Reynn and I put a pretty little bow on the final show of the season on Saturday, and what a season it has been! I am so blessed to have this hunk of a horse to take care of me. If you would have told me 3.5 years ago that I would own and be showing a Metallic Cat/Dual Rey stallion in the cutting, I would have laughed and asked what you've been smoking.
Somehow I managed to put that fear and those doubts behind me and make it through my first season of showing EVER! The journey was sprinkled with low points here and there but overall we saw many more moments of success and learned so much along the way.
My biggest takeaway this season?
DO IT ANYWAY!
No trainer to help coach or tune your horse?
DO IT ANYWAY!
Not a single cow around to practice coming out of the herd?
DO IT ANYWAY!
Nerves so bad you think you're going to either puke or poop yourself?
DO IT ANYWAY!
People trash talking a little too loud?
DO. IT. ANYWAY!
You'll never know what you can achieve unless you give it a shot, and man am I glad I did!

Reynn hadn’t seen cows since our last show two months ago, so we were thankful to get on a few before this weekend’s show! I have to say, I think the used cattle classes this weekend threw some of the most difficult runs we’ve ever had our way. No high scores, but we still managed to bring home some first place money to add to Reynn’s earnings.
This horse works so hard and has truly EARNED every penny he brings home in these tricky cattle classes!

Last weekend’s show was full of pilot errors including more than one hot quits, but despite his human, Reynn always wants to work! ☔️
I wasn’t able to practice like I normally would leading up to this show. The whole family had been sicker than snot for a week, Reynn had three outside mares to cover within 5 days of the show, and mom life with two little boys on two separate baseball teams made our schedules hectic (that’s an understatement). I was stressed out of my mind going in to this show, worried about what riding a stallion this deep in breeding season would be like… he even had to cover a mare before we left for the show. Thinking about all the cycling mares we would soon have to ride through woke me more than once in the middle of the night. But we are learning to find our groove and take the positive as it comes.
I didn’t ride well. My legs were pretty much non-existent. Did we score anything decent? NOPE! But for the first time in our limited show career I was able to walk away from a poor run without excessively beating myself up. I didn’t win in the cutting pen. We found our win in the warmup pen where most didn’t know I was riding a stallion because he held himself together so well. He was a complete gentleman, showing off his mental ability like a pro. I was proud of us and THAT felt like a huge win.
Find the light and focus on it. Every step of this journey presents a new lesson to be learned. #foreverastudent

Always room for improvement, but steadily making progress! We shook the dust off with our first show of the season in Vaughn yesterday. Metallic Reynn and I took 2nd with .5 off the win in the $5,000 Novice Horse Non Pro and 2nd in the $500 limit rider class as well! Reynn added some more money to those earnings! 🙌🏼
