Ever wondered why your go-to remedy of water or tomato juice for skunk spray seems to fail? Surprisingly, these methods can make the odor even worse! Before you take action, learn about the best ways to handle this smelly situation: 🦨💨

Why Not Water or Tomato Juice❓️

Skunk spray contains oily compounds called thiols, which are responsible for the awful smell. Using water can spread these oils deeper into your dog’s fur and skin, making the odor even harder to remove. Tomato juice, on the other hand, doesn't neutralize the chemical compounds responsible for the odor. While it may mask the odor temporarily due to its strong scent, it doesn't break down or remove the thiols. Therefore, the underlying skunk smell remains.

What to Do Instead:

🐶 Keep Your Dog Outside: Prevent the smell from spreading indoors by keeping your dog outside or in a well-ventilated area.

🥊 Protect Yourself: Wear gloves and old clothes to avoid getting the skunk smell on yourself.

📞 Call me! Your local groomer to help get the smell out with my skunk smell solution, skunk shampoo and to give your pup a good scrub! 🫧

🧴You can also opt to use a Homemade Solution if the groomers isn't a option:
- Ingredients:
- 1 quart (4 cups) of 3% hydrogen peroxide
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1-2 teaspoons of liquid dish soap

📝Instructions:
- Mix the ingredients in an open container (do not store the mixture as it can become unstable).
- Apply the solution to your dog’s dry fur, working it in thoroughly, but avoiding the eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, then rinse with warm water. If the smell persists, you can repeat the process.
-Shampoo: After the solution treatment, you can follow up with a regular dog shampoo to help remove any remaining odor and keep your dog’s coat healthy.

🐾 Important Announcement for My Clients 🐾

Hello Everyone,

Due to increase in requests for deshedding, blowouts, and full service grooming of double coat pets, like German Shepards, huskies, and similar breeds, these appointments will now be offered exclusivey at my home salon location.

Performing deshedding services in clients' homes has presented challenges in cleanup due to the extensive mess that can occur. When using a high-velocity dryer during grooming, loose fur can fly everywhere and settle on any surface, including ceilings, floors, vents, and move under doors to other rooms, making it difficult and time-consuming to restore the environment to its original condition upon arrival.

This process not only disrupts the flow of appointments but also takes valuable time away from other clients and their pets, as I typically only provide basic cleaning services to return the space to its initial state.

Deshedding is a specialized grooming service aimed at reducing shedding, prevention of mats and tangles, and maintaining coat health. By centralizing these appointments at my salon, I can provide a more efficient and focused service while ensuring a clean and comfortable environment for all clients and pets.

If you prefer to have a deshedding appointment in your home, I'm happy to accommodate this request. However, please note that a liability waiver will be required.

I appreciate your understanding and support as I make these adjustments to enhance the quality and efficiency of my services for all cleints. My goal is to continue providing excellent grooming experiences for your beloved pets while ensuring a smooth scheduling process for everyone.
