**CHANGE TO SATURDAY CLASSES START DATE**

Good evening everyone,

I hope this message finds you warm and safe. The weather and roads have been extremely unpredictable the past few days.

We are scheduled to start classes this Saturday, the 11th, but unfortunately, my parking lot is covered in snow and ice. Since it’s gravel, snow removal is challenging, and I couldn’t make it up the small incline at the entrance even in a 4WD.

Friday and Saturday are expected to be even colder with the possibility of more snow, so for the safety of all our students we have decided to push the start date back to Saturday, January 18th.

I will send out another email next week with the necessary information, including what to bring and directions to the facility.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused, but I believe it’s better to err on the side of caution, especially considering the potential for further adverse weather conditions and the uphill route to my facility in both directions.

So, your dog absolutely LOVES Utility and it’s his first weekend out competing in that class.
He might get a little bit excited and trill and have difficulty containing how fun he thinks it is! I absolutely adore him and how much he loves to work. We will bet there, he’s so close to putting it all together.
Think he knew he was being videoed? LOL
I was teasing him at the end of signal heeling.
I had a lot of fun, he definitely did!

I never require my dogs to interact with other dogs. I require that we can be out and about and not act like a twit around other dogs as we pass or if I stop and talk.

DON’T FORCE ME TO BE SOCIAL!
It may be really disappointing and frustrating when our dogs are not the social beings we expected them to be.

Many believe dogs should just naturally get along with other dogs, after all they’re the same species.

Some believe the “unsociable” dog has a behaviour problem that needs to be “fixed”.

Early, appropriately timed and correct socialisation is vitally important, but sometimes despite all of this, some dogs are just not that sociable.

Sometimes this can be improved, especially if the cause is from a negative experience, but genetics, breed tendencies, individual personalities, health and age all contribute to tolerance and sociability, which also change throughout life.

If we, as a human species, don’t get along with everyone we meet, how can we expect our dogs to?

Do we label every person that has an argument, doesn’t make friends with everyone they meet, doesn’t like every other person, prefers not to socialise - as having a problem that needs to be fixed?

Why is it so easy to accept that every individual person is different than to accept that every individual dog is different?

When we have done what we can to improve our dogs’ social skills, we need to accept and acknowledge our dogs for the individuals they are, allow and respect their choice of whether to be sociable or not and never force interactions that a dog is not comfortable with.
