Sonja is a 4 month old Pyrenees collie mix. Sonja currently weighs 25lbs and is expected to be a BIG girl. Sonja has stunning markings, with cute, speckled feet. She was confiscated in an abuse case with her litter mate and came to rescue for assessment. She has done great and is currently in a foster home with children and other animals and has done fabulously. Sonja believes she should be a lap dog, despite her size, and loves submersing herself into the family lifestyle. She has also been introduced to livestock and did well. Sonja is very cuddly and loves to be with her person. She also is independent and likes being outside romping around with the other dogs. Sonja is a baby still and needs dedication and training. Sonja is learning the ropes regarding being in a home and is starting the basics of potty training. Sonja does well in her crate and sleeps through the night. Sonja appears to be true to her Pyrenees breed and is alert to her surroundings. Sonja would make a great winter companion! Sonja is currently spayed, UTD on vaccines, microchip, and dewormed. Homeownership and a fenced yard are preferred. This rescue will not adopt out to individuals with unaltered domestic pets.

💚💚$$FIVE$$ FRIDAY!!💚💚 Help us support the continued care of all the animals at our rescue, like Hagen. After a dedicated team saw Hagen and his partner running loose they spent two weeks using all their resources to finally capture this little guy. He’s now at rescue and doing great work with socialization and loves being the ambassador of greeting the new dogs that come into rescue. He will be ready for his forever home in the next few weeks!
We appreciate everyone’s donations to our small foster based rescue and can’t be more grateful for your continued support.

Wiley is a special boy, we know they all say that, but in this case, it couldn’t hold more to the truth. Wiley is about a year old and has spent the last few months in rescue learning how to be a dog again. Wiley comes across as very timid and docile. He still gets nervous/excited bladder when interacting with new people. It is clear Wiley did not have a good start and was most likely physically abused, so patience and understanding of Wiley is a must as he is very sensitive. Wiley was dumped and living on his own for many months before a good Samaritan contacted the rescue with a desperate plea to trap Wiley. The rescue trapped Wiley, and he then took on the new challenge of learning how to be a dog again. We encourage you to watch the video posted on Wiley’s Petfinder or our social media as it truly depicts his challenges and what he overcame to be the lovebug he is today. Wiley is very affectionate with his people. With the winter months fast approaching he could be your personal heater in the bed. Wiley is learning social ques and basic commands. He can walk on a leash and can kennel. He loves to run around outside and would make an excellent agility dog. Wiley is very smart and would be easily trainable. Wiley has done well with all dog introductions and tends to be a beta and more passive with other dogs. Wiley is neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and dewormed. Homeownership and tall fencing are preferred. This rescue will not adopt out to individuals with unaltered domestic pets.

Any dog moms out there?!?!?!?!? Sugar, who I affectionately call Gisele due to her long slender legs, is looking for you! Sugar is a 2-3 year old chihuahua mix, around 8lbs. Sugar would love to be the baby as she has perfected curling up in your lap. This girl has had a rough go and was tossed out like garbage in the middle of nowhere. This girl is a fighter and is learning that people are not all bad, and in fact, she actually likes the attention. Sugar can be slow to warm up, but due to her past who could blame her. She was abandoned with another pup, Hagen who is at the rescue looking for his home as well, adopting as a pair is favored, but is not needed for Sugar. Sugar is spayed, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and dewormed. Homeownership and fenced yard are preferred. This rescue will not adopt out to individuals who have unaltered domestic pets. Adoption fee is $350.

A LETTER FROM YOUR NEW DOG

I am so happy that we have decided to adopt each other. My life before rescue was full of uncertainty. In rescue, I have been learning that people can be gentle and kind leaders. I really need guidance. If you won't be the leader, I will take over but I'll do a terrible job. I need to learn that you will protect me, feed me, exercise me and teach me the rules of our home.

For the first two weeks, I will be excited and a bit overwhelmed. You may want to take me to meet all of your friends, show me where you work, take me shopping for clothes, collars, dog beds, treats and anything else my heart desires but PLEASE DON'T. It's an awful lot for me to process all at once.

What I really need is to get to know my new home and family. And please, somebody show me who is in charge!! Lead me gently but don't pick me up and carry me if I freeze and stop moving. Luring me with treats is never a wrong strategy. Where is the bathroom? The corner of this thing that you sit on? The carpet behind your chair? I need my family to show me this stuff or I'll just have to guess. Don't be mad at me if I guess wrong. My old bathroom was in the back yard but I'm too far away from it now. Show me where to go and praise me when I use it.

Food! I love food. I probably didn't get enough for awhile. So, do I get regular meals from you or should I just take the stuff that is up on the counter? Or on your plate? Do we share that stuff? I would like it if I could have breakfast and dinner in my kennel. Just a quiet meal where I don't have to worry about anyone taking it from me.

I have a bit of extra energy because I'm a little nervous and uncertain. At my foster's, I ran and played in the back yard, slept in a kennel and chewed on bones and toys. But I'm not sure what I should chew on in my new home. That thing you point at the TV kind of looks like a chew toy. If you don't show me what I can chew, I'll give that a try. Or your shoes, because they smell like you and I long for your touch and approval. Maybe this is the next best thing. I'll feel a whole lot better if we can play in the back yard or go for a walk.

At my foster home, I probably had a small group of dog friends to play with. You might think a dog park is a great idea right now. Let's wait a few weeks. I need to know that you will guide and protect me if anything goes wrong. Some dogs at the park are jerks. Maybe I'm a jerk sometimes too but my dog friends understood that I was just too rough, not trying to fight. Stranger dogs might not be so understanding.

If I have a new dog brother and sister, I sure would like it if I could wait a little while to meet them. If I could sleep in a kennel all by myself and take a few naps in it while my brother or sister is spending time with you, that would give me a chance to get used to the new smells and sounds in our home. I'd love to meet the new dog while I'm in the kennel. If you give both of us treats during this meeting, I'll learn that good things happen when that dog is around. Later, we could take a walk around the block, each of us being led by an adult. This would be a time when we focus on walking and listening to you. I'll know the other dog is there and I will feel safer with your leadership because YOU are preventing an unfriendly meeting. When our walk is over, maybe we can smell each other.

My kennel will be an important place for me. It would be nice if I could eat there so I know that nobody is going to mess with my food. It will be important for me, especially at first that I have a place to chill out and mull over all the new changes.

Changes are exciting and exhausting. Please protect me from overload. I have looked all over for you. I want to be everything you deserve. If you can help introduce me slowly to my new life, over a couple of weeks, it would help me tremendously.

Thank You,
Your New Dog

Oooooh Todd! Todd is one of the best! Todd is a 4-5 year old hound mix. He was previously found abandoned by a good Samaritan who was able to call animal control and law enforcement to rescue him. Sadly, Todd’s suffering didn’t end there. He then experienced extreme kennel stress and self-injurious behavior. Poor boy! That is when our rescue was contacted to help Todd. We jumped at the chance to help this handsome man; I mean could you say no to him?!
Todd is described as a warm loving boy. Todd LOVES people. He is one of the most loyal dogs you will find. Todd is a quick learner and loves to please. Todd wants to be the center of your world, as he rightfully deserves. Todd is his persons shadow and loves to follow them everywhere. Todd does not prefer being in a kennel when away from you and does fine roaming the home as he spends most of his time napping when his person isn’t around.
Todd Likes to play fetch and loves his walks. Todd is known to be a goofy boy as he enjoys showing off his yoga moves and rolling around. He is a big hugger and snuggler. He would prefer to sleep in your bed, so be prepared to move on over. Todd is very treat motivated which is helpful for training. He is a typical hound, and his nose will find the food. Todd also loves water and enjoys being in the pool or river on warm days. As if Todd can’t get any better, he knows basic commands and is house trained and knows how to use the doggy door.
Todd would prefer the slower pace of life. His perfect day would just be snuggled up with his person or sunbathing on you back deck. Todd has attended doggy daycare for assessment and has done well, but he much rather be at home with his person, as he is a people dog! He is great with cats. Todd would do best with older kiddos as he loves to give hugs and suckle on shirts/pants. He has met kids at doggy daycare and has done well. Todd also does well traveling in the vehicle and will just find a spot to lay down and snooze away while being the ‘passenger prince’.
Todd is neutered, UTD on vaccines, dewormed, and microchipped. Homeownership and fenced yard are preferred. This rescue will not adopt out to individuals with unaltered domestic pets.

$$ FIVE$$ FRIDAY!!!!
And we have a DESPERATE PLEA!!!!! One of our pups we rescued had a spay complication. Her prognosis is amazing, but the emergency visit after her spay to address a horrible rupture at her spay site was not so amazing. The vet even stated in her 15 years she hasn’t seen this. But since Mokie’s outcome was so good we couldn’t say no. We have attached the bill information below.
Below is our PayPal and Venmo information. Mokie was seen at Pet Emergency Clinic in Missoula. We had to pay the whole bill for them to complete the surgery.

Astrid is a special case and is going to require an even more extraordinary home. Let’s start with the basics before we dive in to telling you how wonderful Astrid is. Astrid is believed to be a one-year-old 35-40lbs lab/hound mix, from what we can decipher. Astrid came into rescue as she was found as a stray, and it was immediately clear that she had experienced extreme abuse and trauma. She was a shell of a dog bursting with anxiety. Men is what she feared the most. When she came into rescue at eight months old, it was clear she was also expecting. Astrid had her puppies in rescue and did a great job raising them. Now it is time for her to find her perfect family.
Some things to know about Astrid:
If you are looking for an agility dog or a running partner, Astrid is your girl!
If you don’t like sleeping alone Astrid is also willing to jump into bed and snuggle with you. She is a great cuddler.
Astrid does well around kids, dogs with appropriate introduction, and has been introduced to livestock and cats.
Astrid does well ridding in the vehicle and walks on the leash nicely. She also knows basic commands!
Astrid is crate trained and housebroken.
Astrid is on tramadol for anxiety and takes one-two pills a day.
Astrid would prefer a home with no men, as she still is extremely fearful of them, even with continued repeat exposure.
Astrid is one of the sweetest dogs to come into our rescue and it is imperative that we find her the patient home she deserves. She needs someone to see past her trauma to the sensitive girl that she is. She is not aggressive but is fearful. Being timid probably kept her a live during her time with her abuser. Once Astrid opens up to you, her soul is truly magnificent. She will keep you on your toes and would benefit from a routine and training. She is now experiencing life for the first time and would love her forever family to come along on her journey with her.
Astrid is spayed, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and dewormed. Homeownership and fenced yard are preferred. This rescue will not adopt out to individuals who have unaltered domestic pets.

These pictures don’t even do the damage justice. These pictures also don’t do Daisy justice, by showing how beautiful she is, inside and out. Daisy has significant scarring and swelling from what we believe is due to someone wrapping wire around her muzzle so she couldn’t eat then discarding her. Over a month on her own a trap was finally set. Daisy’s battle didn’t end there once she was captured she came to a shelter and was facing euthanasia. Daisy was shut down! Thanks to amazing shelter staff and a dedicated vet tech who drove through the night to our rescue, Daisy is now safe!! Welcome Daisy to the PPRS family!

With the holiday season fast approaching us we are hoping NAVY doesn’t have to spend them without her forever family, again. Navy has been in care for coming up on a year with ZERO, yes ZERO interest. We are not quite sure why to be honest. She is a little timid at first but boy does she warm up to be the biggest goofball, typical of the breed. She does well with dogs with proper introduction and loves kiddos. She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and dewormed. We are hoping that a DNA test will help get this girl adopted… and the results are IN!!!!! Thank you to everyone who donated to help us get the test. Were your guesses right??

ADOPTED!!!
Meet MOKIE!!
This 6 month old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is ready to be your next companion! This sweet girl was abandoned and her owner never claimed her. SHOCKING!!!! We cannot say enough good things about this cuddle mop. First thing is first… she is STUNNING 🤩!!! She is learning the house routine, and getting potty training down. She is crate trained and rides in the car well. She loves kids, but is sometimes too excitable for our new walkers/toddlers and young kiddos. She is a puppy, so patience and understanding of training is a must. She has done great with all dog introductions. She has also been introduced to cats and livestock with no issue. She will be spayed, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and dewormed. She does have a grooming appt set up (this will help set her up for success regarding socialization). Homeownership and fenced yard is preferred. This rescue will not adopt out to individuals with unaltered domestic pets. Adoption fee is $350.

Sweetie has been with us since February... SEVEN MONTHS! She requires a dedicated patient home and we will settle for nothing less. She requires more socialization and training, but she has truly become our “sweet” baby girl at the rescue. She is an 8 lb love bug and we can’t wait to share more of her personality as we continue to work her care plan to get her better equipped for her new home.

Kicking off Adopt An Unadoptable Pet week…Meet TODD! Todd is a 5 year old beagle hound mix. Todd was facing euthanasia as he was a long term resident at the shelter with kennel stress that resulted in him self mutilating. Let’s prove to Todd that he is adoptable despite his age and missing tail.
Todd would love to be with his person as he LOVES people, is fine around other animals, and is quite the character.
Todd is neutered, UTD on vaccines, dewormed, and microchipped.

This week is adopt a less adoptable pet week!!!! Well, we have a few of those 😉
Over this next week we will be posting some of our longest residence for adoption so keep your eyes peeled to read their bios, again.
We will be talking about the importance of looking past first impressions and the “cuteness” of the animal. We will also be highlighting how amazing an animal who needs dedication and a lot of love can be.
