in PA is transporting him up north at the end of this month. Every dog deserves a chance and we're happy we were able to help Trooper. We know he will have a wonderful life full of treats and belly rubs in his new home! 🏡

We asked Cooper's foster mom to tell us all about this good boy. Cooper is a 3-4 year old lab mix. 🐶 Here is what she had to say:

Hey, everyone! Meet Cooper! I’ve been fostering Cooper since August of 2023. He came to me with a buddy after being picked up wandering along the highway in Albertville in a TJ Maxx parking lot. His buddy has since been adopted but we have seen very little interested in this poor guy.

A bit about Cooper:

Cooper thrives in a calm setting where he can be your shadow. He very much enjoys sleeping at my feet while I'm at work, or quietly chewing his toys. He loves to rest his head in my lap to get head pats and ear rubs. He loves toys that squeak and make crinkle noises as well as rope toys to play tug with! 💕

He's very gentle taking treats and toys from his human friends. Cooper does well around cats but is reactive around unfamiliar dogs and needs slow introductions to become comfortable. He prefers female dog companions or being the only dog. Cooper tends to bark at new people and dogs from a distance but warms up when he gets a chance to meet them. 🐕❤️

Cooper is fully house trained and crate trained. He has not had a single accident since he's been here. We are still learning to walk on a leash but he is doing very well! He checks in regularly to make sure you're seeing all the amazing things to smell. He will pull if he’s very excited. Cooper will need to be on a leash or tether when outside unless in a secure fenced yard as he does not have the best off-leash recall.

We had a huge transport earlier this week- 23 pets were fostered, vetted, fed and cared for, then driven to meet the transport trucks. 💗 We even had a few cats this time!

People showed up for these animals in so many different ways. 🐾 We had volunteers opening up their homes to foster. They loved the pups and treated them like their own. We received donations of puppy food, towels, and potty pads; these go directly to our rescued animals. We had drivers take these babies to and from their vet appointments as they made sure everyone arrived safely. 🚗 Some people fulfilled several of these roles!

Thank you to our incredible volunteers, shelters, rescue partners, and supporters! We appreciate your passion and commitment to giving these animals a second chance. Happy Tails!

Do you like to relax, eat snacks, and cuddle? 🙋🏻‍♀️ We have the perfect dogs for you! Maggie and Mollie are awesome 2.5-year-old black lab sisters who embody the art of relaxation. 🧘🏽

These girls are mostly couch potatoes. They are very interested in snacking and snuggling, making them best suited for a laid-back lifestyle. Maggie is probably the more outgoing of the two, and is always up for a gentle adventure or a new friend. 🐶

Mollie, a touch more introverted in comparison to her sister, prefers to take her time warming up but is equally affectionate once she’s settled. ❤️

Both dogs are very well-mannered and truly deserving of the royal treatment. If you want to kick back and relax with your pet, consider adopting one of these gorgeous girls. Mollie and Maggie are ready to become your best friends (and get cozy on your couch)!

Thank you to realtor Kristina Bass for a $1250 donation that is for our 'Spay and Neuter fund'! 🎉 We are incredibly grateful.

As much as we all love puppies and kittens, those funds will ensure that more then 10 rescued animals DO NOT reproduce. 🐾

This is essential for controlling the unwanted pet population, preventing our shelters and rescues from becoming even more overwhelmed and overcrowded, and reducing the number of strays in the neighborhoods.

New week, new faces- let's welcome these four dogs to Luna Farms Rescue! Each of these precious faces has a unique story that led them to us, and we’re honored to be part of their journey.

🌟 Trooper- 2.5 month old male- the young border collie pup who had exploratory surgery bc they thought he a blockage but thankfully it wasn’t.

🌟 Molly and Maggie- 2 year old females- our black lab sisters! Due to her sister’s death, their owner has had to take in and raise her nephew. He is severely allergic to dogs so she’s having to heartbreakingly give them up.

🌟 Benny- 2 year old male- the cattle dog who was beaten for chasing chickens, then dumped and ended up at an overcrowded shelter. He has scars that are healing on his side from his trauma.

So many stories behind how these new faces made their way into our rescue; we often intake dogs and don't know any information about them. All we know is we will love and care for them to help make a positive difference in their lives.

Our spirited and adventurous pup, Ares, is turning ONE tomorrow! Be sure to check our page tomorrow afternoon because we are celebrating this good boy in style! 🐾🎉🎂

🌟 Past: 3 siblings arrived at Luna Farms Rescue in March. Two of the dogs have since moved on but Ares is still in our care. While we are SO thankful that he is safe in a loving foster home, we know that he would really thrive in his forever home.

🌟 Present: Ares is curious and loves exploring new places. Just ask his foster mom about the time he found a turtle. Or a snake. And the skunk! He wants to engage in playful scuffles with dogs of all ages.

Five little puppies were cleared to go on transport this week! 🚐 They will travel from Luna Farms Rescue in AL to Animal Rescue of New England in MA.

Did you know that different states have different laws for animals? Before these pups can hit the open road, they had to make a little detour first. Volunteers took Franklin, Francesca, Forrest, Frederick, and Faith to the vet for health certificates. 🐾

This ensures that all imported/exported animals are healthy, free of any infectious or transmissible diseases, and ready for their next adventure. We could not be more excited that these babies are one step closer to their furever families! ❤️🌟

CiCi and Mary aren't just trying to have another spa day! 🛁 We use towels for bathing, drying, bedding, cleaning, comfort, transport, and even puppy births. We accept new or used towels.

Luna Farms Rescue provides dog food to all of our rescued animals. You know puppies eat several times a day and we often intake dogs that need to gain weight. 🐶❤️

Febe has such an inspiring story! She was found wandering the Mississippi Natchez trace with one single baby in tow. Beatrice (the baby) got transported in March.

Febe needed a little time to trust humans and learn that they can be nice. Febe loves to rest in her corner spot on the couch. She has new dogs of all sizes and ages coming in and out of her foster home! 🐾 She will give them a friendly bark and settle down.

Once Febe knows and trusts you, she is yours. She is potty trained! ❤️Febe is doing well on a leash thanks to the patience her foster mom has shown her; to be fair, Febe really just likes to veg, eat, and sleep. She likes to be loved on but is not needy about it.

July was a busy month for Luna Farms Rescue! We were able to save playful puppies, sweet seniors, and all ages in between. 🐾

🚐 Successful Transports: we were able to send 56 dogs up north on the transport trucks. These pups are now one step closer to their 'happily ever afters'!

🏡 Heartwarming Adoptions: there were 4 local adoptions, and many of the dogs that were transported have already found their forever homes!

🏥 Loss: we sadly had three puppies pass away due to illness.

Despite our losses (and the fact that adoptions typically slow down over the summer) we are proud of what we have accomplished. Do you remember Thelma and Louise, the young dogs that were found abandoned in a field? Thelma had puppies and Aunt Louise helped take care of them. We are thrilled to share that Louise was one of the dogs that was adopted! ❤️These girls went from living in the fields to snuggling in beds. Their foster mom truly saved their lives.

These success stories wouldn't be possible without the amazing support from our volunteers, fosters, and partners. Your generosity and dedication make it possible for us to continue our mission of saving and vetting dogs in need.

It's already back-to-school time in the south! We hope all of the students and teachers have a wonderful first day of school. 🚍📚✏️

We have 19 star pupils of our own that would have no problem being the 'teacher's pet'. They would love to graduate from foster dog to adopted dog! 🎓 Our rescued dogs just need the chance to learn, grow, and thrive in a loving environment.

We had a special delivery from some very special Girl Scouts today! Thank you to Troop 21209 for the amazing donations. We are beyond grateful. 🎉

These Cadettes planned and built dog beds for our foster pups as part of their Silver Award. We can tell they put a lot of hard work and care into this project. Our new rescue puppies (Franklin, Frederick, Forrest, Faith, and Francesca) were so excited to check out the beds! 🐶❤️
