Miranda Allyn Horsemanship Horsemanship Coach - Helping Women Reclaim Confidence In Themselves & Their Horsemanship. Is this for you? Well, ask yourself these questions. Guess What?!

I help people increase their confidence, communication, and leadership with their horses. I do this by providing horsemanship coaching that emphasizes simple fundamentals based on the natural psychology of the horse, that anyone can understand and apply to any horse. Do you find yourself wondering why your horse is sometimes slow at picking up what you’re trying to teach him, or maybe he’s not get

ting it at all? How many times do you find your mind wondering if there is something you’re missing that is holding you back from winning? What are the other people doing that you’re not? Are you afraid to admit that you’re actually a little scared of your horse at times and no matter how hard you try, “Cowboying Up” doesn’t work and you don’t know why? I get it, after 20+ years involved with horses, I’ve been at every one of these points a time or two. There is NOTHING wrong with you! But I know how to help! With a natural approach (thanks to a college degree in natural horsemanship) I’ve developed a horsemanship skillset that can greatly benefit anyone from the casual rider to the western performance athlete. I offer In-person Clinics, Virtual Coaching, Video Reviews, Zoom &/or Phone Calls! If you're interested in taking your horsemanship to the next level, I'd love to talk about how I can help!

BE THAT GIRL.

Be that girl who cares more about how she treats people than how she does at the barrel race.

Be that girl who gives her horse a pat on the neck after a bad run instead of ripping on her horses face.

Be that girl who wants to see her friends succeed just as much as she wants to succeed.

Be that girl who smiles at everyone in the warm up pen instead of smiling at just the people she knows.

The barrel racing world is full of people who are jealous, ungrateful and rude. It’s our job as competitors to bring positivity to this sport we all love. We are called as followers of the Lord to speak life and give grace to those around us. Let’s make this industry the best it can be and focus more on being THAT girl.

Time is the one thing you can't buy. Both to get it back or to add it to experience.

Seasoning your horse is just as important of a step in their training process as any riding exercise that you could ever teach them at home.

The time, especially with young horses, just HAS to be put in.

Yellowstone is back!!!
I never thought I'd be so excited to watch a tv show, but here I am like it's Christmas morning.

While the characters are good, Beth Dutton state of mind over here, the horses are obviously the main reason I love watching it.

I love seeing again the well-trained, high-end performance horses, the legends of the western world that they sneak in, the lifestyle of the cowboy that I miss, and my favorite state- Montana.

Sure, a large part of it is unrealistic drama for tv, but one of the scenes that hit me the hardest last night was one of the more simple ones that many probably overlooked.

It was the scene where they were at the gas station. The sun was just coming up, rip was topping off the diesel, everyone came walking out of the well lit gas station with snacks in hand to last for another few hundred miles. That part about made me cry.

Why? Because that scene took me back to what feels like another lifetime ago living out west. I can still smell the diesel fumes as I hold the green handle, watching the $ amount keep spinning up and up in the 3 digits like a losing lotto machine. I can still feel the pain of burning my tongue on that old burnt gas station coffee I knew better than to drink right away but I still did it anyway. I can still taste the bag of bbq chips and chocolate bar that I grabbed to get me through the next few hundred miles.

It's the little details like that and the memories it brings back that I love Yellowstone so much for.

How about you? Do you love Yellowstone too? What's your favorite part about it?

This is so heartbreaking, Bob was such a legend & did so many amazing things for the equine industry. I don't think many people realize the positive changes he brought to the industry.

I'll never forget riding around warming up a c**t in the warm up arena at a cow horse show in California & looking over to see I was riding next to Bob and thinking holy cow, I'm freaking riding next to Bob!

Clinton Anderson has a great podcast interview with him I highly recommend taking a listen to.

The AQHA family has lost a legend. AQHA Professional Horseman and American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame member Bob Avila passed away today at the age of 72. We extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to his wife, Dana, son, BJ Avila, and the rest of the Avila family and their extended AQHA family. We will post funeral and memorial details as they become available.

THIS 👇 is why I'm pivoting to serving more online based 🫣

Yep, it's me again, running on iced coffee & McDonald's french fries & unexpected doctor appointments. 🙋‍♀️

Being a mama comes first & unfortunately I have a sick kiddo that needed to see the doctor today, so I had to cancel another lesson.🤒

It gets so frustrating having to cancel due to weather, forest fire smoke, unexpected plans, etc. Because I love the seeing the friends I've made and teaching horsemanship. But that's life.

The advantage with having resources online is I can help a larger group and YOU can keep learning on your horsemanship journey no matter what life throws into your schedule! 🙌

TREATS! 🍬🐴🍭 Yes or No?

I get asked all the time about if I believe in treats, especially for training.

Here is my personal experience on that👇

Rewarding the slightest try & building off of that then being left alone to think on it is the biggest reward a horse can get. I only give treats on occasion at the end of the ride if I have any or think of it.

The problem with relaying on treats for training, besides the mouthy bad habits, is as a pray animal they can come into scary situations & their body will shut down on wanting to eat & that leaves you in a pickle.

I want my horse to be connected with me because I'm viewed as a protective leader, not because I have a treat in my pocket.

When I worked in an office if my boss gave me reese's every day as a bribe- that would not turn out well 😅

I'm sure it works for some people, and good for them, but it's not my cup of tea for these reasons.

(Long & Sappy Post Alert)
If tack could talk, oh the memories this pink lead would share.

It's the best feeling rope of any kind I've ever had, at 14' It's also the perfect length for ground work. I bought it from Clinton Anderson's website along with my carrot stick (in pink too for Tough Enough To Wear Pink), and a 30' black lead, all for my Natural Horsemanship college classes. ❤🐎

That purchase also won me tickets to see him live at a clinic at Michigan State Fairgrounds, which Jenny and I got lost on the way home and ended up in some car cruise with her Ta**us 😂

I used this lead rope on Cutter my first year, everyone probably laughing my big beastly gelding having pink tack.

I broke Queenie out with this pink lead, and used it for her my second year in college. Then went on to use it every time I worked her for the 10 years after that.

This rope has been drug through dirt and mud from Michigan to Montana and Idaho, and still looks and feels new.

I've also worked several friends horses, client horses, & stuff animal horses for my kids in this pink rope, always knowing it was going to hold up for me.

This pink rope is a reminder to always keep going, thinking back on how far I've come with my Horsemanship journey from the first day I held it up until now.

It provides hope for finding another horse to work with it again.

I love this pink rope. ❤

You create a champion by setting the horse up to believe he can win.

That looks like:

✅️ rewarding the slightest efforts & leaving him alone as a reward.

✅️ letting him think it was his idea.

✅️ creating the least amount of resistance for him to stay out of his way.

✅️ not micromanaging- let the horse decide for himself, then kindly correct his choice only after he's fully committed.
