We had the pleasure of shooting with St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (OFFICIAL)’s K9 Officer Moore and K9 Kaine last night! Officer Moore is Missouri’s only black female K9 handler and has been partnered up with K9 Kaine for 3 years now helping keep the streets of St. Louis safe! Officer Moore herself had been in law enforcement for over 20 years and takes pride in being able to relate to the community she serves.

Long post. You ready?

Do you remember that trend the dog world went through a little while ago with “Grain Free” food? Everyone thought their dog haaaaad to eat grain free food to be healthy? Now they’re linking long term grain free diets to cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure.

“Grain Free” was a marketing scheme to make other dog foods seem like the bad choice to go with. “Grain Free” assigns a negative connotation to foods that include grains.

The same thing can be said about “Force Free” dog training. It makes force free sound great and it puts horrible images in most people’s minds if they even think about going to a trainer that doesn’t label themselves force free.

Many “force free” dog trainers resort to some sort of method outside of their represented style of training whether that be restrictive harnesses, head halters, prong collars, and even electric collars.

You may also hear “force free” trainers explain that corrective collars cause pain and through pain, compliance for fear of being hurt again. This simply isn’t true and if you hear a trainer saying this, run in the opposite direction. If you think corrective dog training collars are designed to cause pain, you’re not using them correctly. These collars, when used properly, serve as effective communication tools between you and your dog, helping to guide behavior in a humane and controlled manner. The key is proper training and understanding how to use them without causing discomfort.

We don’t like to dog on other trainers and we believe there is definitely benefits to force free dog training. While force free is valuable, not every dog responds to it alone, and some behaviors require more nuanced methods for effective training.

It’s essential to educate ourselves and choose the best training methods for our pets, focusing on balanced and well-informed approaches that ensure their well-being and happiness.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our dog Alder.

Alder crossed the rainbow bridge earlier this week, leaving a void in our lives that words cannot express.

In the coming weeks, we will cherish the memories we shared with Alder and find solace in knowing that he is now running free, pain-free, across the meadows of doggy heaven.

We want to thank everyone for their kind words, thoughts, and prayers during this difficult time. Your support has meant the world to us.

Please understand that we may not be able to respond to texts and calls immediately as we take the time to grieve and heal. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this period of mourning.

It’s National Police Week. We’re thankful for all of our local departments from Jefferson County to St. Louis and beyond.
We’ve had the pleasure of working with so many of our police K-9 units.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

National Police Week is a collaborative effort of many organizations dedicated to honoring America’s law enforcement community.

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force for the devastating loss of three of their members in the line of duty, and to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the officers from assisting agencies who sustained injuries.

The courage demonstrated by these individuals illustrates the daily hazards faced by law enforcement personnel, and their selfless acts will be forever remembered. We extend our steadfast support to the families, colleagues, and communities impacted by this tragic incident.

Tonight, we stand in solidarity with our fellow law enforcement officers in mourning.
